Currently rocking a Series 6 silver steel in 40mm. Recently had an AppleCare+ warranty replacement on it so the battery health on it is 100% again.

I have a pre-order with Apple direct for a Series 8 silver steel in 41mm with the milanese loop. None of this season's strap colours/designs are of interest to me and the wife has agreed to buy the milanese loop off me, as she needs one for work anyway. I might just give it to her and that way, she has less reason to moan if I do accidentally end up with a pair of AirPods Pro 2...

I'm collecting my 14 Pro Max at an Apple Store on Friday, so I'm going to enquire about store stock of the steel Series 8 as there's nothing showing for collection right now. I got a pre-order in immediately after the keynote last week and the best they can do for me on the above stock configuration is 29th of September.

I'm increasingly torn about whether to still target the Series 8 with the £130 price hike or to drop down to the Series 7 with milanese loop for £649 or less. Depreciation will be worse on the Series 7, but then depreciation is bad on Apple Watches anyway.

As an ultrarunner, i'm taking the dive and swapping day2day AW7 and my fenix 7 for just an ultra.
No more wearing 2 watches when running.

If it can't manage a real ultra (I do 100k's) then I hope I can turn down settings etc, and maybe boost the charge at 50k when I tend to stop for a snack.

There’s only 3 options

Yes, the Trail Loop, Alpine Loop & Ocean Band.
But the Trail Loop was never available on launch so people who weren't keen on waiting until late October/early November for the Ultra with the Trail Loop ordered it with either the Ocean Band or Alpine Loop instead. They will then buy the Trail Loop strap when available or pre-order it.

I just ordered the Ultra via T-mobile a bit cheaper with a dataplan. Hopefully the order gets approved as it has a strange loan construction to pay off the device.

Any chance the Ultra will be in store to try on, on the 16th or will it not be there till the 23rd ? I have a series 8 SS for launch day but the Ultra isn’t coming till 20th - 27th October, currently have a Series 4 SS. Want the Ultra for the longer battery life but not if it looks stupidly to big on my wrist.

You’ll have to wait until the 23rd I’m afraid.

That strap combo is a late release with Apple too.

A lot of people wanting that strap but wanting the watch at release have been buying with an alternative strap and ordering the Trail band separately.

That’s what I’m doing. I wanted the black/grey trail loop and preordered it last Wednesday but realised it was an end of October delivery date and the watch with the other two bands were able on release day. So I cancelled it and preordered the one with the orange alpine loop instead.

I’ve preordered the trail loop separately but it’s a November delivery date ( 8-10 weeks ). If the Ultra is too big for my wrist I may exchange it for a series 8. I have series 5 that isn’t holding as much charge as it use to and doesn’t support fast charging so I want to upgrade.

Ditto!

Although I’m going to keep my series 7 for times when I want something more discrete.

Edit: should add I’ve never understood why Apple don’t sell the base watches and bands separately. Life would be so much easier surely for everyone including apple with needing many more SKUs for all their combinations

Yes I’m thinking of holding on to my series 5 for the same reason. I figure it will be a lot better to wear at special occasions. I’m not going to get much for it anyway.

I agree it would be much better if Apple sold the base watches and bands separately. Maybe they don’t want people just buying the base watch by itself without also buying a band. Also selling it with the band they make extra money and the margins are probably quite high on the bands.

I have currently the series 4 44mm gold stainless steal and thought that this year I could go for the series 8. Do you think the jump is justifiable? I don't know if I should keep my current series 8 order or not :p

Not an ultra but standard S8 (Ss graphite with leather link) just shipped!

Ordered mine from O2 upgrading from 44mm S5 aluminium having had an original 42mm sport and a 44mm S4.

There’s been no movement on this page since order date but at least it says it’ll be dispatched in time for launch day.

EE seems to have updated their website to say 28 days now.. so either we're gonna get them for launch and new orders will have to wait, or they're not getting launch stock..

Looking forward to using an Apple Watch again since I stopped using AW Series 4 for a G-Shock GSW-H1000 Wear OS watch because I wanted a rugged watch. I think the ultra will probably feel small after this.

Does anyone know if there will be any brick and mortar shops with stainless steel S8 stock for walk ins? Local Apple Store won’t sell new series 8 to walk ins this year for some reason, and my preorder went in late and I dont fancy waiting til October 🥴 Maybe John Lewis?
