UK Apple Watch Series 8/Ultra Pre-Orders and Dispatch Thread

The trail loops aren’t yet available and won’t be until November. I have seen a review video on YouTube that showed it.
It would be strange if they didn't reserve some stock for store pickups. Even the Mac Studio Ultra which had the most demand was available for store pickup, even if it was one week after release date...
I will give the trail loop one week, if not I will get the alpine one. I just hope alpine ones will still be available after a week
I picked up The Ultra today and wanted Trail but had to get Alpine. They said if they’re in stock in the next 14 days then come back and swap the band. After 14 days it’s at the store Manager‘s discretion.It would be strange if they didn't reserve some stock for store pickups. Don’t think it’ll be within 2 weeks so have ordered one (end Nov delivery!)
Thanks hadn’t realised! Interestingly I’d wanted the trail loop one all along but opted for the alpine to get the watch and I’m really happy with this one. Given my primary activity is really swimming I’m going to just pop on an old sports loop. The marine bands looked really chunky for me.
After a rather painful support call (0800 number put me through to first line who couldn’t comprehend “I want to swap my data plan from my old watch to my new one”) mines now switched, or will be in the next few hours.
Had to point out several times to the tech support yes you can have more than one watch paired to the phone now… (I’m still waiting for the trade in box for my old one)
I hope that’s me done with this until this time next year and new phone time 🤦♀️

Just off the phone with Apple Aberdeen Union Square, and spoke with someone actually in the store.
They will not exchange just the bands, it has to be fully returned and I purchase the larger of the size.
But they have no stock, so I need to wait.

Tried out my 7 year old leather magnetic strap that I bought for my series 1 in 2015 - almost fits, there is a slight gap where the band slots into the watch

I never trusted those straps and returned mine,
On the odd occasion the end of strap caught on something and pulled the magnets apart very easily

My guess is that they aren’t releasing until November for whatever reason. I don’t think you will see it available with the watch and separately until then.
I have that strap in blue. I was going to try and see how it fits with the Ultra. It seems like from your pics it’s not a perfect fit but does work.
Maybe I had a faulty one with terrible magnetsI never had a problem with mine when I was using it.
I can imagine speaking to 10 different staff and getting 10 different answers. I’m sure if 1 person has said it’s possible then it’s more likely possible and someone who says it isn’t just doesn’t know how.

I asked to swap the band that came with my S4 and was told no it’s not something they do, you are stuck with the one that comes with it. Obviously you can resell it but they told me 100% they won’t swap it for you in store.

Anyone had an answer as to why Applecare prices are sometimes £4.99 and sometimes £5.49 for the Ultra?
Forgot to mention this yesterday, it’s now been corrected
If you go through the normal channel and order it’s now £4.99
It’s a tiny bit short at either end, but not so anyone other than yourself would notice.
Never had an issue with the strap myself, but I always swapped it out for something more secure/sweat resistant when I went out cycling.
How many of you are planning on getting Apple Care for your AWU? Never had it myself but almost considering it for the AWUForgot to mention this yesterday, it’s now been corrected

With my AW6 it was £359 repair cost and £4.49pm for AC+ and on the basis that I'd never needed it since my AW1 I didn't get it. There's a bit of a jump to £509 for the AWU, also because it is larger on the wrist the risk is a little different. I was looking at it on my cycle ride this morning and it feels a little more exposed!
If you go for the 2 year AC+ do you get the option to extend it at the end of the 2 yrs?
