Thanks for this @Vindallo1 and @bigchrisfgb - Stock Informer just popped up an alert for my preferred 12 Pro at Argos so I ordered one. Got onto Live Chat with them as you described & said I'd read I needed to get in touch to schedule a delivery - how about Friday? 🤣

I'll only believe it when I actually have it in my sticky mitt, but I got an instant text and now an email ... Thanks for sharing!

Great stuff! Let us know what estimated slot you get or when you receive your tracking info :)

What is the situation if you get to the Store within your 15 minute slot and then there is a massive queue to get in? Is there another line if you are just picking up?

It’s actually £135 now, used to be £90.

I’d be claiming your duty back unless it was a very expensive iPad case lol.

I bought something from Japan with a total value of around £40, does it follow that rule because I had to pay like 19 pounds customs + handling on it

Last time I had to pick up, you have to queue to get in and then someone will move you to the picking up line. They knew I was picking up too and other people picking up had to queue up too.

Remember its VAT and import on the item and delivery.

God that doesnt sound fun! Praying now that my Amazon order comes through!

I don’t know why you guys put yourself through the torture of an Apple Store lol. One positive of this pandemic is it’s meant quiet stores. Slow service and a system more difficult to book into than a GP lol.

....I had no other choice really as I'm away from Friday afternoon til late next week so in-store pick up was my only option if I wanted the phone on release day.

We’ve had a local lockdown for the past 4 weeks and a national firebreak coming in on Friday. We’ve had a lot of cases and now Manchester and Yorkshire look like they are experiencing similar. I know people who have been fined, some argued they had legitimate reasons though. I doubt visiting an Apple store to pick up an iPhone 12 would get you out of a £60 fine though lol.
Guessing you're in Wales? Situation is different there to England, there is no legal requirement not to travel in/out of different tier areas in England so no police enforcement and no fines. TBH if you get in your car, drive to a shopping centre, go to the Apple Store wearing a mask & staying away from others as much as possible, collect your phone in 15min and then get in the car again and drive home (and do appropriate hand hygiene etc.) you're at less risk than if you went to a restaurant/pub for the evening.

You shouldn’t have paid customs but couriers do add handling charges sometimes. I bought a watch from Japan a few years ago for £300 and luckily didn’t get charged a penny but it seems to be luck of the draw. Helps when they undervalue it on the packaging.

You and I have had similar experiences on both fronts. They were moments of regret, in the first case for ordering from abroad (outside EU) and in the second for not arranging home delivery.

...I would think they would move you to the front of a new line - why would they want you to queue with all the other 'chancers' who do not have time slots allocated?? Doesn't make sense if you ask me...!

Yes I am in Wales and glad I am seeing the shambles in England at the moment. Might be different rules then but that’s the key issue isn’t it? Different rules.

I couldn’t travel to Cardiff which is only 40 mins away to pick up an iPhone as I’d be breaking the law. People from England can come on holiday to Wales though which is bizarre in the extreme lol.

...so on the back of the 15 minute time slots for in-store pick ups, I'm really wondering if there will be long queues or not?!!

Is it even worth turning up early...?!
I'd assume they have allowed for covid i.e. booked less people for each 15min window than normal. Our local store (Liverpool) is only open for online order collection, scheduled Genius appointments and scheduled specialist appointments anyway so I doubt there will be that many people there.

Some stores have express pickup lanes, but that’s at Westfield stores malls only in the UK

Don't think they can now in a lot of areas, we'd be subject to the Welsh regulations when we crossed the border: some of the places we go walking / cycling are over the border and we haven't been able to go since the local lockdowns came in. Once you have the national lockdown surely it won't be allowed anywhere?

Anyway, this isn't the "UK lockdown discussion" thread, best get back on topic. 👍

I bought a Nomad AirPod Pro case, sent through Fedex and was charged £16. The duty was only £2 but the handling fee was £14. I was pi*sed.

Anyone who ordered from Very can you share any updates?

Have you had email from Very saying your order is on schedule?
