I'm getting pretty frustrated...

I ordered on the 7th @ 11:40am GMT from the Apple store online and still not even had a shipping notification. All it says is estimated despatch 17th-24th.

Nothing today... :(

And to rub it in, two colleagues have got hold of handsets from carriers. It appears Apple have favoured the carriers and sold the majority of the 4S stock to them.

Even worse for me. Despite working until 6am, I awoke at 7.45am ready to place my order for the grand opening at 8.01. Of course Apple didn't open on time and although I managed to stay awake until 8.33am the store was still offline when I fell asleep. I awoke again at 10.45am and immediately placed my order for 2 x 64GB 4s (1 of each colour) and like you I am yet to have shipping notification.
So I feel particularly hard done by to be honest. If Apple had opened the store when they should - heck if they'd have even opened half an hour after they should, then I'd have been one of the first to place an order instead of one of the one's still waiting.
Bloody annoying!!!
 
...so today, 3 days later than the rest of the UK (I'm in Northern Ireland) I got my shiny new toy. One excited unboxing later, I was ready to go. Then....

....I got the "Invalid SIM" message and shortly afterwards, the "No SIM" one. A quick google later and I saw that there are many others in a similar position. There appears to be no consensus re why, but many have solved the problem y obtaining a new SIM. Indeed I have a 3 Ireland one that is working suggesting that the iPhone isn't the problem.

Now Orange tells me that it will be 3-4 days before they can send me a replacement SIM. I could get one instore but it wouldn't have the same number and I am not prepared to lose mine which I've had for 10 years.

If you ordered at 10:45am then its pretty apparent that Apple have under provided with allocating stock to the online store. They've simply sold far too many handsets to carrier's.

They must of had 40 handsets or something similar which all sold between 9-10:45.
 
iPhone not showing correct number after PAC transfer

Unlocked 4S, transferring number from O2 Simplicity to 3 PAYG.

The transfer goes through the next day, I receive calls fine, but Settings >> Phone is still showing the original number from the 3 SIM.

If I call someone, they're seeing the wrong number. It also seems to have messed up iMessage, which was working fine before the transfer went through.

I spoke with 3 and was told to give it a couple of days to see if it resolved itself, but I don't have much faith ;) In the meantime, is anyone familiar with this issue and how to fix it?

Are you porting your number from O2 to 3? It sounds as though they need to send a message to refresh the SIM. There is a field on the SIM which stores your number which seems to be wrong. On Orange, it's a SIM update, I'm assuming it's the same on 3. You could also go into a 3 store and show them, they're usually pretty helpful.

How did you unlock your 4S?

You can buy unlocked phones from Apple.
 
I'm so annoyed there is no stock anywhere!!!! I pre-ordered on Sunday 9th October and it still says 'Processing Items' anyone else? If what I've seen about some people who ordered on Friday 7th and still haven't got it then I don't think I have any chance of getting it by Friday this week...

I have been trying to refresh that 'reserve your iphone' page but everything still says unavailable.

I'm confused. Why would you be trying to reserve an iPhone at a store, if you've pre-ordered ???

Surely, you either try to get one at a store OR you pre-order and wait for it to arrive at your house ?
 
As stated earlier in the thread I have black 64GB on O2 spare. Wife's unwanted upgrade.

Purely out of interest, did O2 offer any concessions for your wife's 4S? My network refused to budge on my upgrade and I've essentially paid the same amount as a new customer :mad:
 
Yeah, it did read as though he had unlocked it himself :) I suppose you could buy one on PAYG and pay to have it unlocked, but you're as well just buying it SIM free to begin with.
The whole country is out of stock of SIM free ones though :(

Well since the iPhone is still on processing I was going to try and reserve one to pick up tomorrow - then I'd just cancel because they haven't even shipped it yet. I sold my 3GS on saturday so that's the main reason I'm feeling a bit desperate lol.

I don't get Apple's rubbish about getting 'regular shipments' they don't seem very regular to me!! It looks like they had one shipment and that's gone and so that's basically it. :(

Are any of the networks selling PAYG in store yet? Only one I could find was Vodafone and that was through their website, but they were out of stock for 1-2 weeks, so I just ordered mine from Apple.

Yup, porting from O2 to 3. Thanks for the info. Will try the 3 store again today.

Orange were selling them on their website on PAYG. Last I checked they still had the white 16GB 'in stock'. Not sure if they were selling them in store.
 
Has anyone called Apple about their iphone reservation system?

I did today. The lady said to check everyday at 9pm, as the reservation page is an indicator of when each store have re-stocked the iphone.
 
I just wanted to confirm that everything said about three customer service is correct. It is absolutely CRAP.

I got an email this morning concerning my order telling me there is a problem with my credit card and I need to call them on one of these 0844 numbers.
Of course I cannot call 0844 from my cell phone or skype so I go to "SAY NO TO 0870" and get some alternative numbers.

Eventually get through to a voice prompt which gives two options. 1. for mobile phones 2. for broadband. If you press one it asks you for your mobile number. Of course I don't have one because I am moving from o2 to Three. I try pressing zero to see if I can get a human but it just puts me back to the first prompt.

After calling a few other numbers I get an option to connect to sales to order a new phone and I try that.

The person at the end of the phone tells me there is nothing wrong with my order and it will be delivered tomorrow. He says the email was sent out in error.

What a start to a customer relationship, they have wasted about an hour of my time.
