What model are you getting?

Especially Chase which requires to take another photograph your driving licence/passport and take a selfie then decides it's not happy. I did this six times and it still isn't happy that it's me! It has now gone for manual verification which will take around 24 hours. Steer clear! All the other banks were pretty straightforward, still annoying though.
I've found the camera can't seem to get a close picture of the driving licence without it being blurry. Only an issue in Chase though, not the Camera app. Suspect it's just not updated to take it into account yet. Is that the issue you have?

Picked up the series 8 from the Apple Store this morning to replace my series 4. I think the upgrade will be worthwhile! Series 8 is on the left (graphite) and series 4 on the right (gold)

iPhone 14 pro max space black coming up shortly

What is the best strap to get with the Apple Watch? Thinking of getting one as well...

Apple Support has me setting up the phone afresh ... via a Restore in Finder; I can't say I've used Finder before, and the last time I did a restore was over a decade ago..

Same issue, had to dig out the passport.

Late to the thread this year - glad to see @Jinjin has kept the tradition going!

The launch has fallen at a bad time in terms of my travel, so this is the first year in I don't know how many that I have not been able to be part of the launch day fun. I was so sure that the launch would be September 23 until Mark Gurman said otherwise...

Still, all being well I will have a 14 Pro Max in my hands tomorrow!

Question....

Wife and I have both our phones, we are doing a direct transfer....

Can we go out and take both phones and they carry on? or do we have to stay home because its using our wifi?
I would just leave it for a bit - not sure how much data you have on each there's not much on mine but it took about 10 mins.

If your transferring a few hundred gig each it will take considerably longer as I'm sure you are aware.

Tell me about it. I just loaded the app and it’s asking me for my ID again. I’ll leave it for another time. I don’t really use it so not missing much. Even HSBC was simple to set back up again!

Well it’s more secure if you loose your phone being able to track it coz they can’t pop a sim out so that reason alone I would switch to a eSim
In the scenario that you destroy your phone and need to transfer your sim to a replacement device, it's likely easier to do with a physical sim. Although i use an e-sim for my work number, my private number is still a physical sim. I suppose I'm still on the fence about it - although carrying just one phone is great.

Took my devices about 2.5 hours (a lot of data to transfer).

I kept them side by side and had no issues.

Well you can just go on the EE app and get a new eSim in seconds

It’ll transfer the data and then use wifi to download apps if it was like mine!

Well 4 hours later and the transfer from old phone, setting up of all banking apps and Apple Pay cards, Tesla car key app and log ins I’m nearly done.

I forgot what a pain it all is. All working well now though. Except my work verification but that’s not important 🤣 That’ll have to wait until IT at work is back in on Tuesday.

Better late than never! Good to see you back!

Walk-in purchased 14 pro at John Lewis in Southampton at lunchtime. Upgraded from 11 pro. Really happy with the little bump-up in screen size and camera package.

Had intended to go for the pro max, but couldn’t get my head or hand around the size and weight of them.

I always recommend a fresh install of a new iPhone. I’ve seen no end of issues that appear for people that have been restoring from an iPhone that restored from another iPhone etc
Interesting take; I've always set a new iPhone up from back up since the iPhone 6 days and never ever had an issue

It is quite a lot of data! 2 hours it is saying and could really do with popping out

Right ok, so hopefully if I went out before it has finished worst case it'll download the apps when I get home? as long as the phone is functional I am not fussed if the apps come when I get back
