for those who pre-ordered the phone and get it on time last friday, I'm facing a strange thing.

My iPhone was delivered on time..
and during the shipment, it seems like they gave me a full refund of the money I used to purchase the phone.
the amounts of my savings increased all the sudden to the exact amount before I spent it, and it's been the 3rd day ever since then.

At first I thought that it's Apple's policy to give a full refund during every shipment period to avoid accident-on-delivery, unless safely delivered.
I've checked a whole month of my account's statement, and there's no one paid in to my account.

Is this normal, guys?

Thank you :)

it was not a refund and you didnt pay

your card was preauthorised at the time of the order, this lasts for 48-72 hours, then lapses, hence why the money went back into your account

it shows Apple that had the funds available and thus they shipped the product

Apple now have the authorisation to retake the money at anytime using the authorisation codes they will have been given, even if you withdrew all your savings and left the balance at £0 the funds will still come out and your would be charged for going overdrawn

leave the funds in the account, you did not get a free iPhone :)

Apple need to drop TNT as any sort of viable delivery option. I cannot believe the trouble we are having getting one of our phones shipped to us.

On Friday they couldn't deliver claiming recipient not home when I was home all day AND we have a concierge.
They said they would redeliver the same day. At the end of the day we find out they didn't bother.
It's supposed to be sent out Saturday. Again they fail and claim we're not home.
We call again and find out the driver actually can't find us. WHAT?!

- We live in a huge apartment building on a large street in central london!
-- What sort of DELIVERY COMPANY doesn't have navigation?
--- TNT doesn't give their drivers any way to communicate with the customer or with their central exchange (which would be helpful if they have no navigation or a clue of what the hell they are doing)
---- They recommend picking it up at their depot. Even if I ignore the fact that this is supposed to be A DELIVERY their depot is in Barking. BARKING! (no thanks) and not only that but it's the middle of nowhere in Barking so you need a car or goddamn buses to get there.
The whole thing is so ridiculous I cannot believe I am dealing with this from an international logistics and delivery company.

Two days have been spent waiting around for these inept twunts NOT to deliver and here I am again waiting for a third day. I'm furious! There is no way anyone should have to put up with this after buying such an expensive piece of tech. There was no point even pre-ordering considering all this BS. Up yours, TNT.

I know what you mean, but my frustration was aimed at Carphone Warehouse, as they addressed my phone to my name and simply 'East Sussex', no first line or even town, city. The best bit was that it took until the third phone call at 3 on Friday afternoon to find out. Immediately cancelled my order and luckily picked one up walking in to a store on Saturday.

i'm going to buy one unlocked from apple at some point to avoid another 2 year contract. What would be the best network/rolling plan for me to join?

GiffGaff are good in my opinion. £10 Goodybag gives you a month with 250 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet.

Their other charges are comparitively cheap outside of the monthly allowances too.

Here's what I get from you guys so far...

So basically Apple will again re-take the money after they get the report from the delivery courier that delivers our iPhone, isn't it? Mine was UPS, and it's reported as DELIVERED in my Apple ID account.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Has anyone been to regent street / white city and know if they've got any more stock? can't get through to any of them on the phone..

they take it sometime after it has been delivered, could be the same day, could be the next, could be in a week. just at some point they will take it, therefore keep that money in your account otherwise you will be stung for the overdraft fees.

I concur. If you want SIM only GiffGaff cannot be beat.

TNT are such a useless clusterf*** of an organisation it cost Apple £40 to shut me up.

Apple Regent Street sold out no info on when coming in. 3 oxford circus instock, want £15 on top of standard price for payg sim. carphonewarehouse, oxford street, contract only. How strong is the rumour that apple will be back in stock tomorrow?

Got tired of waiting for Apple, so have just cancelled my O2 plan, paid £100 for the right and moving to Three! - For £15 less p/m I get more than O2 plus unlimited data/tethering!

Got my tracking number just now (2 hours after order was placed), scheduled for delivery tomorrow!

Three DID give me the option of buying PAYG for same costs as apple locked to three's network, so those awaiting apple orders to put on Three may be able to get it sooner going direct and calling their CS

Has anyone managed to achieve an early upgrade at an Apple Store? o2 seems to think this needs to be done through them.

I have a friend at work who upgraded early with O2 (including some kind of 'special deal') in our local Phones4U, so although that doesn't answer your Apple Store question, it does show that it can be done outside of calling them directly.

I caved in, my 64gb white 4S should be with me in the next couple of days courtesy of Tesco Mobile

Me and a friend want to buy outright. What's the best way to get it lads? Dont mind paying a few quid more.

Apple for sure. Online orders have a small waiting time on them at the moment, but actual Apple Stores should have a decent amount of stock in.

I am going the giffgaff way, their traiff is amazing

Edit - Just noticed, how did you manage to get one through tesco, their reservation system is so random!
