What model are you getting?

We’re all changing our phones in 12 months does the battery health even matter?
Agreed. Now that I’ve truly accepted my fate of upgrading annually I think I’ve come to the opinion of charge to 100% and not to worry about battery health. Why should I not enjoy my device to the fullest if I’m not gonna have it long enough to see the impact of the degradation??

On another note - I went to The Verge to see their reviews for the Series 8 Watch and, after 3 days, I still can’t stand their new direction. I used to go on there multiple times a day, now I can’t stand being on there for even a moment.

I financed a 2nd device this morning then cancelled my original order.

I was expecting Barclays to flag something but it went through without issue. I don’t think my credit rating is somehow magical so I’d suggest applying tomorrow.
Ok. Thank you. I’ll give it a go.

Did you upgrade program or straight Barclays finance may I ask?

so bacially you go to their website, and when creating a quote you choose you wish to use SmartKiosk. When at the SmartKiosk, you scan a QR code you receive in your order e-mail, confirm your iPhone details & sell price. Then you put iPhone inside the machine (there’s no cables to connect) with IMEI number visible on screen (they tell you how to show it). Then the process begins, a person remotely checks your iPhone through cameras in the machine, if it’s in good condition and if there’s iCloud lock etc. I had to wait 20mins for a person to connect to start checking my phone, after that the whole check took approximately 3mins. If all is good you confirm the price and they proceed with payment immediately, the funds were visible on my account within an hour.
Wow! That’s pretty impressive

After using my iPad mini 6 as my primary device for the last few days due to having no phone, it’s actually so much more comfortable to hold than this 14PM. Especially for longer periods of time.

Old device has downloaded offline apple music. I transferred to new device. Offline music doesn't get transferred because i am not seeing on new device. I have to manually download offline music again. Is this right?

I just charge it to 100% and use it as normal and after 12 months its still 100% battery health on 13 Pro. I only charge with Apple 5W wall adapter. My mate has a 13 Pro and only uses MagSafe, it warms up a lot and battery health is at 96% after 12 months. I think 5W does the trick to keep an excellent battery health. And in emergencies when I need to recharge I have the 20W wall adapter.

Edit: its 95% not 96%

Yes that works too, nice shout.

I don’t know what to do tomorrow.

Have a PM 512 in black reserved for pick up tomorrow on iUP.

Due to the debacle on launch day I have a Barclays finance one due 3-10th October.

Do I go to apple tomorrow and try finance again on iUP or just leave it and wait for shipping in a couple of weeks?

Prime to apple support today and they can’t transfer the finance to the pick up. They can only cancel one or the other.
You’ll end up with multiple credit searches/accounts. Stick with the one you’ve ordered.

I’d Barclays finance on a 13 pro with 1/2 of it still owed.

Bought on release day with a trade in to pay off the existing loan and start a new one. Downside was delivery wasn’t until October.

Checked this morning and bought another also on finance via Barclays for collection tomorrow.

So for a time I had 2 ordered both on 24 month finance at £45 a month.

Best bit is I popped into store at 4pm today and collected it which saves me an extra trip into Newcastle tomorrow.

I know there was some interest in the Peel “ultra thin” cases earlier in the thread.

I’ve just found the following on Amazon available with Prime shipping: memumi Case for iPhone 14 Pro Max, Ultra Slim 0.3mm Case for iPhone 14 Pro Max, Matte Finish Extra Thin Case, Anti-Scratch and Fingerprint Resistant Case (6.7 '' 2022) https://amzn.eu/d/guclCEf

I’ve got one on order for tomorrow, but it claims to be as thin as the Peel case (0.3mm), also frosted and branding-free. Plus, it looks like it has individual holes punched for the camera lenses, rather than a big block cutout.

It might be worth considering as an alternative to Peel - cheaper, shipping from within the U.K. and available now (I think Peel is on pre-order until September end).

PSA: Just thought I’d update. I cannot recommend this case. I’ve either got a bad one, or this has been rushed in manufacturing and the measurements aren’t right.

Once applied, there’s a not-so-small gap under the LiDAR sensor area. It’s almost as if where they’ve “milled” (?) the outline for the raised camera module and the individual lenses, they’ve not gone deep enough, so the individual lenses aren’t pushing through fully and therefore causing the case not to sit flush against the non-protruding LiDAR.

Am i the only one not fully sold on the always on display. I wish it was a little darker. It feels too bright. Plus the rumours on the hit on battery life. I hope it gets updated but as it stands i'm probably gonna turn it off.

Far from the only one. The general consensus here seems to be that the AOD should be darker. I’m hoping the same as you that Apple updates it in the future - even if only to be able to turn off the wallpaper!

I’m hearing he abstained this year. I think he needs us to break his will. He’s probably also happy he’s saved a bundle by getting kick out of here
We ought to start a new site called Macrumours (correct spelling), create a forum, invite Dino to join and only have one thread... on the iPhone 15 :D

Anyway, been nice knowing you o_O

Congratulations to all of you who received the new iPhone today..

This is my first time getting an iPhone. After I finished setting it up, I realised that I have to erase it to transfer WhatsApp chat history from Android. After doing that, the phone did not suggest the UK on the top of the list of countries like the first time I set it up. When I reached the main screen, 4 apps were missing which are iMovies, GarageBand and two more. I'm confused now and worried that I might erased more things that I haven't noticed. How would you explain the missing apps? And what more doyou thinkhas been erased? I feel like the phone has lost its new personalisation.

Please help!!!

Thanks may do this tomorrow then to be sure - I got a message saying it had failed to activate so I’m not sure if in 24 hours if the activation will work or if it’s stopped trying now.
I had exactly this problem you had. Went into EE with ID and they created and sorted my eSim there and there. Defo give it a try.

That’s correct erasing the phone will remove those apps but they can be downloaded from the App Store, those apps you mentioned are the only apps Apple ‘preload’ with a new phone (apart from all the other stock apps)

You could have just deleted WhatsApp and reinstalled, to restart the migration no?

Thank you so much for your reply.

How about the United Kingdom as the main language in the set up which hasn't appeared the 2nd time? Do you think there is anything else that might have been erased? :(

I couldn't as the old phone was Android and the only possible way is to start "Move to IOS" which can only be done during the set up.

Got mine 14pro in purple delivered this morning, took a while to transfer the esim as it wasn’t clear thanks to EE.

Loving having a pro model again after 3 years, plus the colour complements my Midnight M2 Air.

I had issues with the e sim transfer with EE. It wouldn’t work so had to generate a qr code from the app. It wasn’t the smoothest transfer I’ve had to an iPhone compared to previous upgrades where I just restored from a backup.
