what's the update on availability in the Regent Street or Covent Garden stores?
i finish work in an hour!
thanks!

I picked one up from covent garden at 2, they said they had LOADS, but no pencils at all. sold out on those.

I ordered online, coming Friday, but am returning this for a refund now, I just couldnt wait until Friday......this means things have gone to far.

Just picked mine up from The Oracle store in Reading (128GB WiFi + Celluar). Stock available, no Pencils left (i had the last one!), no Apple keyboard covers, but they do have the Logitech ones.

Did they have demo units on the floor? Would like a play first. Curious whether it'll feel too large for sofa usage of an evening.

I'd really like a portrait version of side-by-side mode so you could watch iPlayer in the top half while browsing in the bottom half.

Couldn't see any at Watford.

Picked up a 128 wifi space grey from there literally just now, no pencils however. They said that they only had 10 delivered total!!

None in Convent garden

I knew I should have separated the covers from the iPad pro order, and for some reason just didn't do it...that's probably why mine is still sitting in "preparing for dispatch". More than likely Friday for everything except the pencil then....

When I saw the threads that Apple had opened pre-order this morning I assumed that they wouldn't be available in store until Friday but when I started reading threads that people had got there hands on the pro in UK stores today I phoned Apple to check store availability at Lakeside, Thurrock, and was told by a lovely lady that there were none in store but that she could email me once that changed. Read a few more threads that more people were indeed buying instore in the UK.

So, I decided to shoot over to Lakeside this afternoon. No iPad Pros on display or being used so I assumed that there was no stock. Casually asked a very nice chap if it was likely that they might have any either on Thursday or Friday, only to be told that they had plenty in stock.

I've purchased a Wifi 128GB but no Pencil available. First World Problems, but was a but frustrated as if I had been given correct info over the phone then I would likely have been able to get a Pencil as I would have driven straight over this morning. Lakeside had received an allocation of about 4 Pencils.

So, got back to the car and decided to call Apple again to check Pencil availability at Bluewater. Spoke to a different lovely lady who said she though that no Pros or Pencils were in store and she was clearly surprised when I explained that I had just bough the Pro. She got through to Bluewater, they had sold out and had only received an allocation of about 2 Pencils that morning.

The Lakeside chap had started his shift at 2.00pm and had been surprised that they had received stock for sale and the staff at the call centre clearly had not been briefed either.

Me and my daughter will enjoy exploring the device this evening, but the lack of availability of the Pencil at launch is a disappointment. Of course there is plenty to do on the device but the Pencil was the main reason for upgrading at this launch. Like I said, I realise it's First World Problems.

Edited for typos

Hey at least you got the iPad!

I too am a little disappointed at the shortage of Pencils, but I am glad they didn't delay the iPad Pro release because of the accessory shortage.

Okay....relief, Space Grey 128GB Wifi, plus smart cover and silicone case all dispatched for delivery tomorrow (UK Mail)

Omg. It is absolutely gigantic! Lol

I think it might be too big for me :'( I've never not owned an Apple product (with the exception of the Mac Pro and Thunderbolt Display) but this may be going back. It's huge.

What do you think of it, so far?

Size?

Weight?

Speed?

Is it living up to your expectations?

Give it a little time. It's like when you upgrade from a 32" TV to a 46" and you go....holy cr*p, it's massive. It seems to shrink every day you use it, so the next time you buy a TV, you move up to 55" and go through the holy cr*p cycle all over again until the 65" TV comes into the living room ;)

Yep. Although the 6 Plus wasn't that big a surprise to me as I'd had a Galaxy Note in the past, it did seem huge after my 5S. Now I can use my 6S Plus one handed for lots of things, it feels utterly normal, and the time I've spent with other people's 6's I think "Why would anyone want such a teeny phone?". Bizarrely, smaller phones seem more droppable to me now as there's less to hold onto. I go caseless btw.

Personal taste of course.

Size wise, I think it's been designed perfectly. In it's box when purchasing in store I thought it looked smaller than I had anticipated. When unboxed and before first switch on I thought that the proportions looked good. Powered up and went through the set up procedure and on first use it felt spot on.

Going on the Apple event presentation I had formed the impression that the pro was going to be larger than it actually has turned out to be. That's not to say that I am disappointed, far from it, I'm coming from the last of the pre-air iPads which I find is still perfectly usable even with ios9, and holding each device in a different hand the pro is lighter so will still be perfect for evening armchair use (a question raised by a previous poster).

Apple use the word "ginormous". We all knew it was going to be a much bigger iPad, I just found it difficult to visualise before I saw it, but on use it is ideal for what me and my eldest intend for it which is to try it as a Wacom replacement for my hobbyist art and her hopefully higher level creative work and, occasionally, to use for more enjoyable media consumption. Ginormous was just a marketing word which is fine, but the device seems to sit perfectly for our intended use and, I imagine, for many others. It's not too big and it's not too small. It's just right.

Initial impressions are that it is lighter than expected for it's size and lighter than my pre-air pad which I use comfortably most evenings, has a beautiful display, runs very fast and smooth, handles the Adobe cc apps and other creative apps extremely well so far. I expected all of the latter otherwise it would have been a failure out of the box, but the low weight/size ratio of the device, in use, has exceeded expectation.

Other than the confused launch and shortage of first party accessories, my humble opinion is that Apple have delivered a great product and one that meets, and might exceed, my expectations. Budget aside, I think that it is a product that will delight casual and content consumer users as well as creative users, at least at my daughter and my own current non-professional levels. I will be interested to learn what professionals eventually make of it as an additional tool.

Don't get me wrong, I did say budget aside, and although I hugely enjoy many Apple products it is hard to ignore some of the cynical product marketing decisions across the range and I am no slave to the brand, but if you can live with the UK premium pricing then this is a product that I don't think will disappoint.

It won't replace our iMacs and our MacBooks and, of course, it isn't an iPhone, I don't need it to run OS X (which it was never going to do in this iteration) so it seems that Apple have found a perfect space for it in the product range. What a surprise!

Actually, on the Pro Pip is bigger! I read it in one of the reviews.

I assume just because it's physically bigger? I'd like it to take up more as a percentage of the screen. Should be able to scale to the full width of the screen when in portrait mode.
