What model are you getting?

I had this issue and called my card issuer who sorted it out for me. Apparently there were too many (old) devices against my card.
There was also a service outage with Apple Pay last night that was preventing Visa cards being added to Wallet (it wouldn‘t add mine). Fixed now.
You joined the forum to say this?
Probably works for Samsung 😉
Congratulations to all of you who received the new iPhone today..

This is my first time getting an iPhone. After I finished setting it up, I realised that I have to erase it to transfer WhatsApp chat history from Android. After doing that, the phone did not suggest the UK on the top of the list of countries like the first time I set it up. When I reached the main screen, 4 apps were missing which are iMovies, GarageBand and two more. I'm confused now and worried that I might erased more things that I haven't noticed. How would you explain the missing apps? And what more doyou thinkhas been erased? I feel like the phone has lost its new personalisation.

Please help!!!
When you do an erase it does remove all but the basic apps that come with the OS but as said above you can just download them for free from the App Store. You can’t erase any important OS components by wiping the phone.
if my understanding is correct unless you shoot in RAW it’s still a 12mp camera?
Yes and no: the 1x camera uses the full 48MP but combines the pixels to give a 12MP output with better quality esp in low light. There’s an article on DPreview that explains it better if you’re interested.

Quick question, will be heading out to pick up phone shortly, do I update old phone to IOS 16 before prep to transfer ?

Still can't decide on phone case colour, Succulent or Sunglow with DP :)

Thankyou :)

Has anyone noticed they have considerable more storage on their new phone compared to previous model?
Upgraded to IP 14 Pro Max from 13 Pro Max, both models 128gb version.
On 13PM i had 76gb remaining storage, while after transferring everything over to new 14PM i have 95gb storage remaining so almost 20gb extra storage has come from somewhere???
Both models absolutely identical in terms of photos, videos, messages and apps etc.

Now trying to reserve a standard pro on iUP so don’t need to pay now but the stock locations keep changing. Just missed one in local store and wife won’t travel to Newcastle or Sheffield unless i treat her to night away!!!

Finally got home from work and set up my Gold iPhone 14 Pro.

Love the DI, love the AOD and loving iOS 16.
I'm very happy with 'Toned down Gold back'
It' doesn't scream 'Look at my new shiny Gold i=phone'
Though sides certainly ooze quality Gold effect.
Overall as predicted recently by other macrumours users, it's definitely Not iphone 6 Rose Gold.
Thankfully.

You’ll end up with multiple credit searches/accounts. Stick with the one you’ve ordered.
I’m not sure that’s totally right. I ended up with doing a few last year and I did the pre-order application which I didn’t use, then did another one yesterday morning.

There have been no problems with them and i Don’t recall seeing multiple hard searches, but there were many soft ones.

you will get a few accounts though but they get cancelled out easily enough if you don’t get the phones:)

Woke up to the satisfying 'all done' feeling, my entire 250GB photo library was all downloaded overnight so my phone is now all set up with everything downloaded onto the device. Using 348GB of 512GB so I have a third of the storage free for whatever, maybe shooting more in 48MB ProRAW etc.

I must say I'm really happy with this phone, I upgrade yearly and have done for a long time and I haven't had this 'feeling' about my phone since iPhone X came out (I vividly remember that November - they were delayed that year - and it was such a huge change for iPhone, and I took it to a big fireworks night parade and took some awesome shots).

There's something about the dynamic island, always on display and also switching to a new colour this year which makes this phone feel brand new to me and a major upgrade.

I'm gonna miss this thread and all you guys though. I'm just going to keep dropping in regardless now and then even if I'm talking to myself in the end! 😂

Same. Been another great year in the run up to launch with you guys. Will be checking out (so to speak) after today. It’s not a goodbye, more of a see you later (10 months later in fact when we’ll no doubt be using this very thread to chat about iPhone 15 🤣)

How did the sides hold up whilst being caseless. I’ve not been caseless since the X. Was considering AppleCare+ for the protection.
Pretty good, one corner got dinged very slightly but overall I still prefer caseless.

Any time I have dropped the phone, it’s been my own fault as opposed to it being slippery etc.

With AC+ (now covers unlimited accidental damage), I’m happier to go caseless 90% and use my leather case if going somewhere riskier.

Wow - is that downloading all of the originals or just the thumbnails (i.e. using “optimise iPhone storage”)?
Originals. I like the idea that in the event of some sort of doomsday solar flare scenario (or something 🥴), I can skim through those old square Instagram shots from uni with the polaroid filters and wacky borders circa 2009 etc 🤣

On a more serious note it's just nice to know everything's on device for me - same with all my music. 😊

Banking apps are the worst. Appreciate its a security layer and it’s your money they are protecting but Sainsburys bank for example needed to change a phone number and had to answer several questions from my credit report which I just didn’t know so failed now my account is locked and I have to have a letter in the post until then cannot use my credit card. Who sits there with a copy of their credit report to change a number?

It needed to send a security code to change number to the old number I no longer have. I know basically that’s my fault but should not have to go through my credit history to be able to change a phone number.

I was going to use this phone without a case and if dropped / damaged then use my AppleCare to get a replacement. If I’ve got to go through those 4 hours again with the rest of the bank apps I might just basically never take the phone out of the house.

There has to be a better way whilst maintaining security. It’s ridiculous. As people have said photos of passports and then being referred for manual checks for the next 24 hours too. Not right.
Monzo just sends you an email (for new device/app install) which I am happy with as my email password is secure.

I find the 14 Pro Max has a better grip than last years 13 Pro Max? Anyone else think it's more grippy this year?

I agree, this is the first upgrade in a while I have felt like it was actually a big change. I am looking forward to another iPhone X moment though.

I had a really good install experience this year for some reason it actually kept me logged in to everything and it copied over my authenticator app this year with all my codes. I then set up another phone and it did none of the above so I think it is just luck sometimes.

I did my back up from iCloud which took a matter of minutes and then like you, was logged into the majority of things besides banking apps. I was very pleasantly surprised.

Interested to hear this - I prefer the PM screen size but it was a pain to use caseless and with a case on, it wouldn’t fit in the cup holder in my car so ended up rattling around in the door pocket.

I switched back to Pro as a result.
