You do but its not well advertised, you have to look at the terms and conditions. When you first buy it will be 12 months but then within a couple of months they email you and say it has been extended to 3 years. You can still get discounted Apple Care if you want but all that really gives you is 2 years additional phone support. Only applies to direct orders too (Online or Phone) not in store.

I don't think this applies to iPads though, just Macs.

Just been to my local Tesco Extra, spoke with the guy in the electrical dept who said they already had their delivery. Managed to reserve one and will be return at midnight to pick up. He spoke to the manager and apparently they can start selling them at 12;00 but not all stores will have staff on overnight to deal with customers wanting iPads; hence the 8am information from Twitter.

I can't get through to Tesco because they won't accept calls after 8pm frustratingly. I have a Tesco extra near me in Borehamwood, do you think they will be selling them from midnight too? I thought apple were the only shop allowed to sell early?

Same here. Just tried ringing a local Tesco Extra store. About 20 mins away from me so might risk driving over around midnight.

I got the extended warranty with mine in July last year, but you have to buy through the online store as opposed to in an actual store.

I have been looking at their twitter feed and some store managers are apparently confirming they will happily sell them from midnight. Frustratingly, it isn't everyone!

It look very hit and miss. Depends if they have enough staff to be running back and forwards with iPads

It was in Manchester (Chester rd Extra store). The guy actually showed me the box and he just put a note on with my name so I can pick up later. I think it's best to try your local store because I'm not convinced Tesco are going to have oversight on all of their stores stopping sales before 8am.

Got 3 years with my macbook pro, didn't have to pay any extra.

Apparently I paid for the added AppleCare, which I now realise is a bit of a rip-off... Ah well, live and learn!

So I'd imagine Monday/Tuesday if you go the applestore route.

Not 100% but other countries in the world : China, Singapore and Austrailia opened at 12am so hopefully it'll be the same here although the store hasn't gone down yet!

if you look at the iPad 2 on the apple store which is the same length shipping ("Within 24 hours") it currently gives you a delivery date of the 5th, so i'd presume, when it hits midnight, the date the iPad air will get delivered will be the 6th?!

Not 'official' but the Asian region started sales when the trailing end of the Asian time zones within the first wave of releases (china) hit 12:01

We're at the trailing end of European time zone so we should hopefully go live at 12:01 GMT.
