Thanks for the replies about the screen protector. The reason I asked was because the white iPhone obviously has the extra slit for the prox sensor/light sensor and there are no ready made screen protectors that I could find specifically made for it (i.e. had the extra slit already in).

The black iPhone has the same slit, you just can't see it as clearly.

Seems everyone is going for the white as they got the black one originally.

I have the white 4, so annoying that everyone will now have a white one :D
I kid ha.

Though it does seem white will be the favourable colour. And rightly so as it is so much better looking than the black - in pictures and in the flesh.

I'm undecided what to do. Looking to get the 16gb 4s as a girl at work wants my white 4 - offering £320 for it. That means I will have to pay £180 for the sim free 4s - that's the kind of money people are going to be paying for the 4s with a network provider - plus they will be in a contract for 18/24 months paying god knows how much a month.
So seems like a decent deal for me...

My iPhone 4 contract is with voda and is 12 months. Ends in April next year and is £40 a month for unlimited texts, 900 mins and loads of data.
I like the deal I have with them, plus the yearly upgrade is good.

Just can't decide if I wanna pay the £180 or not...

This is exactly the same situation I'm in, my iP4 sold for £315, woman collected today.
In contract with vodafone until June, so need to put £185 towards iPhone, and I'd still be with my contract.

My thinking is, I get the 4s now for £185, when the iP5 comes out, sell for what, £350...By that time my vodafone contract will either have run out, or be coming to an end, get the 5 64gb on contract subsidised, use that £350 sold the 4s for, to pay for 10 months of contract.

I just tracked a white iPhone 4 on ebay and it went for £400!
If mine goes for that I will be made up ha.

My thinking is the same as yours - and I am really leaning to making the 'upgrade' - loose term lol. :p

I see me keeping my contract and when it comes to renewal in April - if there is no iPhone 5 by then (which is highly highly unlikely) I will just upgrade to another 4s and sell it. Keep the money to one side, then when the 5 comes, sell the 4s I have had since launch and put both those 4s sales money together to buy outright.

I have it all worked out... ;)

I'm doing well convincing myself ha

So general feeling is that pre orders will start at 8.01 tomorrow?!

I know I'll end up staying up until midnight tonight, just in case!!!

Hi folks !
I'm out of contract and lucky enough to have the money to buy upfront (sold my house and moved in with my fiancé couple of weeks back). So it'll be the 16gb for me (I keep all my shiz on a server anyway). White or black though ? I've never seen either the white or the black 4 in the flesh and am unlikely to by tomorrow so, no idea. Some of the folks who say one or the other in the flesh - how so ? Sorry if this has been covered, haven't read the whole thread yet.

So giff gaff ..

Im tempted to buy outright also and then pay £10 a month however

So this is unlimited data right? I only need a couple of GB so i dont care about truely unlimited massive amounts.

Can i tether?

And you say its provided by o2? So what do i see on my iphone screen? o2 or giff gaff?

Who do i call for support in terms of coverage issues etc? O2?

You don't call anyone, you have to post on GG's forums. They not have telephone support. If it's something serious then it'll get raised with tech support I believe.

It is unlimited (I hear giffgaffers talk of a 30GB warning) but no tethering allowed. Also it will display O2 UK on you phone.

All support is done on the forums over at giffgaff.co.uk, there is no phone support, that's why their prices are so cheap.

Will 02 still be offering the simplicity deals for £20ish per month with a larger upfront phone cost? Might go for that, and trade in my 32gb 3GS.

They are offering data bundles soon that will allow tethering, but these will cost extra and be limited. They are still keeping Unlimited data if you just use it through the Phone though.

I'm still very nervous about a pre-order.

apple.com says...

"Pre-order from 7 October for delivery beginning 14 October"

If it doesn't arrive on 14th, i'll be without it for a week as I'm away on the 15th :(

It's looking like a queue at the Trafford Centre, unless Apple can guarantee a 14th delivery.

bit of a tangent, but does anyone from northern ireland use 3? Just wondering what they're like for coverage etc as O2 are woeful

I use 3, I find that they have fantastic 3G coverage in populated areas in the country and the speed is excellent. When you stray into rural areas you tend to drop down to 2G which is actually supplied by Orange. It depends where you live but I find 3 are miles better than O2 in terms of 3G coverage and speed where I live and visit (major towns and Belfast). Their coverage checker is pretty accurate.

Does visual voicemail work on it?

There will be an initial allocation for delivery on the 14th. Just make sure you are one of the first to guarantee it. If your delivery date isnt the 14th after you place your pre-order, just cancel it.

I've decided im going to defect over from blackberry to the iphone.

i technically still have over a yr left on my 24 month BB contract, so im going to buy a 4s outright from apple. im going to preorder on friday for delivery.

now my question is about the micro sim! im with orange atm, how do i do about getting a micro sim and getting everything transferred over?

Just ask Orange on their customer support line. Alternatively, visit an Orange store and pop in for a micro sim. Once you get the iPhone 4S, ring up customer services to transfer the services from one sim to the other.

Pretty much in agreement here!

My only issue is my hometown has crap 2G never mind 3G but I can live with that...I would say they're overall better tbh!
