I’ve been with Three for nearly a decade and have always been on an unlimited contract. Over time it had slowly risen to £20/month, but last month they decided the contract was too old and the default was to move me onto their £23/month unlimited.
I started by getting them to switch me to £18/month for unlimited which I was happy enough with until I found that’s actually readily available. Feeling like my loyalty hadn’t ment much I looked around and saw the EE 100gb for £16 with the student discount.
Looking at my usage over the last 2 years I’d never actually been over 25gb max in any given month and since March there have been months where I’ve barely reached 2gb.
I phoned Three back to cancel (as still within the cooling off period) and they ended up offering me 30gb for £10/month (still with 5g, hotspot etc).
Not having unlimited will feel weird, but without an end to working from home in sight and as 30gb will still have been enough for me at any point in the past 2 years, £10/month feels like a decent saving.
Moral of the story.... I wish I had started this haggling/threatening to leave lark years ago!
