Which Model are you getting?

Cancelled my order for the iPhone 13 Pro (Graphite) with Apple as it was due for delivery between 3-10 November and instead ordered via Carphone Warehouse but decided on a 128GB model rather than 256GB which will be delivered by 28th October. I won't use ProRes and am not fussed about Cinematic mode. When it comes to storage, I don't use a lot (currently only 26GB of 64GB on my SE 2). I take photos and move them across to my Mac. I only keep a small amount on my phone.

This is so accurate it hurts

The apple MagSafe chargers are to me a massively overpriced waste of money.. that duo charger is apple at its worst for overpriced, Uber spec’d accessories.

I’m more than happy with the Belkin MagSafe 3-1.. well made and perfect bedside 1 cable unit for me

I think the Apple Duo Charger has it’s place, yes it’s expensive but so are most of Apple’s accessories, I’ve seen them go for £75 on Amazon a few times. I use one for the work, sits on my desk. It’s easy to just fold back up and put in my bag when I leave the office. Good for travel as well, at the beginning of September I went to Cyprus, it was the only charger I took and it worked well.

I do agree for permanent use at home, there are better options, like you I have the Belkin 3 in 1 charger, works brilliantly.

Let us know how you get on!

.....just reading the reviews on Amazon on this and its a very mixed bag 😕

People saying it doesn't hold the phone strong enough and/or the bracket which actually holds the phone is only held in place by a very tiny screw.

This is a very common issue caused by overtightening the ball mount at the rear :

Hmm, decisions......🤔
So, received my ESR HaloLock car mount today (the charging version) and first impressions are that I am impressed at how firm and strong it holds my iPhone 13 Pro.

My phone also has an official Apple leather case, which seems to increase the strength of the hold which the mount has on the phone. Haven’t yet tried it in the car but when the phone is attached, you REALLY need to give it a firm jolt before it will detach!

The only slight negative is that it does leave a slight ring mark on the back of the leather case but I guess that is to be expected with all MagSafe accessories.

All in all though, a great purchase!

Sounds very positive so far but the true test may be how firmly it attaches to the air vents in your car and whether the phone vibrates when the car is on the move. Please let us know once you’ve had a chance to road test it.

I’ll actually be using it tomorrow for a 1 hour + drive so will let you know.

I’m also on a drive tomorrow. Was told this morning that mine was on the way only to get an email off Amazon saying it’ll now be Monday! So it wasn’t dispatched this morning then was it Mr Amazon?

And now an email to say it's out for delivery today between 3:45-6:45 and I have to leave at....3:30!!!

Well, just got back from a 2 hour round trip to Sussex and back using the ESR HaloLock Mount (charging version).

Have to say - this is one impressive product. I was driving a Land Rover which has big round vents which the clip of the mount fitted into with no issues. The clip itself is reinforced with a metal rectangular piece which gives some added resistance when you open the clip to insert it and thus provides a really firm grip to the car vent (there’s no chance of it falling off).

The bottom part of the clip has an adjustable arm type thing which you use to stabilise the whole mount - this also works really well.

Once my iPhone 13 Pro was connected to the mount, it really does provide some sturdy grip - I found no movement of the phone whilst it was held magnetically by the mount (I also have the Apple Leather case on my phone). If you plan on using a naked iPhone with the mount then it could move about whilst driving seeing that the circular magnetic part of the mount has a glossy surface but when using the leather case, there is zero movement of the phone.

Can’t post any pics currently as this forum is having a spaz and won’t let me post any (think my image sizes are far too large on my 13 Pro!).

Great review, thanks. Sounds like a decent product at a reasonable price. Another win for ESR!

Morning All,

Are we all good?

Thought check in :D

Sal.
All good here and still checking in on this thread! Looking forward to the Mac event tonight... ABSOLUTELY NOT in the market for new products this time (after having said exactly the same for the mini and the watch on top of the phone). Thankfully the bank account is fully exhausted. Looking forward to 'innovations' though 🤓

Quick question for all you iOS 15 veterans!!!

I'm looking to get my mum a new iPhone - she currently has the 6S Plus on iOS 12 something !!!

Its stupidly slow and she really needs an upgrade.

She only wants to spend around £300 (£330 max!) so is looking to get a rufurb from her network, GiffGaff.

These are the important specs for her 6S Plus:

So, we have been looking at the following - iPhone 8 Plus / iPhone XR / iPhone XS Max, which all fall under the £330 max cost :

These all also run iOS 15 - even the 8 Plus!!

What are everyone's thoughts ?
