The only thing is that if you had proof of the condition prior to sending it and then MM say it arrived damaged, you could claim off RM surely as it’s meant to be insured for loss/damage (at least according to MM)?
They've said there is no proof of any damage in transit - when I pushed them on this they couldn't back it up but would not even entertain the idea that damage has occurred in transit therefore an insurance claim. Basically, there is zero recourse.

Music Magpie - ABSOLUTE CROOKS

I know others have had good experiences but I have been well a truly conned by them and now out of pocket by a huge amount.

I sent them an immaculate iPhone 13 Pro Max, I mean absolute mint condition, almost as perfect as the day I bought it from Apple. High-quality Tourras screen protector installed on the day I purchased it, always in a shockproof case, I even had a camera lens protector installed as I am so OCD about my tech. Never dropped and never mishandled, literally no scratches on stainless steel case apart from normal "micro Scratches" and even they were minimal. If I received my iPhone as refurbished I would have been made up - hell it still had 100% battery health.

I sent it so highly packaged - in the original Apple box which I taped shut, that was wrapped in bubble wrap and taped, then placed in a box and parcel taped within an inch of its life.

After rather suspicious delays between delivered status and they received it and after an inspection found the screen chipped, scratches on the screen, and a crack. Offer reduced from £700 to £143 as they deem the damage that bad. When challenged they have shown me photographic evidence and I can swear that the screen they showed was not the screen that was on my phone. My screen had zero scratches due to the screen protector and no chips - I closely inspected it at the point of despatch and polished it with a lint-free cloth. I reiterate that it was the definition of mint condition. Further, it was so over-packaged that I cannot see how it could have been damaged in transit.

I am devastated (strong words but it's how I feel) - I have zero recourse as they claim that's the phone they received (possibly it is but something amiss has happened in the meantime). There is nothing I can do but reject their offer and receive a damaged phone back that I swear has a screen on that is not mine. Resale value is now hugely impacted, this is not the phone I sent them, and I am out of pocket by a huge amount. They will not entertain any liability and just say that's the phone I sent - the IMEI number matches.

What can I do - seems to be absolutely nothing.

I’m so sorry to read this.
I know most people seem to have a positive experience, but it’s the possibility of this happening and the stress of it is the reason I don’t use services like this.

I know this probably won't help you this time around, but I've had issues in the past when sending a return back or selling a device and then it's claimed to be damaged when, like you, I know it was in super condition. Now, no matter what I'm sending back, I take photographs at various angles of the item, item in it's box, item packaging and the outer box - I'll also do this as a video for things like screens so you can see the light bouncing off to show no marks or scratches. That way, I can at least prove the condition it was in when I sent it and then either the company or myself can came claim compensation from the courier for damage in transit.

Last year, work colleague and I both cleaned our iphones before sending them to MM. We looked at them in the light all round to make sure nothing wrong. No micro scratches anywhere... both perfect.

We packaged them up very carefully in sturdy boxes with tons of packing and cardboard shock absorbers. Both were identical.

Mine went through perfectly well and his failed their checks and he was offered 100quid or something. When they showed us the photos of his unit, it was scratched to heck ALL over it and the screen was damaged too.

Now ok it could've been in transit :/ he couldn't prove otherwise but there's something weird IMHO.
Knowing the quality of my screen and how I look after my iPhone I also think there is something weird going on. Hell, I don't even like my teenage kids to handle my phone "just in case"

Perhaps this was your issue......

The box of the iPhone is hard. If you placed your phone face down or even face up in the box (even when said box is bubble wrapped), and this is placed inside another box, if the whole contents is overly solid, any heavy weight placed on top (i.e. during transit) is gonna be fed through to the contents inside.

Sometimes people can overwrap stuff which causes so many layers that it actually creates less safety inside.

I'm afraid to say that if the IMEI matches then it 100% IS the same phone you sent them (which, has unfortunately, become damaged in transit).

I can't see any way out of this and I would be miffed if this was me also.

also wonder who the 'insurance' is actually with.. I assume its MM that take liability as the standard 48H Royal Mail service only covers up to £100

hard times, someone always get stung in some way during this period... can only offer condolences... I'd be livid too if screwed over by MM, apple or anyone else!

Me too. Bit nervous about Envirofone tomorrow for myself now too - sent my 13 Pro Special Delivery today and they always pay the day of receipt (which will be tomorrow). I'd cry if they claimed my phone was damaged, obliterated the offer and sent back a damaged handset. Incidentally RM Special Delivery is insured (up to £500 I chose, even though my offer is £700). Would I be able to use that, probably not? Such a grey area isn't it.

But surely they wouldn’t entertain it as you had no proof of condition just before you sent it?

And no bloody eSIM yet!!!
Even all their correspondence and contracts say Vodafone.
I know - I’m really hoping that they do it soon! I’m looking to launch a business later this year/next year and will deffo be using dual-sim rather than two phones!

You can get the deal at the moment if you are receiving any type of income related benefits or DLA or something similar. Look up in the site Voxi for Now. They do a check on your bank to make sure you are receiving a payment. If you qualify you get the unlimited for £10 for 6 months. You can also do it on as many accounts as you want.
Voxi do a £10 for unlimited everything but you have to be on certain state benefits to get it.

I stand corrected! I was wrong

Amazon dispatch quite late as they use their own logistics. Sometimes it won’t dispatch until late at night.

I get that and I use Amazon all the time (more than I should really given their dodgy tag practices…) but “order received” and “We will email you when we have an estimated delivery date.” and no other contact in nearly a week isn’t really great communication.

They could say “item allocated” or SOMETHING.

Are you absolutely sure its your phone and there hasn't been some sort of mix up? Get them to show you the serial number on the screen if they haven't already.
Also, you may qualify for an insurance claim from the Royal Mail.

yep 12th for me too. it changed today to order confirmed and then dispatched a few minutes ago. Now I can see it on the DPD app too.

I've had rotten luck so far this year and this is perhaps one bright glimmer of hope

Mine still says order confirmed.

Fingers crossed it might change soon.

The irony is I thought going the Music Magpie path was preferable to my usual eBay path as I am always anxious about dodgy buyers - this was meant to be the easy, stress-free solution.

yeah exactly... of course when the phone came back to us it was as per their photo. totally trashed :( so he couldnt even resell it to somewhere else. Dodgy as heck in my purely personal opinion

You poor things 😂
I thought blue and red could have made (deep) purple but nooooo you had to go on the offensive again…

But jokes aside - it’s really hard to watch City be so great and seemingly create a Ferguson-esque dominating era.

I've tied with the idea of driving to the local Asda and use the SmartDrp kiosk there.
Lose about £50 though and not a lot of videos on it being used.

Giff Gaff are being downright offensive.

Offering the phones at £100 over the Apple RRP, but then offering 0% interest on Klarna.

That’s not interest free, people will be paying an extra £100 for the phone.

That ought to be illegal.
Agree lots of other companies do similar stuff. Because they offer Clearpay. FCA need to get involved
If I want to return my iPhone 14 pro max, but it hasn’t been delivered yet. Can I just refuse to accept delivery? Or do I need to accept and then initiate a return?
Refuse it, I’ve done before
No update from Amazon. Why do I have a feeling like they completely overdone pre orders this year. They stopped taking pre orders for the Pros in any configuration. Makes me wonder if they screwed it this year to the point in which they don’t even know when the current orders will be going out
My iPhone 12 Pro from Amazon came on release day with dispatch email around 9:30pm
I still haven't received any DPD tracking information yet either. I have my order number, EE confirmed all is fine. Pre-ordered at 1:15pm last Friday. I'll be pissed if I don't get it tomorrow.
If you login to EE app does it let you upgrade or does it say not eligible? Can you also track the order?

Problem with that though is that by now the values have dropped - if you want to get a good price 'locked in' I think the only way is to post it in, as you get the 2 weeks to send it in, right?

Slightly worried about this MM issue !

I have a £725 offer from MM for me 256 13PM - was planning to drop it off at Asda on Tuesday which is well before my 21 days ends.

I also have a rebuy offer for £733 which was due to be collected on Monday (I guess will be rescheduled) but I favoured MM just as I had never heard of rebuy ahh not sure what to do! 🤔

I know their reputation is good, everyone seems to not have a bad word to say about them but something has seriously gone wrong with my order. I honestly cannot fathom it, whilst it sounds completely bonkers to say this looking at the photos of the screen they showed me to back up their position I would say someone has swapped out a damaged screen with mine. No way to prove this, and does sound ridiculous but honestly, I was shocked at the screen they showed to back up their assessment - it was the difference between someone who tosses their phone around and drops it to my perfect unscratched and unchipped phone screen.

This has ruined the iPhone 14 purchase as I don't think I can now afford to buy it as, like everyone else, I rely on the re-sale value of my previous phone. The irony, I opted for Music Magpie this year as opposed to eBay to avoid these shenanigans.
Who was the courier? I had to return a high-end monitor as it had damage to the screen. The retailer arranged for Parcel Farce to come get it and I literally watched them cartwheel the box into his van - just didn't care it was an expensive monitor. Luckily I had doorbell footage of them doing this and reported it immediately to the retailer in case there was further damage to the item when it got back to them.

guess you've got nothing to lose when it goes into the machine.. you'll either get the price you were offered or you can get the phone back out of the machine (no not be taking a sledgehammer to it!)

I'd be inclined to use the kiosk next year if they enable the 14s to work on it early enough

Their photographic evidence shows the serial number and IMEI number on the screen. They will not entertain an insurance claim, I asked repeatedly.
