As mentioned last night, I’m keen on seeing (and hoping no one does) get their transaction blocked on their card even after doing this pay in full pre auth.

I guess there might be a difference to some banks seeing a £0 charge to one over £1200?!

Just worth keeping you back ups options/card close, or numbers to call you bank etc handy!
This happened to me last year, Bank Of Scotland are terrible for blocking even the lowest of payments

I had to go onto the App and authorise the payment, and they STILL blocked it!

The bank doesn't even allow you to call them to warn of big transactions, absolutely useless

I entered my 3 digit number on the back wrong once, and that was enough for Fraud to block all transactions....Grrrrrr

Question on pre orders and Apple Pay..

I’ve got ready for pre order and selected Apple Pay - but I was wondering if I was to upgrade to iOS 16 between ordering and the money being taken I wonder if that would mess up my order and if I’m better off checking out with a credit / debit card?

Why should that have any effect?
The transaction goes straight into a pending state once complete. They take the money at despatch by which time your device has nothing do with it.

Apple Pay gift cards

With these cards why would you not just pay using Apple Pay.

Was that with the gift cards purchased on discount?

No. I just found i could have got 4% off gift card purchases but would have to buy 11 of them as they are in denominations of £100.

Just ordered clear MagSafe case with 10% off through Apple EPP.

I’ve woken up completely torn between black and silver now. I keep seeing the shiny black stainless steel edges and it’s making me really consider it over silver.
It’ll be my first “black” iPhone since the jet black 7 plus…
I'm exactly the same except that I'm really not sure about the high gloss jet black stainless steel edges, particularly as someone posted a photo of one yesterday which had horrendous scratches.

I also tried Apply Pay once and because it was linked to the same bank account, it was blocked

Wouldn't trust Apply Pay again for this type of transaction

Also doubting my colour choice. Could be a last minute switch. Thankfully it seems you don’t have to re-do the finance application if just switching colours

Anyone know if you can organise a trade-in online when you buy a new iPhone and then take your trade-in to an Apple Store once you've received the new phone? I've been stung before when returning a phone to Apple where the courier (UPS) lost it and it took some time and several phone calls for Apple to sort it out. I'd be much happier taking it to my local Apple Store then I know they have it.

Have you removed VAT from the Euro price?
No, why should I, because that's what you pay for the iPhone 14 as a consumer.
I must admit, I've never understood the US system, where advertised prices aren't necessarily what you actually have to pay.
So hence the question : how much would you have to pay as a consumer for a regular iPhone 14, 128Gb storage in a US store ?

In any case, I'm interested in the regular iPhone 14 ; was going to buy a 13 a while back but decided to wait for the 14 as this has 6Gb of RAM instead of 4Gb (has this actually been confirmed?).
I have no need for the Pro features, they're nice and all, but they don't really matter to me. After long deliberation, I'll also be ordering a Macbook Air M2, and not the 14 inch MB Pro M1, as I ultimately won't be using the Pro features, just like with the iPhone...

You covered a lot of ground there!!!

The main reason for the US pricing is that Apple only state what it is for consumer excluding the taxes. It would be too hard for them to state the full price as every state has different tax rates. There is state and local taxes. Some states don’t even charge a tax and others are quite high. This is why tax is never included on shelf prices.

On the US Online Apple Store tax is calculated once you put in your Zip code.

I “got ready” with the space black but the deep purple is tempting me! Just wish there was a way to see it in person and be able to secure a launch day phone. Just guess those two things will never happen unless you work at Apple 😂

Tomorrow will be a busy day.

Birthday Brunch
Pre Orders
Cobra Kai Season 5 (Binge Watching)
And then out and about.

Already feeling old lol.

30 pages deep 😉 I have some serious catching up to do.

Absolutely loving the new pro phones. Trying to decide on Space Black or Deep Purple.

I think if you just keep your phone in a (not clear) case then as long as you like the colour of the camera bump it doesn’t matter what colour iPhone you get 😂

is it worthy AppleCare or the one with theft on top ?
never had AppleCare and my iPhone 11 Pro Max is in pristine condition after 3 years and on original apple leather case , the screen protector was on for more than 2 years , but when I took it off , man felt like a whole new experience using the screen. the people who have the 13 pro is the screen more durable against the scratches or should I go again with screen protector
thanks

Well, that clears things up a bit ;)

For what it's worth, I'm still on an iPhone 8 Plus so whichever incarnation of iPhone 14 I buy, it will be a huge upgrade !
