UK Apple Watch S5 Pre-Order Thread

Here is what I did:

  • Unpaired old S4, kept data plan
  • Paired new (restored form the backup), tried to use existing plan when prompted in the pair process and it failed with "Error 003, please call EE Customer services to finish" (So I hit cancel)
  • Called EE and they needed the new EEID. Note: explain from the off that you are inquiring about the plan only, the watches were bought form the Apple store
  • EE advised that all would be fine if I unpaired and re-paired now. I was skeptical and on way out so thought I would do later
  • (Later) The watch plan appeared in the app on phone as 'Unused data plan'
  • I then hit the (i) next to EE and hit 'Add New Plan'
  • The plan then activated (took about 5 mins) and the 'unused' one disappeared
  • Checked my EE account to confirm I only had one plan and I did

I’ve left my old one on and haven’t enabled the data plan yet. 150 has no flipping option for Apple Watch and I’m stuck in a never ending queue. I’d go in an EE shop but I know they are usually useless...

Yep I sold my AW4 to a mate. When I unpaired I said "keep plan", but now this plan is on my new AW5, so my mate can use cellular on it if he wants (he doesn't as it is as he is on 3)

Yes, I am talking about the Watch app, when you go to Mobile Data it said something like

DATA PLAN
EE (i)

Mobile Data (i)


Unused Plans
EE (i)


I clicked the (i) after unused plans and had the option of 'new plan' and 'remove plan' from memory, I hit new plan and this then activated and removed the unused if you get what i mean. I have confirmed in the EE app that I only have one data plan for the watch and it is the £5/month one

Thanks that’s really useful. This morning I popped into my local EE store and they said that I should pair the new watch and I should get a chance to transfer the plan to the new watch and then just unpair the old watch. I just need my new ceramic to arrive now 🙂

It looks like apple have a good supply of apple watches this year, definitely worth checking the online store for availability if you’re considering a purchase!

Has anybody’s watch actually been scanned in Eindhoven yet, or are they all still on there way from China? Deliver’s 23/25-9.

Mine's the same and has been since Thursday. How long does it take to get from China to Eindhoven? I'm hoping we see movement tonight/tomorrow morning.

I'm not sure if you've done it but I've signed up for shipping notifications on that DHL page. It'll supposedly text me when the status changes.
 
Mine’s on the way from Koeln in Germany for delivery on Monday but mine’s coming via UPS.

sounds like the ultimate fake tale but I utterly s**t you not :-D it was actually pretty devastating at the time! Really ruined the day.. I felt the pin pop out the hole on the band (it was on the ‘loosest’ hole, so had no reserve band to hold it in place) and I couldn’t grab it in time.

I spent ages looking to see if I could see it with a snorkel and mask.. but it was too deep and dark :-(

Ahh okay. Fair enough.

As for losing your Series 4 I’m sorry that happened but glad it was covered by your insurance and you got reimbursed for it. I guess on the bright side it allowed you to upgrade to a Series 5.

I signed up for notifications also, do not think we will here any thing until it lands in Eindhoven. If they land by Sunday evening they will be in the UK Monday morning and delivered Monday or Tuesday.
 
My Apple Watch S5 (44mm Silver Aluminium) arrived yesterday evening. I will be using it for a half marathon tomorrow and looking forward to testing it out more.

When I ordered my MacBook pro it came from china to the Netherlands and then to me - this exact same route. Once DHL had it, it was delivered the very next working day from Netherlands. I tried to go back into the tracking to see how long it took from when apple notified me until it reached the Netherlands, but the tracking number no longer working. From memory it was a few days.

update: Contacted apple to get the tracking, and it took 3 days to get to Netherlands and 1 day to get to me.

I took mine out for a walk today (used the strava app) and it took about 400 yards before it started tracking. I’m hoping it was just a first time weirdness as I never had any GPS locking issues with my 3.
 
This will be my first Apple Watch and I’m really looking forward to getting it. I haven’t worn a watch in years so I’m hoping I’m not going have a sweat rash or anything with the sport loop. Going off topic for a second, I understand Strava is a good app for tracking cycling, anyone with any experience of that?

I can speak from experience from using strava for extended periods (ultra walking).
It does hammer the battery (i have beacon on which probably makes it much worse!), and at least with my SS3 if you put it on charge during an activity, the GPS shuts down. on an ultra event you can get away with that as charging can be done at rest stops but not whilst out training. From memory I was getting about 4-5 hours but that also with a 38mm 2 year old watch.
 
Bit quite over the weekend. Any body still waiting seen any movement over the week end?
Mine is still on its way to Eindhoven. Apple store still says delivery 23/25 September.

Mine was as above then on thu/fri last week it said (on the apple store page) 25th, this morning back to 23-25th..
 
Mine left Germany yesterday. Still no update, however it still says Monday delivery.
