Is it just me or do they appear to be waiting 7 ACTUAL days before shipping. People who placed orders on the day of the keynote (Tuesday) had theirs go out yesterday - at least in the case of straightforward orders.

I have the same shipping estimates as above, but I only ordered a standard 2.4, however I did add an apple remote in which made the online ordering system act like it was a BTO job.

Mine was Built To Order.

2.4ghz
+4GB Ram Upgrade
+320GB HDD Upgrade

It was borderline whether doing it myself was cheaper, so I went with factory updrades.

No details on Courier or Tracking Number at this stage

i thought about the ram upgrade.. apple was doing it for £99 i believe for extra 2GB.. but i thought 3rd party would be cheaper.. after placing the order i looked it up on crucial which came to £95!!!
i'm guessing cos its DDR3, and its new etc... the price will drop in a few months anyway (i hope)..

No Carrier Tracking Number yet.

Ordered a week today.
No news of it being shipped yet :|
I've been waiting all summer for them to be announced, refreshing macrumors on a daily basis, whilst my current laptop requires life support to function...Finally they came out with the release only to get dissapointed at the upgrades and price range. Ordered anyway for the "free" goodies, now having to wait 3 weeks to get it....
After reading a few of the "issues" with the battery latch and keyboard - I have to say it's going to fit in quite nicely to the rest of the adventure if my laptop comes delivered with problems..
Optimism +1

Edit : Sarcasm +1

There has been a problem with the keyboards? or do u mean the backlight? (im not picking at what you said i just wanna know what the problem your refering to is)

If you are looking for carrier tracking numbers then log in through the Apple US store. For some reason logging in through the UK store gives poor tracking info. However, logging in through the US store allows you to see more carrier detail. For example, on my order I can see the courier name and tracking number (Kuhne & Nagel Spedition) if I log in from...

http://store.apple.com

...rather than from the UK store. Still, not much use as the Kuhne & Nagel site doesn't seem to recognise the tracking number Apple has.

Interestingly my Macbook and my iPod nano (free UK student deal) are shipping via different couriers?

But i'm just glad of them shipping at all. They've quoted 30th October now, but i'm hopeful of a bit sooner. How long does it take to fly a computer from China to Western Europe then distribute them!

I've ordered tons of equipment from Apple so I'm pretty sure I know how it works. You see two shipping companies but what actually happens is your laptop is shipped by Kahne & Nagel to the other shipping company's UK depot. Then the other shipping company deliveries all the items in the order to your door. Unfortunately, this merging of the order usually adds one (or two if you are unlucky) days to the delivery.

I've seen Shanghai to UK take anywhere from 3-7 days. So I'm expecting my delivery any time in the next 4-9 days.

i just called Apple to doubl check my order is still ok...

it still says "8 days" and the CS rep confirmed it to be 8 'Business" days from my order date... which would mean it will ship 27th oct for delivery around 4-5 nov!!

she did say they were "overwhelmed" with orders!!

surely they *should* have been prepared for this anyway?

anyway, hope the days fly by now.. but sods law.. it's gonna be a painful wait.. and if there's anything wrong with it.. ARGHHH!

my main concern is over the battery cover moving around...

It usually has a stop over in Arnhem I think which depending on when it lands in the Netherlands, can delay it. If it gets there at the weekend, you might find that not a lot happens to it until Monday. Has happened to me in the past like that anyway.

I am unimpressed by the whole thing. Whack down a grand to get the slowest and least informative online shopping experience of my whole life.

I'm fairly sure it isn't just a case of "Oh deary me those British buggers wanted more than we had in stock!" since if that was true then people who ordered immediately after the keynote would have seen near instantaneous shipping as people in the USA have.
They must have had absolutely no stock set aside for the UK online store and concentrated entirely on getting it into the hands of resellers.
This is to be my first Mac and Apple are currently making every other major computer manufacturer look like a saint.

I agree, ordering from the Apple Store online in the UK is awful. However, it's been awful for at least 5 years so I don't see it changing any time soon.

As I say this is my first experience, and I intend it to be my last. I had entertained the idea of heading to the Bullring to pick one up (still may do if there isn't movement soon) but decided against it. From now on I think I'll get it from a reseller within the UK.

Apple, third parties should not be more capable of handing me a MacBook than you are, berks.

to be fair, if there was stock in the UK for the macbooks, then they would have arrived almost within a few days... its just when they come from china it takes an age..

i remember when the ipod 3G was announced and i ordered on the night of the keynote... it took about 3-4 weeks to arrive!

and also, i think the macbooks keboard layout for non-us countries is different, also hampering the time taken...

we'll patiently wait.. like others have pointed out, it will be worth it :)

That is not really true. I ordered on the day of the keynote 14th and it said 8 business days. And it shipped today 22nd, exactly 8 calendar days after. Also now the delivery date has shifted to on or before 31st, instead of 03-04 of nov.
