I would imagine as well that there are fewer pick up slots available so they’re not having hoards of people queuing or in store at the same time. They’ll be managing their store to make it COVID secure and managing queues and collections will all be part of this.

It seems all the Apple Store pick-ups are in slots of 15 mins - mine is between 09:45 and 10:00am on Friday so your post makes perfect sense.

So I’ve got a iPhone 12 pro on Barclays finance, picking it up on Friday.

But I’m having second thoughts about maybe getting the Max 😭

If I decided to return my pro and go for the max, considering it’s on finance, would I have to cancel the finance and reapply? Or could they refund onto a gift card and I just pay the difference.

Anyone have experience doing this with finance?

They cancel the whole finance and reapply

...you may be struck by Customs and Excise charges then if its coming from the U.S. which will probably cost more than the case itself!!

It does state that but don't expect them to be much, do you know how much I'd be expecting to pay?

At a guess it would be needed to be reapplied for

I’m guessing you would have to take out a new loan for it because of the price difference and due to the fact it’s a different model

I sent mine off this morning, DPG sent email with time slot, with tracking. DPG had packaging and box for old phone to be placed in. DPG took photo and that was it. interesting that Rebuy are Technology Recycle Group and flog loads of phones at auctions for resellers. Will let you know if i get the £367 for my iPhone X 256gb they offered.
Yes please let me know how you get one. Mine is going off today. Out of curiosity, does the driver let you bring the box in to package it in or does he do it for you?

ah that’s annoying. I thought because the loan was just for an amount, not model specific, that I could just pay the difference. I don’t want to have applied for 2 loans in a month

I cancelled my order for my 12 yesterday, and as far as i'm aware Apple cancel the loan with Barclays when you cancel the order so there's no need to worry.

When I ordered my 12 Pro yesterday I had to re-apply for the finance loan. But it got approved straight away.

I didn’t think you got charged on items less than £90?

Website states £135, but as its going via Netherlands I am not sure how this works as they are in the EU, but they may have different import taxes etc..

...feck - really???!

That sounds like a very strict area.......

We’ve had a local lockdown for the past 4 weeks and a national firebreak coming in on Friday. We’ve had a lot of cases and now Manchester and Yorkshire look like they are experiencing similar. I know people who have been fined, some argued they had legitimate reasons though. I doubt visiting an Apple store to pick up an iPhone 12 would get you out of a £60 fine though lol.

Make your mind up, rules or guidelines....they cant be both. But as mentioned previously this is why we are in a mess!
It’s not us who need to make our minds up.

There is an important difference between rules and guidelines.

Rules, are contained in legislation. There will be statutory instruments that lay them out.

Guidance is just that - suggestions put out on gov.uk.

The government doesn’t make it crystal clear what is a rule and what is a guide, because they’d rather you followed both types. But they know they cannot enforce guidance.

Not sure if you are joking or....

But yes, its a thing, taken from .gov website:

In addition, we are advising people not to travel into or out of an area if it has been categorised as a very high alert level area. This is part of wider measures to help manage the risk of transmission. You can continue to travel into or out of very high alert level areas if you need to for work, education, to access youth services or because of caring responsibilities.
Pleas note the words “we are advising

This actually means that it is advice or guidance, not forbidden. It can only be legally enforceable if a Statutory Instrument makes it so.

EDIT: Sorry, I was catching up and didn’t realise that @Sheza had already pointed this out.

Also please note, I am not advocating that people go against Government advice, just clarifying the legal position.

Was is it not $20. I recently purchased Zugu case for ipad via Amazon and they charged me duty in final total order value.

It’s actually £135 now, used to be £90.

I’d be claiming your duty back unless it was a very expensive iPad case lol.
