UK iPhone 4S thread.

It's network based.

I'm on Three with a sim-only deal and tethering/personal hotspot is enabled and part of my 1GB usage. Very fast as well, can't beat Three for 3G coverage and quality. I once used it instead of an ADSL connection as it was quicker!

It seems to be a little hit and miss. I find myself speaking at it more by annunciating words rather than naturally, but TBH its better than I thought. Picks up most things with minimal error and after correcting somethings manually its got better.

For me, I find the UK English is working better than the American and Australian version - contrary to some of the other UK dialects reports.

As I bought it from Apple online, am I allowed to take it into an Apple store to return it for a refund? or does a return/refund have to be done online, seeing as I bought it online?

I have used it. Synced it to my iTunes. Would that make a difference?

Yes, you are perfectly allowed to return it. Just call Apple Customer Services. Read the small print on the online store for more info.
 
anybody know of a website that stocks the 4s cases in the uk ?
i don't want to order from the ones that say it will fit a 4 / 4s as i know there is a very slight difference ?

actually exactly what I'm looking for lol
i had the switch easy one for the 4 but it just had cut outs for each button so it doesn't fit now lol

its tough but you can also examine which ones will fit by looking at the hole for the mute button

I have a marware accent,a beautiful leather case, and its fine because the hole is big enough

there are also cases like the yoobao where so much of the side is open it doesn't matter

the biggest problem are the hard shells. Here you should definitely only get ones newly designed for the 4s or ones that say they are compatible with the 4 CDMA (which has the same layout as the 4s)

I was pretty peeved that my iPhone 4 bumper didn't even fit as I bought it when the white iPhone came out, so I don't know why the UK Store wasn't selling the 'universal' one like it does now.

Also, according to the UK Apple store, the Incase Snap clear should fit the 4s.. I don't know if it's updated but it says it fits both, I'd be sceptical, at this stage I'd pretty much only buy a case that has a large cut out that I know would give me enough room for all three buttons.
 
guys i need a new iphone tomorow, vodafone are the only ones selling the 4s pay as you go and its available, i want to know can i unlock the new 4s to other networks?

vodafone do offer unlocking on their website i know i did min (on an iPhone 4) for free a couple of months back but they may charge you for unlocking it check first

as long as i can unlock it, do you know if the iphone will have any stupid branding on it from vodafone?

unless they have changed it from a couple of months ago the no

the white iPhone 4 i got on contract had NO branding not sure apple does phone branding to be honest
 
Well just ordered my 4S on three via the quidco offer. Will be cancelling my O2 contract when it arrives. Really disappointed with O2.

So I can just walk into an Apple store and return it for a refund (even though I bought it online)?
 
im getting it on pay as you go and the guy on chat just said i can dial 191 and unlock it for £19.99, looks like im getting it tomoz!!!!!
 
Does anyone have explanations for why in the day at around 3PM today I didn't get a 3G signal on one street (very busy street) then at 8PM tonight (5 hours later) I could? Does the amount of people in a certain area at once make 3G less available? Or was it just a weird coincidence?

No you can't. You have to call Apple online customer services and tell them you want to return it. They will give you an RMA number which you will have to write clearly on the packaging. They will arrange for a courier to come and pick it up, probably the same one that delivered it. They will issue a refund once they have received it and are satisfied it's as new and in sellable condition. This can take several working days. You also have to make the call to return it within 14 days of receiving it.

If you order from the UK online Apple store or buy from a retail Apple store here it will be unlocked. The US market is different and I'm not sure whether it's due to specific laws or what but they won't be available unlocked until next month there. Even when the iPhone 4 came out it was available unlocked through Apple from launch but the US had to wait several months for them.
 
I was also wondering if I could take my online order to a store and swap it for a white one. Guess I'll need to buy a white one in store and return mine online.
 
I read a few posts where people weren't happy because the white one didn't look white and was more of a creamy colour. To me the white one looks white just like the white iPhone 4 and 3GS. If anything it actually looks whiter then my white iPad 2. I'm happy with the colour.

Me too. Even my Apple hatin' friend was like 'woah' when he saw it. I lol'd.
 
any reason why orange still have not activated my sim from 9am this morning ??? upgraded from my 3gs that was on orange to the 4s transferring my number over but nothing has happened all day :confused:

I enquired about this, Apple said they can do anything regarding contracts, but O2 quite confidently told me that Apple can not process fast track upgrades, would need to be through O2, CPW or P4U :D
