this point is interesting

  • The ‌iPhone 13‌ Pro Max will continue to offer exclusive features that the ‌iPhone 13‌ Pro will not have.
but also is the comment

"Last year, directly ahead of the iPhone 12 event, Weinbach issued a wave of detailed "leaks" about the iPhone 12 lineup that were similar to this thread. Virtually none of the rumors from the equivalent tweet thread last year came true."

big battery improvements in the series 7 is a win for me!

With the Barclays 24 months interest-free credit option, there is no deposit but me trading my phone in brings the total cost down, which is then divided into 24 monthly repayments which are lower.

Is it easy to arrange all the trade in stuff when buying the phone? I'm really hoping to do pre-approve for the credit option to get all the ducks in a row, I don't then want to be faffing around for ages on the day trying to arrange the trade in when I'm buying the phone?

Taking my seat…

can't say I've ever done an in-store trade-in personally and buy a new device at the same time.

the FAQs does show

If I buy a new device online and add a trade-in, what kind of refund will I get?

It depends on what you buy and how you pay for it. If you buy an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch and pay in full, we’ll apply a refund to your original payment method up to the total purchase price. For any remaining amount, you’ll receive an Apple Store Gift Card via email.

Very easy.

You supply the details of your trade in and the value is taken off your total amount. If you pass the credit checks, you're pre-approved and can have the phone sent to your home or collect from an Apple store.

Once you've taken delivery of your new phone or collected it, this triggers a pack to be sent to you to send your trade in phone. It was UPS that collected from memory and within a week, Apple had received, inspected and confirmed all was good. Only wanted the phone, so I was able to keep my 18 watt USB C charger that came with the 11 Pro Max.

Mind if I steal this wording for the first post?

brilliant many thanks for explaining! So the trade in stuff is actually done at the credit pre-approval stage rather than the buying the phone stage? that sounds a lot better than what I was expecting

I'm starting fresh.
Authenticator will restore as long as you have a Microsoft account connected to it or something I think?
EDIT: Yep, make sure iCloud is turned on in settings too. https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb...ator-app-bb939936-7a8d-4e88-bc43-49bc1a700a40
@Jinjin at work we are asked to enforce a setting that prevents Authenticator being backed up/moved to a new phone. To be safe set your authenticator method to phone call/SMS if you can until you setup the new phone.

so the the perennial question of whether to restore from back up or start a fresh? :D

I went a fresh last year and said I'd sort out the apps I use and don't use.. but in the last 12 months I've never bothered and my home screen is a mess... think I'll start afresh again!

just need to remember if Microsoft Authenticator can be backed up now
I did the transfer from one iPhone to another yesterday, first time I've used this method as I normally do iCloud restore. It was the smoothest transfer I have ever done - Apple Watch data, pics, apple pay cards (subject to verification) etc all carried over with no issues. A few snags - you can't use either phone while the transfer happens, in my case that was 3 hours (lots of cold sweats) I was able to use Whatsapp via desktop but once the phone restored all interim messages were lost.

Authenticator was the biggest pain, the data didn't back up despite it showing as ticked for backup on my old phone had to go through the pain of setting it all up again for both work and personal. The apple watch Authenticator app was easier to sort out

Looks like I have the option set so my work haven’t been too hard nosed about it!

Luckily I’ll have my 12 in hand when I get the 13 as the missus is getting it. I’ll be able to make sure it’s all ported across.

I have that option too but unfortunately the app won't tell you it can't backup a particular token but if you have both phones available sounds like you're sorted ;)
