Really? I checked at the Apple store in Reading totally OOS. Also checked using the link to reserve one its out of stock at every apple store

I am going the giffgaff way, their traiff is amazing

Edit - Just noticed, how did you manage to get one through tesco, their reservation system is so random!

That sucks, sorry I based my recommendation on what I saw over the weekend at my local shopping centre.

Tesco are completely random, but I put my name down when they began registration last week, and they sent me a text about it yesterday (when their call centre was down ). I phoned this afternoon and done:cool:

Bad side: my data plan doesn't allow tethering which sucks, but it's not a deal breaker considering that I plan to jailbreak it as soon as I can :)

Also their delivery date is quite vague, she said it will be between 3-5 days, I kinda was hoping they would send it out for tomorrow :p

I'm jealous of you guys on GiggGaff. Wish I could have afforded to get the 4S out of contract.

I'm now paying £37 a month for less than a £20 GiffGabb sim :(

When your contract is up you can aways unlock your iPhone and sell it then put that money towards the latest model and buy it outright! Then go for a cheaper deal with GiffGaff, it's what I did and worked out pretty well!

I will definitely do that. Its just a shame thats going to be 2 years away. Damn you economy!

I concur. If you want SIM only GiffGaff cannot be beat.

TNT are such a useless clusterf*** of an organisation it cost Apple £40 to shut me up.
you say this but am I right in saying that you miss certain features such as visual voicemail, and you have to also go through a load of other hassle like manually 'giffgaffing' your iPhone in the phone settings or something. Briefly read this on their forums and it put me right off.

Has anyone upgraded from a 4 to a 4s? What are your thoughts? Also, is there an improvement in level of reception i.e. does it hold a network signal better? I know there is an antenna improvement to avoid the death grip scenario but does this also improve reception? Reviews seem a little aloof in this regard at the moment.

I get 1 bar more at home than I did on my 4. Quality seems about the same but it holds 3G better.

Anyone else having the mic issue?

I'm bringing mine to the Covent Garden Genius Bar tomorrow. If it needs a swap, I really hope they have stock (4S 64GB Black). Does anyone know if retail stores even keep stock reserved for repairs/swaps?

How is the call sound quality?

Iphones have always been somewhat lacking in call sound quality compared to say, Sony Ericsson handsets. Is there any improvement in the 4S on UK networks?

The speed is not perticularly noticeable until I go back to my original iPad, where as it used to be "a bit" slower than my 4, it now feels interminably slow, even after the iOS 5 upgrade. Web browsing is faster and the phone does feel slicker. I think there may be a price to pay in terms of battery.

Network performance, anecdotally I would say yes. What used to be 4 bars tends now to be 5 (on T-Mobile), at home for example. That said where I currently work is a complete network black hole (for all networks). Give me back 1960's asbestos - phone signal penetrated that much better than 2011 cladding!

Finally,

This one is confirmed for me.

For me the wi-fi is massively better .. it was atrocious on my iPhone 4 .. the 3G too is at least one bar stronger everywhere so far!! .. a very real difference.

Also, I am noticing how fast it is .. my apps load quicker and the internet pages load quicker.

The screen looks nicer to me but that may just be personal preference :)

All in all a solid upgrade and with £294 for my old 64GB it's well worth it .. the wi-fi/3G issues were driving me nuts!! OH! And no matter how I try, I can't do the 'death grip' on it! lol *phew* glad all that antenna-gate thing is over with!!

----------

I have my phone from apple and am already doing the Three PAYG thing but was looking at the tesco pricing this afternoon!

Just may be worth a check for some people.

For me (64GB black) I would have to spend less than £7.91 a month on calls/data/text to make the sim-free version worth it!! (I was looking at 12 month £25 a month on Tesco)

It was weird that the 12 month contract worked out better value than the 24 month one!!!

If I'd not got in on the first batch from Apple Online I'd be doing the Tesco one for sure ..

I'm not paid by them or working for them but the prices could help some of you out ...

I ordered an iPhone 4S 16GB White on the 10th, originally showed delivery for '24 Oct, 2011 - 31 Oct, 2011' but this has now changed to '18 Oct, 2011 - 25 Oct, 2011' so, it's come forward a week or so. Pleased to finally see some movement, it sat at 'Processing Items' for a week, well it's still sat at 'Processing Items', but at least the date has changed! Fingers crossed it's dispatched soon, my old iPhone 3GS is on it's last legs!

GiffGaff

I never really heard of GIFFGaff untill i joined the forum. is it truely worth it? Ive been with O2 for many years and havent had a problem with them, just wondering is it worth moving to GIFFGAFF once I get my iphone?
with simplicity I'd get something like 300 txts and 500mb of internet for £10 a month and I can add 1GB to it for an extra £10.
