Having had to cancel my initial reservation, new phones became available at the two Newcastle stores during the day yesterday, so I’d keep trying. Other stores had availability during the day too. The added problem this year (for those on IUP) is clearly the lack of availability of reservation time slots, presumably due to Covid. I feel sorry for those in Wales, who presumably won’t be able to get a phone on IUP at all until their new lockdown ends. I’m picking mine up on Tuesday evening now.
That’s a good shout! I had another look this morning at about 11:00am and there were 128GB Graphite phones showing up for reservation. I ended up just going with one in Graphite from the Metrocentre. I’ve just come back home with it and it’s really great, enjoying it a lot! I really wanted the silver and I’m still not 100% on whether I will return this for the other colour, but I will give it a couple of days to see if I get used to it. :)

Hi.

I'm after a bit of advice / info from those who are on EE or have moved to recently...

I have 2 mobile phone accounts with Vodafone.
Both contracts end on the 15th of next month, and I am looking to move them over to EE.

I actually have a 4G Mobile WiFi account with EE which I've had for around 6 years.
EE have already said they'll give me 10% off each line I'd bring over to them.
The EE "Smart Plan" which I'm favouring is the 200GB with 1 smart benefit included.
Should be £25 p/month, but reduced to £22.50 p/month for each line.

My questions are :

1.
Should I, or can I, get a further discount on that by another means? i.e student discount etc?

2. I already pay for Apple Music separately direct to Apple. Is it easy enough to cancel through them, and choose that service as one of the smart benefits on 1 line?

3. I already pay £80 a year (or whatever it is) for Amazon Prime. Again, is this something that's easy enough to cancel with them, and add that smart benefit to the 2nd line?

Thanks in advance.

Stuart.

No, it should still work!
Mine works with a Mac Case but not with my cheapie case wallet with the Morphie QI
Just been to the local Apple store (10 miles away) to try and see what the colours are like and screen compared to my 11 pro Max. No chance. I knew you would probably have to book a slot with someone outside the store. Problem is you can’t just look at stuff any more. If you want to purchase something or even just look you have to book a slot for a few days time. :-(

So just to look you have to go to the store to book a slot. How’s that work? Why can’t you do it online?
No problem with Customers in Apple Southampton, yesterday. Temp check outside, and you are in to browse. Also John Lewis Southampton now have a sort of Apple/Tech area in store similar to the apple store to browse and handle the gadgets. They had some 12/12pro display models

2016, so just over 4 years old. Already repaired twice - once under AppleCare, once under the keyboard replacement scheme. Was told that was it - you only get one under the keyboard replacement scheme. But, that’s irrelevant. The scheme is Apple’s choice to provide. By law, if the item is not fit for purpose or of satisfactory quality (as evidenced by the high failure rate of butterfly keyboards), you’re entitled to a repair free or charge - up to 6 years after purchase. Or a replacement (MacBook Air 2020 anyone?) if they were so willing (they weren’t).

Technically the onus is on me to prove it’s defective, so I did that by arguing that the keyboards are known to be a defective design hence why Apple replaced them on their entire laptop lineup.

I was polite and we joked about the iPhone 12 launch.... after he went to get approval from his manager to let us have the keyboard replaced for free.
I've studied contract and some consumer, I was curious about the area of dispute! Yes, burden of proof would lie with yourself but most sales assistants should be aware it is far easier to just do it. Bet they loved you! Nobody wants to go full Durkin but a flash of knowledge usually shifts things along.

You may have seen my Stormfront story, apparently, the extended warranty had an "implied term exclusion clause" for recalls.

In other news, still can’t get anything out of EE. “We can’t discount 5G plans”
They can 😄

I had to really go hard at them for a discount but it can be done. They’re being ultra stubborn at the moment. There must be thousands of people after the same thing at the moment.

It is so annoying. I’ve told them about what other people here have got. Played the angle that all other networks get 5G as standard and don’t need to change plans. The issues I’ve had with MyEE. Not giving me a crumb.

I’ll try again in the week on live chat and then wait for Black Friday to either stick or ditch for Vodafone.

I use a 20% perk, through the BlueLightCard so you might be able to find something similar.

I believe the Amazon prime smart benefit is Prime Video only, so not the rest of the stuff you get on Amazon prime.

I did sert up as fresh and start to download the apps. It’d take a few hours at best.
I can live with the restore going into the night

Can’t remember what device you went with in the end? Are you happy with your choice?

Hi @Davelfc.

Thanks for the heads up regarding BlueLightCard discount.
I have 2 family members who work for the NHS!

I guess the Amazon benefit doesn't include Prime delivery from what you're describing then!

With regards to the Magsafe charger, The lead length is abysmal , what extension lead would one need to attach to get it longer to plug into the Apple 20w Charger please.

£29 ?? The upgrade for that tariff is £28 standard unless you are a new customer in which case it's £37.

You need a 20% discount code like BLC/Studentbeans/NHS that will take it to £22.40. Then ask if they can apply an ee Loyalty discount of £5 off = £17.40.... YMMV

Got the exact same deal as this last week, it’s definitely a lot of luck involved with who you speak to etc. but managed to get the £5 loyalty added on top of the 20% discount

I upgraded online yeah. I actually have 2 order numbers, I have the 12 digit one that starts with 3 letters which was on my order email and a 10 digit one that chat support gave me. Neither let me track my order.

You better ring them. My first online order never got confirmed. I rang to place new order.

Here’s the kicker.

Battery failed the diagnostic - was told £199 to replace or I could opt not to. We opted not to - will get a new laptop soon anyway.

So she goes to collect today - they ask her to pay £160 for the battery.

What battery?

She was just gonna pay, but I told her it’s clear in the note that we didn’t agree to have the battery replaced (and it’s not in the parts list).

Get home to check... battery has hundreds of cycles on it! They didn’t replace it but tried to get her to pay for it!

Ordered the iphone 12 pro 128gb pb in the last week with Vodafone, said 1-2 weeks for delivery (was torn between pb and the gold but that said even longer to wait) and given the supply issues they seem to be having, god knows when I'll get it. Anyone else order via Vodafone and no real idea when it's coming?

My first iPhone in 7 years so am excited (and a bit nervous too as I've loved my s9 plus - just fancied a complete change) Just hope not too much longer to wait.
I ordered a 12 Pro 128GB in silver on Thursday with a 4-6 day delivery. It's now slipped to a month in my order page. I contacted them and the response was "we'll let you know at some point when you might get one". The guy was already talking about compensation, a power bank, but without prompt but they're going to have to do better than that. This is my first ever iPhone so I was very excited to get it.

I was going to order ipad pro from them purely on the basis of 3 years warranty. Luckily decided to read the reviews and they were not a good read.
Ended up buying from John Lewis. Got lucky there.
