Verizon dropped the ball

I pre ordered my phone from verizon online and I received my phone yesterday in the afternoon, happy as can be because I went without a phone for two months so I could have the new iPhone and when I synced up my new phone everything seemed to be going well until I used it and then the problems started to happen. The phone did not let me send group texts and I checked my contacts numbers and noticed that the numbers were like 1234567890 instead of (123) 456-7890 or there were +1 on some of my contacts. The contacts synced up from my address book on my mac and I thought maybe it was a sync issue so I called apple and they couldn't figure out what was wrong until they asked if I could go into the settings and check the contacts tab and see how many options it gave me and it only had sort order, display order, my info and import sim contacts. So they checked the serial number and determined that my phone that verizon sent me was a U.K. locked phone for vodafone. They called verizon for me explained the situation to them, verizon said they will call me back and they never did so later on in the day I called verizon and I was connected with a woman who said that verizon would never make the mistake and send me a vodafone and that Apple has no idea what they are talking about. She insinuated that it was my fault and that I had a lack of communication with apple and there is no way it would work on their service. It's a global phone that will work internationally. She spoke to me as if I never dealt with a phone before and I was not inputing the numbers correctly and that the dashes don't mean anything and that texts work on her iPhone 4. I can't believe that verizon hires such ignorant people. Apple said they would exchange my phone so I am hoping that is true. Any U.K. members have my phone please send it back, lol.

Can anyone on 3 PAYG check if tethering and personal hotspot is available please...still deciding whether to activate my giffgaff sim or 3 sim and this could decide it for me (yes I know tethering is not allowed but it would be limited occasional use).

Yep I have tethering on my £10 a month plan :)

hmmm not that i use it all the time but why is it that on pay and go we can do personal jot spot or something ???

3 Tethering on PAYG

I'm on totally PAYG and have the 'tethering' option on my phone. Am I allowed to just use it or will I somehow get charged more?? .. I just (at the moment) got an add=on for 500MB etc etc for the month so as long as I don't go over that it should be ok?! (I'm hoping! lol)

I'm on Three and it's on Settings then from the top there is Airplane Mode then Wi-Fi and then Personal Hotspot .. it works great (using my ipad to connect) but I just want to know it's not going to cost me a heap of money somehow! lol

Did anyone else miss their delivery (via UPS) yesterday, prepare to pick up from the depot, only to find out that it was re-shipped this morning as opposed to the usual next business day re-delivery?

A nice touch I think - by either UPS or Apple to get it to me today for no extra cost!

What issues have you had?

Im hoping to get my Iphone from Apple next week and Im on 3. I'll need to swap to a micro sim - they told me on the phone i just need to go into one of their stores, pick up a microsim and it would be done within 24 hours

ok an update
rang 3, finally got through. got told i needed to activate my sim again?
told them i'd already done it, but insisted it hadn't been processed.

anyway went into Solihull shopping, popped into the 3 store and told an advisor what had happened, or not happened i should say.
he rang them up and to his credit gave them a right mouthful (no bad language lol), he said that all they had done is give me the "script talk" of the 24 hours etc
he put the phone down and told me they have activated it now but can take 4 hours!
went into homemade burger for a meal, ordered (so say about 20 mins after leaving the 3 store) and i signal and 3g yay!

You won't get charged more, but Three only allow tethering on 'The One Plan' which is £25pm sim only. Not sure what action they take when / if they find out.

Its one of the reasons I went for 'The One Plan' (albeit on contract).

Three let you use a hotspot. It isn't on general it is under wifi in settings.

I'm on three payg as well and the tethering is working. I got the sim yesterday from apple. I'm not going to use it in case I get charged.

Well... after I was disappointed with Apple's iPhone 4S announcement, I went out and got myself a SGS2. But when I was packing my iPhone 4 away to sell it, it dawned on me just how gorgeous the phone is, and I really miss it :(

So I was considering selling the SGS2, and using the money from that and the iPhone 4 to buy a 4S.

Before I do though, are most of you happy with it? Can Siri understand a Belfast accent?

I heard thick accents don't work well, but I'm not sure how think your accent it. Scottish people have more issues though, you should be fine.

You could go into a shop and demo siri see if it works for you. If it does buy the iPhone then sell the SGS2.

Just wondering. After having bought the 16Gb 4S from Apple online, I find I wish I had bought the 32Gb now

As I bought it from Apple online, am I allowed to take it into an Apple store to return it for a refund? or does a return/refund have to be done online, seeing as I bought it online?

I have used it. Synced it to my iTunes. Would that make a difference?

Thanks,
Kevin

im in london tomorrow and am wanting to buy an iphone 4s 16gb anyone got any clues as to which apple stores will have them in stock?
