Well I've had a 3GS and currently have had my iPhone 4 for a year. I like to have a new phone every year if possible, but have to say was a little disappointed at the updates from my iPhone 4 to 4S. believe me I wanted it so bad to be a bigger update, but people who have 3G or 3GS, wow thats a massive update I agree.
So I may go (whispers) to Android, as I fancy a phone with a bigger screen. I'm on 3 on PAYG £15/month add on, unlimited dat enough mins+txts for me, so its hard to get a contract as good as this, so may just buy SIM free.
My iPhone 4 was bought from an Apple retail store so is unlocked, hoping to get at least £300 for it, HTC Sensation is around £380, or Sammy S2 £400 so not too much to pay.
I have an iMac, iPad 2, touch's etc so am an Apple fan but just feel there no real update for me.
I think the iPhone 5 will be a massive update though, and nothing would make me feel better than to come back to this next year
Anyone else thin same as me?
Try Android first. I have been for the last 6 months and i hate it.
Can I ask why please? Whats wrong with it? Is it software or hardware problem? What phone have you got. I'd rather stay with Apple as I have iPad 2 etc, I'll probably come back next year for iPhone 5, but interested to know what you think
cheers
Looking at the Apple Store UK it appears that pre-orders are for the unlocked phones only. In store purchasers can choose a network etc.sorry but im a tad confused!
IF i pre order a 4S tomorrow morning as soon as apple allows direct from the apple store
can i order it as a contract with a courier and not sim free? if so can i select a carrier? - and will it give me prices of said carrier or do i just order it and hope its cheap :S
I dont want it sim free i want a brand new 24 month contract.
I thought it was midnight
It started at 4AM PST

You might be better off pre-ordering directly from the carrier of your choice or though Carphone Warehouse etc. I think the carriers will announce their pricing tomorrow ... saw an article the other day that they are still working out the pricing.
I think it was either 8am or 9am UK time, pretty sure it wasn't midnight anyway.
I have just spoken to "Brian" at the On-Line Apple Store 0800 048 0408 he told me that you can order your iPhone 4s from midnight tonight (6th Oct) or Phone sales from 8am (7th Oct) for UK purchases.![]()
Ah, crap. Ignore that last comment of mine about t-mobile.. yes, of course, like somebody else said they merged with orange and are now the same company. My phone regularly switches to t-mobile, so I should know that by now
So yeah, it's the same deal as orange - because it is orange. With the same "quality" customer service, so no actual benefit.
Orange and T-Mobil have not merged and are not the same company. They are two separate businesses who share the same cell towers. In other words they have access to each others cell towers for their customers.
Is anyone able to clarify for me weather or not I will be able to pre-order online for an in store pick up?
I'm at uni at the moment and I don't really want it just being delivered to the reception of my college where basically anyone could pick it up (they aren't too hot on checking you are who you say you are).
Based on last year...when you pre-order for in-store pickup, you pay nothing, you just specify which colour and size, it's not really a pre-order just a reservation. I did this last year and paid nothing upfront. IIRC you are just reserving a physical phone and can choose carrier/plan or buy-out-right when you get to the store (or get to the front of the reservation queue).Yes, I'd like to know this too.
I am at work on Friday 14th, but can get to my "local" Apple store by 2pm.
I would ideally like to pre-order a SIM free 16Gb White 4s tomorrow morning for me to collect from my Apple store, in person, on the 14th.
Also, if I can pre-order it this way, do you pay for it when you pre-order it, or when you collect it?
Thanks.
I hope people don't mind me posting this on the thread, but it is iPhone related..
I don't want another 24 month contract, so i'm working out the cheapest, best way of keeping up with the new releases....
I was thinking a 12 month sim only contract could be the way forward, and purchasing the phone from the Apple shop direct! Here are the price comparisons i've worked out from o2....
Oh and Apple have released the 4s prices, £499 for 16gb, £599 for 32gb, and £699 for 64gb.... so....
12 months SIM only contract...
£21 per month.
500mb data
600 minutes
unlimited texts
total cost £258 per year..
Phone cost £599 32gb
Total £857
As apposed to (based on iphone 4 NOT 4s) prices on o2
£42 per month
600 minutes
unlimited texts
500mb data
phone cost £243.99
over 18 months the cost would be £1000
Any help advice on this guys? I can't find a 12 month contract to compare!
Thanks.
Jordan
Actually, that is not strictly speaking correct. Orange and T-Mobile in the UK are both owned by Everything Everywhere. Everything Everywhere is jointly owned by France Telecom and T-Mobile. They are currently in the process of merging the networks and infrastructure. Presently, T-Mobile and 3 share the same 3G radio network and customers of Orange and T-Mobile can roam onto each others 2G networks.
I work for one of Everything Everywhere's suppliers and am an ex-Orange employee.

Honestly, just try it. Coming from iOS i think you will be seriously disappointed unless you are the type of person that loves messing around with settings and reloading different ROMs on to the phone on a daily basis.

In contrast pre-order for delivery, was buy-out-right only and you (obviously) had to pay for it.
If you can get to a store it gives you an option to bank a phone before finding out the final tariffs from the carriers (which last year were still being published on the release day) and deciding if you're going to buy or take out a contract.
Hope this helps.
That sim only deal is a little bit expensive, I'm sure you can find something cheaper. My deal was a special offer that is not currently available but it will be again soon.
T-Mobile 12 months sim only
600 minutes
500 texts
unlimited internet or so they say
I also added a t mobile unlimited calls booster for 5.10p so I'm paying about 12:82 for it all before the booster it was about 7:72 as they were doing a deal where they discount the normal tariff by 7:50 or something like that...

3 last year did not sell the iPhone 4 straight away, they started selling them a couple of months after launch.I know last year O2 were only allowing upgrades on launch and not new contracts, does anyone know if Orange and 3 were the same?
Just phone your operator's customer service line, they HAVE to give it you on request. No point in doing it now, as they expire after a short time.if i decide to leave how easy is it to get my pac as i cant actually phone them ?
