Grumpy of Islington on here for a moan at EE - amazing they don't have an online eSIM transfer process, and my local EE shop can't even help me as their ID scanner process isn't working, so they can't get my driving licence into their system and so can't issue me with a new eSIM. Not sure whether to start the mail-out process or try again tomorrow ("it might be fixed, it might not") Anyone else having issues? My blue Pro is beautiful, but currently no use outdoors - and we got a new 5G mast less than 100m away so was keen to see what speeds I'd get here...

I ordered my replacement eSIM a week ago so I can have it with me just in time for new iPhone setup.

You can have it delivered (takes a couple of days) via MyEE or by calling 150. I remember there’s also a “digital” option where you get it sent directly to your phone but I don’t know how to do that. Someone in this thread posted about it (because they were being charged 50p or something for it even though it should be free).

They do have an online esim transfer process, supposedly. If you go to ask for a new sim using safari on your phone you are offered to get it through the myee app or a QR code on the web page. All sounds brilliant except it never works, nothing appears in the app and the section of the page where the QR code should be just says there has been an error.

When did people get charged for their phones for people who Picked Up from the Apple Store?? It was a pending transaction last week but now is not. They handed my phone over to me and I received the receipt but still yet to be charged!

5G on EE in central Reading... not bad!

What do you mean by “failed”?

I waited a while, the line didn’t become active on my new phone but was deactivated on the old one.
Spoke with EE and they said the QR scanning failed.

I’m in no mood for arguments today, but I should ask them for compensation later because now I’m without a phone line until the new esim code arrives. They can’t reactive my old esim.

Same here got phone and not been charged, was on my Barclaycard Mon but dropped off at some point so not even pending now

Maybe Apple like us and gave us free phones 😂😂😂😂

£7.99 a month. I usually pay the £150 but this carries on until you cancel so if you keep the phone for three years you’re still covered.
If you pay the £150 for two years after that you are automatically put onto monthly. So you don’t need to take our monthly just because you want it to continue after the 24months

Sadly I had convinced myself I was going to sit this year out until JL had stock yesterday, so it was a somewhat unplanned purchase. I can't even get the 50p option to show up - I've tried using the website and the app on new and old phones and it only offers my the £1.50 delivery option. I can't really afford to be without a working phone over the next few days, so I'll have to keep trying the store given the number of reports that the issuance of a new eSIM can disconnect the existing line, although it sounds like that didn't happen to you..?

You can ask the store to give you a physical SIM if an eSIM is difficult to acquire. You can then get the eSIM delivered to your home later. From what I’ve heard, the eSIM pack doesn’t expire so you could’ve requested one anyway as backup. Anyhow, something to keep in mind for next upgrade - always order replacement SIM early!

Yes, once you activate the new eSIM (by activate, I mean by going to ee.co.uk/simswap) the old eSIM will stop working. I actually messed up my set up - I scanned the QR code on the new phone and removed the eSIM from the old phone without realising that the simswap website sends a verification code to your number, and so I was unable to activate it. So I had to use live chat and the customer service rep was quite helpful and activated my eSIM within a few mins.

I’m on the same plan now. Someone here was kind enough to give me a 20% off student discount code which brought it down to £22.40. I don’t ever remember having unlimited data before so I’m looking forward to not having to worry about how much data I use. I’m also hoping that the 5G is at least decent where I live and especially where I work.

Yeah first time having unlimited data, just moved off a 30GB tariff, and don't think I've ever used more than 15gb in all that time. It's a small thing but there is something satisfying seeing the infinity symbol instead of the amount of data used/left

Well thats me done for another year.

Phone delivered this morning thanks to the Amazon special and the other will be returned unopened to Apple tomorrow. So hopefully somebody who's trying a store walk in to see if there's any stock can take it home as there's more than likely none :)

Tried 5G on o2 while in the town centre earlier and was getting 150gb so was pleased with that considering they only apparently 'released' 5G into my town yesterday.

Also the Plum silicone case is very nice on my Graphite, however I still think I will return it for the Leather (probably saddle brown) when they release them as I have a feeling this silicone will have dust cling to it.

Now to carry on playing with my new 12 Pro while thinking '...This really isn't any differnet' 😂

Same again next year!

Regarding e-sims, EE are quite good at sending a replacement e-sim via post. Just give them a call (150) and connect with their technical team. I have ordered already 2 e-sims (one for the 12 pro & one for the 12 pro max-for when it comes in November). Both arrived within 1 working day (I ordered them in different dates for the same phone number because I want to have a back up e-sim for the 12 pro max as I haven't yet decided which one to keep). E-sims come inactive and you can use them whenever you are ready by activating them at https://myaccount.ee.co.uk/app/activate-sim.

Also the below comparison is quite good and points out the differences between the iphone 11 pro an iphone 12 pro. The data speeds are faster even on 4G because of the new modem (Snapdragon X55) that apple is using from Qualcomm!

Finally, he has noticed too that the screen in iPhone 12 pro is a bit warmer/yellow, so I don't think that's a defect of the device.
