I’m now thinking about cancelling the aluminium order and ordering a stainless steel one due to reading about the aluminium screen scratching much easier.

Is that a sufficient justification to spend the extra £300? Lol.
No, it's an absolute waste of money. I've had various model aluminium Apple Watches on my wrist since very shortly after the original launch date and not one of them has ever got a scratch to the screen or the body. Save the cash.

Cancelled my Aluminium Space Grey 40mm order and going to get the Silver Aluminium instead after much deliberation but that’s looking to be 2 Oct to 7 Oct.

I don’t know if any of you guys get Corporate Perks discount through your work place which appears to be like £10-£15 off at best on the watch, but Apple don’t appear to let you design your own watch on the corporate discount website. Which is rubbish.

I only just fathomed this out this morning... I was going to email Apple and ask when it’ll be added. I’m hoping that it’s just perhaps a new part of the website not added to the epp bit.

Was debating very hard whether to go for the SG 40mm Aluminium but opted for the Silver version. I've had the Silver Aluminium since Series 0 so you can imagine my excitement for friday as it'll be a HUGE upgrade.

Ok guys, a confession. I said I would never order the S5 but I have wilted and as a result I hang my head in shame. I did place an order for the Ceramic on the 10th then cancelled it the next day as I felt it was an expensive upgrade for very little extra from my S4 SSSB and since then I have posted on several threads saying that the S5 wasn't worth the upgrade from the S4.

However, today, having read the positive reviews about the S5 and seeing all the excitement, my resistance has crumbled and I have re-ordered the ceramic with the lemon meyer leather loop. A 3 to 4 week wait now.
So I hang my head in shame and apologise to all...but to combat my repentance, at least I have still resisted the 11 Pro Max in favour of keeping my XS MAX and intend to keep it that way.

Therefore I ask for forgiveness :)

Lol you are forgiven.

Am I correct I remembering that last year you bought a new watch then within hours the OS Apple update bricked it? Or was that another poster?

Would have gone down this route if they had more strap combinations.

If you are into sport loop bands/straps -check these generic ones out https://amzn.to/2Qhp6Oq for £6!

I am normally the last person to go for generic anything, but it's absolutely brilliant. 99.9% percent same feeling as the apple original.

Saying that, I would not get a generic normal polymer sport band. Just the sport loops

Gone for a SS. I will keep an eye on store pickup tomorrow night - I can’t remember what time store inventory appears for launch day. My impatience will cost me £15 but tbh it’s 20 miles to the Apple store and £3 to park, I’m trying to justify to myself!
Currently says delivery on Friday

£15 for?

I can get a discount off apple stuff through my employers. It was £15 off the SS with sport band.
ahh.
Nope you are correct. I posted a potential bricked watch and within an hour or so, loads of others followed suit

That happened to me with a week old Series 4.
Took to an apple store in London. They said 3-4 week repair time. I laughed and said, refund me and give me a brand new one now... which they did!

I have had 2 aluminium and 1 stainless steel. The aluminium ones in my case (work in construction) cases got several marks and the screens had some light scratching. Both held up well to daily brick dust etc etc

my stainless steel screen is absolutely immaculate, literally cleans to an as new shine. However the case has loads of marks round it which I’m hoping will clean off with some metal cleaner as recommended on the uk iPhone thread. The marks aren’t scratches they’re like swirl marks. My fault for choosing a shiny finish

I think people will learn all watches scratch if you abuse them and especially if you have a manual job. My aluminium S2 is is great condition after 3 years and i’ll look after my next aluminium S5. We buy what we like and £399 for a smart watch is about the limit I am comfortable with.

Agreed, personally I prefer the look and feel of the SS and accept the extra cost that goes with it. Others have a more sensible approach :D

Is anyone with a stainless steel model expecting their delivery tomorrow? Anyone called Apple to verify?

I ordered a Titanium watch because I intend to keep it for a few years. I bought a series 3 when they came out, I bought a series 4 in April this year ( both Aluminium), so I am determined to keep this one for at least 4 years. I thought the Titanium watch would stand up better.

I've just had an email from Apple to say that my Aluminum Space Grey with Milanese Loop has been shipped. However, the money is still 'pending' on my credit card.
The watch has from the point of order always had a delivery date of 23rd - 25th Sept. Do you reckon there's any chance it'll arrive tomorrow?

Have you had an email with tracking information? That should indicate when you might expect your watch to arrive.
