I wish they would release some information about what is happening tomorrow. Are they going to try and make us pre-order a non existent contract and hope we'll pay. I really want to know how much the phones are going to cost on contract, hopefully not ridiculous prices though others I'll stick another year with my first gen.

You can't pre-order contract phones from Apple in the UK - so it is unlikely you will be able to pre-order tomorrow unless the networks decide to offer pre-orders through their own websites or somewhere like Carphone Warehouse or Phones 4 U start pre-orders.

Last year I don't think any of the networks offered pre-orders, other than Vodafone.

yep you get your PAC from whatever network you are on now, then you get a sim card from giffgaff and tell giffgaff the PAC code then 2 days later you have your old number on the new network like nothing changed.

giffgaff is it's own network any problems you go to giffgaff, it just uses o2 network for coverage (it's an MVNO), other than that it is it's own network.

Ah right, I see! Whats the customer service like and stuff like that tho? Anyone had problems with them?

Thats got me thinking now:confused: if i hold on to my iphone 4 until the iphone 5 comes out nobody will want to buy it maybe i should sell it now while i can

no you will still be able to sell the iphone 4 next year you can still buy and sell old iphones now for good money.

So to (try) and clear this up....if I pre-order an iPhone for pickup in an apple store (if I can even do that?!) then can I pay in store and choose a contract in store? Or do I have to order from somewhere else entirely for contract (I'm starting a fresh one)? I'm so confused!

you buy from apple if you want to buy it sim free (meaning you have to provide your own sim), if you want to get one on contract you need to go to a network. it all depends what you want and can afford.

Hey guys, I currently have a 3GS on O2 PAYG and am looking to pre-order the 4S tomorrow. The things is though that I was wondering what my best option is in terms of getting the micro-sim. Would I be safe cutting down my current one and putting it into my 4S? I just don't really fancy messing about with PAC codes and going out to the nearest O2 store on release day. I'm impatient I know, ;)

I'm not on giffgaff myself but apparently they only support people through their web forum not on the phone, but because they are a PAYG network I can't honestly can't think of a reason why you would need to talk to them outside of giving in your PAC and then again to request a PAC if you leave the network.
buying credit is all done by logging into their website.

I don't mind messing I really don't, its part of the fun 9to me anyway!). Regarding ROMS, I'm not bothered on putting different ROMs on there just to try, updates of rate OS ye, but I'll stick to official updates.

Whats the OS like though compared to iOS, just as smooth, all stuff in there, multitasking, rotation lock, music in background, Web browsing etc?

cheers

It horrendous. I hate it with a passion. I was open to the idea of Android, but its just flawed in everything.

Ah, I didn't realise it was pay as you go, i think i'd prefer a monthly price plan where there is no worry of running out of anything... unless it works different to normal pay as you go?

you can go to an o2 store and ask for your sim to be converted into a microsim it only takes a few minuets, because you are going to use the same network PACs don't come into play, yes you can cut your current sim down but since getting a micro sim is free I wouldn't cut it myself.

you put credit on the sim then every month you buy a bundle which gives you your mins, texts and data, I can't say it would be a massive faff but you could set a calendar notification to remind you every month.

Will the education store update when the main site does?

how do you mean? there are no education discounts on the iPhone, it's full price or nothing.

Hmm Thanks for all the info, i'll look into it when all the price plans are up, and work out the savings! I think for an extra £50 per year, as its a business, I'd rather have "phone" support if i need it, just looked at a few reviews, and some people have had problems adding the credit, this would cost me more than £50 if that ever happened.... if it wasn't a business line, it would be fab!

yeah if it for business then it will likely be worth it for extra support if needed.

Well they sell them on there, I assumed they knocked a bit off.

Okay so I have a normal o2 sim on contract, would they be able to cut it to micro sim and put me on pay as you go?

Or would I need a new sim for that?

Go into a store and ask them to either transfer you onto a microsim or cut your SIM down

I refuse to pay £700 for a phone

I will be getting the 16Gb White

I've always wanted 64GBs of memory, and didn't get a chance to get the IP4 last year. So I decided (about 10 months ago) that I'd definitely get whichever phone they release this year :). £700 is a lot of money but 64GB cards aren't cheap I guess :p.
