Mine is going via Dubai and not Alamty (Kazakhstan) as many others.

Should be on its way to Cologne now.

UK/EU late orders, and Apple customer service

How does apple's customer service deal with customers who are unhappy with their order being late ?

What is the best way to approach them to get the best outcome?

The reason I ask is that it is looking increasingly unlikely that they will make the dates they gave me for a 27" iMac.

When I contact them I'd prefer to be polite, reasonable and effective, rather than being labelled a 'Mr Angry'.

Define late in relation to the quoted delivery time range?

They quoted dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks....and reach the end of that on Wednesday. Given that my order is still 'processing' I'd consider myself quite fortunate if they went from processing, to preparing for dispatch, to shipped in the next 72 hours.

They quoted delivery as the 4th to the 10th.
- From processing to delivery in Devon on the 4th (6 days) sounds very unlikely given others' experiences.
- From processing to delivery in Devon by the 10th (11 days) is still possible...but days continue to slip by.

Apple won't do anything until the maybe a couple of days before when it is clear it will miss the 10th date.

Right now you have nothing to complain about. You were told the 10th and it can still daily make it for then.

You just have to wait. I'm sorry to say that because I understand the frustration but its not late and they won't do anything.

And the 3-4 weeks isn't the part that they care about its the final delivery date.

If you made no changed to your order, nor is your order via partner finance (i.e. Barclays) then I'd be prepared to eat my hat if you don't get your order by 10th January...

Thanks.

Your confidence in Apple is reassuring, and perhaps not unwarranted.

I'm just one of those personality types that naturally tries to plan for the 'what if's' life throws at them occasionally.

25 days of 'processing' is wearing a bit thin when some US posts suggest people are already buying 'BTO' type variants off the shop shelf.

As far as I'm aware the dates on the order status screen and the dates on the email as ESTIMATES, they aren't fixed in stone and as such don't form a contractual obligation to make sure you have the product by the date stated. So, it's unlikely Apple would do anything other than offer apologies for the delays.

Mines been stuck on preparing to ship for a few days now, but I know it'll get to me :)

Mine was processing for 25 days and shipped on the 26th day.

Any many people have waited even longer.

Apple don't miss dates and as annoying as waiting is there is nothing you can do.

That's strange I like others would suggest that your situation sounds pretty exceptional, Apple may be poor at information flow, the general rule for me has always been they deliver (often with little notice) earlier than quoted delivery times.

I hope as the holidays are coming to an end you get yours promoted to shipping and be delivered soon after. :)

I hope my UPS tracking changes soon. Still says departed Koeln nearly 2 days ago.

Is anyone else's the same?

What time did it depart Cologne on Friday/Thursday?

How long did it sit in Cologne for, I mean from arrival scan to departure scan? Just wonder how long customs clearance takes.

It would be perfectly possible if flown from Germany to the UK for next day delivery.

My iMac arrived in Cologne today and it hasn't left yet.

I think purely because Apple haven't chosen express delivery for any of us that either these iMacs are being driven by truck from Germany or will sit in the depot until closer to the expected delivery date.

Customs isn't an issue - it should be cleared before arrival.

UPS is closed on Tuesday but there is no way that they require 4 days to get from Germany to the UK and deliver when they can get from China to Dubai to Germany (in my case) in one day.

My iMac is preparing for shipment since almost 7 days. It was back to processing for a short time but after a few hours back to preparing.
Delivery date is still 3rd - 9th Jan but I think it will be the 9th...
I ordered 11/30 and if it comes 1/9/2013 I waited almost 6 weeks for the machine.
I have never waited such a long time for an order...

Why the hell do they need 1 week to prepare the shipment. I don't understand it...

Was in cologne for 2 days then departed no update since. Hopefully it's in the UK.

So, are u saying it should change soon? Hope so. :) Hopefully it's in the UK and soon to be out for delivery.

My second one (They are replacing my first one because of dead pixels) will be delivered this Thursday.

It is taking a different route to the first one (China>Korea>Kazakstan>Poland>Germany>UK) This time it is China>Dubai>Germany...

Hopefully this one is perfect. I just feel sorry for people who are still waiting patiently for their first new computer. It is all very strange....

It would be interesting to know what % of the earlier deliveries are defective and are having to be replaced.

It is difficult to get an accurate overview from various forum threads as people tend to be more likely to post the presence of problems than their absence. Screen issues appear to be reported rather a lot though.

Giving priority to replacements, which is understandable from a customer relations perspective, could potentially have a significant knock on effect on later orders. On the other hand, that might allow for QC improvements at the manufacturing end for those later orders.

If I remember correctly the yellow screen issue crops up with every new iMac release , going back to the 24 inch and 20 inch,

This then seems to settle down after a few weeks then nobody posts about it

Clearly your an exception and you should have phoned Apple.

I have and doesn't help

Still showing a preparing to ship

WELL DONE APPLE

----------

I think we should all send them back and cancel orders

Give it 2 weeks and were have loads in the refurb store with 24 hour delivery times

Quicker than 6 week plus
