Are you able to return the phone to Apple if you've tried it and don't like it? Sounds like a stupid question but O2 give you 14 days to return, even if you've used it.

Yes my understanding with apple is you can return within 14 days. in fact others on here have said you have 14 days form the day you received it to initiate the return and a further 14 days to return it so its more like 28 days total

Never pre-ordered an iPhone before, always waited a couple of months, but I will be pre ordering a 12 Pro Max! Is it best to do it on a Mac or my iPhone, I am paying via Apple Pay so either isn't a problem at all, just whatever is best for a 1pm order!

It varies to be honest. Most people swear by the iOS app but it doesn’t always work out.

Sorry to say, John on the Apple Chat is wrong! According to Apple's own website - Cardiff will be open:

Apple St David's 2

Opens on Mon at 9:30 am

Mon9 Nov9:30 am - 8:00 pm
Tue10 Nov9:30 am - 8:00 pm

I do appreciate that those in England would not be allowed to go there, but the statement, as made (the bit about "at least a month"), is contradicted. It is closed until Monday.
That doesn't mean much as that's just standard opening times that are displayed on Google

I don't get what you are saying. I just did a google search and saw:

Hours:
WednesdayClosed
ThursdayClosed
FridayClosed
SaturdayClosed
SundayClosed
Monday9:30am–8pm
Tuesday9:30am–8pm

That is, the hours change on Monday. The above hours are very much not standard hours. Standard hours would have them open Wednesday through Sunday. And hours in England would not have them closed today (Wednesday).

It’s a suck it and see, the old days the web browser was best but as years went on the app became more replicable to hold your session.

I’ll be upgrading through O2, I usually pre-order it in store then upgrade my tariff when I go to pick it up so this’ll be my first time pre-ordering online.

I’m assuming it’ll go live at 1pm on Friday and I’ll do the pre-order and upgrade my tariff all at the same time, correct? It’d be nice if they put prices on their website before Friday so I know which package I’m going for and I don’t have to waste any time.

problem is lockdown so the time will be extended into Dec more likely unless you get it collected by UPS
I think that if you obtain your iPhone via home delivery (as it appears that you will have to because of lockdown) Apple will expect you to return it via the online process within the normal time frame. However, any purchase made from about the 14th November will probably not have to be returned until about the 8th January (Christmas extended return period).
