So yeah, got my series 5 today, paired it, really happy with it too. I've just paired it as an additional watch, restored from the last backup of series 4. Didn't give me any option to move the EE plan over. So I have two watches paired to my Max Pro... I'll see how others get on, or eventually call EE. I just really hate calling people, last year was painful!

I’m surprised as I found it really easy! Was answered in 5 minutes, English call centre and helpful people who resolved my issue straight away.

And I really hate making phone calls to companies!!

You will have to call EE, you cannot just swap it over. Well unless you’re planning on paying for another plan or keeping both watches

My silver aluminium 40 is still awaiting to be received in the Netherlands it appears.
Got an email from Apple saying it may be delayed...

I had no issues last time when I went from the S3 to the S4. Did you just deal with customer services or did you speak to the tech team?
Only spoken to tech team (including level 2). It's taken 48 hours for the data plan to activate (had the "activating" spinning icon all this time) and it's now showing as activated on the phone, but the watch is still saying there's no data plan. I'll be on the phone with them again today...

Whatever you do, make sure you keep the data plan when you unpair your current watch. I was told by the tech team to remove it and I'm pretty sure this is where the issues have come from.

Yeah I think you are right. When I went from my S3 to S4, I deleted the data plan and EE had to set up a new one and removed my old one. I plan to unpair my S4 and keep the plan and give EE the new EID and transfer it to the new watch and I shall pair the watch whilst I have them on the phone.

Just called EE again and finally spoke to somebody who knew exactly what the issue was and has sorted it in 5 minutes. Now working fine, and on the original plan, too :)

He said he's done about 30 of these over the past few days...

My call was painless! Spoke to a welsh lady who knew exactly what to do. I really rate EEs customer service

currently using the s3 apple watch and today my series 5 should arrive with DPD

i'm also with EE so i'm reading other peoples comments with interest. I would encourage anyone who is having difficulties to make it plain to EE how confusing this process is hopefully this might result in a month or more data plan charge in compensation. This might also make Apple aware of problems when upgrading and this might change for next year.

well its arrived what i did is pair the new watch to my iphone restore via a previous backup from earlier today and then i unpaired the old s3 i've looked at my ee app and it only mentions the new series 5 watch no other is mentioned hopefully thats worked as others have said i'm reluctant to phone unless something seems amiss which it doesn't at the moment.

i agree hopefully if Apple gets feedback saying thats its too confusing its something they will look closer at this with future upgrades.

I think your carrier still needs to transfer your plan to the new watch via the EID. All watches has individual EID's

everything seems to be working as usual on the new watch and when i go into the settings on the watch and mobile plan it does say EE connected. so all seems to be well unless i'm missing something ?? my only problem will be if they then decide to charge me a second sub for the data plan and thats when i'll get in touch.

I take your point though that its alwsys best to contact EE i've just had some poor CS experiences with them before and it really does depend on the person you deal with some are excellent some aren't.

That's really interesting if your plan automatically transferred to your new watch as I thought it was linked to the EID number.

So if I understand correctly,
1) Your old watch was paired to your phone with cellular plan
2) You paired your new watch to your phone
3) You unpaired your old watch
4)Your EE data plan on your watch only shows your new watch connected to your plan

So questions, when you paired your new watch in POINT 2, did you connect to your data plan then as part of the pairing process?
When you unpaired your old watch, did you select "Remove data plan" or
"Keep data plan" when unpairing??

Cheers

yes all of the above

on my s5 watch it says connected EE so assume that means it is and i've been out of the office without my phone and still got notifications etc

Not sure about my s3 though as its now unpaired so i switched it off so can't check any of the settings without pairing it again.

if EE do attempt to charge me twice i'll just phone then to explain but i was on the phone for over an hour the last time i contacted them so i'm reluctant to do that.
