If Apple had known how difficult it would be to get the white iPhone done correctly I'll bet they wouldn't have announced it. They were probably a week or two from knowing that it wouldn't be available for a long time. Then Apple could have announced it at their leisure. Now they just look incompetent.

This isn't news. We already know the white iPhone 4 won't be available until the end of the year. Slow news day?

What a PR nightmare the iPhone 4 (not just the white) has been for Apple. Repeatedly the white version has been pushed back weeks, then months, then quarters, now who knows.

How *!@#(ing hard is it to paint one shell black and another white? Heck, Apple does this all the time with their rainbow iPods. Car manufacturers can do it. Ditto for tv manufacturers, stereo companies, computer companies, couch manufacturers, door knob manufacturers, cell phone manufacturers, etc. Sheeeeez. L A M E Apple...totally L A M E.

Regardless of what the problem(s) is for the repeated delays, Apple's getting a lot of black eyes on the white iPhone 4...not to mention antennagate.

Alternatively, if you want it now, click here or visit your local Orange shop to get the iPhone 4 Black 16GB or 32GB today.

White or black, makes no difference: the most you can get is a 32GB model. That alone is the main reason I didn't bother upgrading this time around. I don't know what the "sweet spot" for storage capacity is, whether is 64 or 128 GB. I just know that 32 isn't it.

iPhone 5, anyone?

If the white IP4 really won't come out until end of the year, then I'll wait to get the IP5 next year and give her my white IP4. She seems pretty content with the IP3G, although Facetime would have been nice.

Apple needs more unicorns to grind up.

At this point, I don't think anyone really cares about the White iPhone.
Of course they do. What you mean is you don't care about the white iPhone, and somehow you imagine everyone else will be tangled up in that. Sales when it comes out will demonstrate how ignorant this is.

I think it's a good thing. Now with Android selling out more than the iPhone, Apple'll be forced to compete more proficiently. Problems such as exclusivity, for example, will seize to become problems.

"cease".

Just trying to help. :)

Just ordered my mine. Said F it after Apple made the announcement. I was pretty much over it at that point.

why is this news/rumor? apple released this info a week after sj's antenna-gate press conf.

Edit: ok, now that I am going through others' comments... i am glad to see that others have already mentioned what i have come here to say.

AT&T actually told the same thing to my sister last week, she ended up buying a blackberry instead.

That's like saying: "they didn't have the mercedes I wanted in white so I ended up buying a black honda instead"

full disclosure: nothing against honda here, i love hondas

No, I'm still waiting for the white iPhone. That, or a revised one.

Would you like to insult me some more? You've done a fabulous job insofar.

Why use production capacity to produce another color when you can't keep a single model in stock? It's more efficient to produce one model. The white one will come mid-life. Similar to the black Wii or the ps3 slim. It just initiates a small surge in slumping sales.

Do you really think the general public is aware of the white iPhone issue? My family members weren't even aware that there was more than one iPhone model ever released. I asked my friend what kind of phone she had and she said "iPhone" I said, "I can see that, what model?" she just gave me a blank stare. The white iPhone dates slipping is not a "black eye for apple" outside of this small circle.
