How?

I've been sat looking into this for a couple of days.... Can you show me some figures please... or explain a little!

Here is what i came up with..
Vodafone
http://www.vodafone.co.uk/brands/iphone/pay-monthly-iphone/index.htm

12 months contract with vodafone
£41 per month.
500 mb
600 minutes
32gb phone £339
total cost £831
Actual monthly costs £69.25

Again sim only 12 months sim only with o2
£21.50 per month
500mb data
600 minutes
32gb phone £599
total £857
actual monthly cost £71.41

its cheaper to sign up with vodafone overall, yes its £41 per month, but overall its cheaper! you can still sell the phone on both contracts to get money back.... so I don't understand any other cheaper way... your getting the same minutes and everything!

In fact, if you paid £46 per month, you would get 900 minutes, and 750mb internet.. still for a total year cost of £831!

Well going on the cost above you want a 32GB for £599 get a giffgaff sim which is free, and for £10 a month you get unlimited ( yes, proper use as much as you want, no limit ) and unlimited texts, and 200 mins ( i feel like a giffgaff salesmen, i am reall not, just love it cos it's so cheap ! runs on the o2 network btw )

That works out at £710 over twelve months then sell the phone for approx £300 maybe more seeing its a 32GB and you have had an iPhone for 12 months and paid less approx £300

PS: just looked above, you're paying or looking at nearly £50 a month for a tariff? thats very hefty.

Bloody hell !

Was supposed to wake up at 8am to preorder, only just got up 3hours later !!!

Preordered the 16gb Black. Do you think i'm to late to get it by launch ?

Managed to get mine ordered!
I leave for work at 8 in the morning to start at 8:30!
Was set there refreshing until 8:25 with no joy so just left in rage and drove to work.

Was refreshing the site on my iPhone and then it loaded!
So I loaded up the Store App and after fighting with it trying to process, then giving me an error message it went through!

16gb White iPhone 4s! :D

Received a confirmation email at 9:20am and the money has been taken already.
Now to be patient.

I have Thursday and Friday off next week from work as was owed time, so I can wait in for the phone to hopefully arrive.
Fingers crossed we get it on the day! :D

Nope!

I really can't see why there is a panic! Has apple ever run out of iPhones?

Just ordered 32GB Black 4S!

I was going to choose white but it brings too much attention since it stands out.

Exactly the reason I got a black for. I don't wanna bring attention to myself and I think a white one would do this!

I ordered mine about an hour ago via the Apple Store app on my phone. (I was in a lecture and somehow the network decided it was nice those 5minutes - it was being a pain all morning - so got it then.) It went through straight away aswell.

Obviously trying to get through to the account history page online to see if it shows up. But just error pages just now.

I got (well think) a 16gb black.

...
Just checked my bank account and done some sums, and it all adds up :) So they've held my 499 for the phone :D

Got my 32gb white ordered at about 8:45.

I'm going with giff gaff. £15 a month plus the £599 makes it a total of £779

VF's nearest equivalent is a total of £831.

I think Tesco could undercut at approx £719 if the pricing structure is the same as was/is for the iP4

However, both those options do not include unlimited net and texts like GG, and you'll have a locked phone.

No brainer really.

To get them on launch day ? yes. I would be really dissapointed to get it after launch day, and by preordering at 10:30 i think I've pretty much made sure that's what will happen :(

200 minutes is not enough... earlier in the thread I looked into giffgaff, and its cheap, but my phone is a business phone, and i will loose money if its ever down, this in mind, its worth me paying that little bit more for voice customer service!

The deal i was looking at with giffgaff was £20 per month 800 minutes... thus nit really changing anything much! comparing to the other o2 sim... yeah its unlimited net, so that better too (i'm unlimited at moment) but never gone over 500mb per month! Come close a few times!
on the £20 per month thats still £839 (inc £599 phone)

Yeah I know thats £50 per month just for a tarrif.. but if yo divide the total cost of the phone and the giffgaff its £70 per month!

I got a white one for the wife and a black one for myself. Wanted white to be honest, but the wife and i always picked up the wrong phones when we both had black ones.

Im signing off now. Only got 9% battery left on my Macbook as i forgot to bring my power adapter to work. Have fun with ordering all. :D

I wasn't aware of this (apple running out)..... but its only a day or 2... your life won't end lol:)

The only thing that puts me off giffgaff (and any other network apart from O2) is the lack of Visual Voicemail. I know there's other Apps that provide similar functionality, but I just like the whole integrated 'official' thing about VV. I'm guessing that VV costs a lot for the network providers to implement and O2 only did it as a condition to get exclusivity on the original 3G. Stupid that I'm paying £10 a month more than I need to, but I just can't bring myself to lose VV.

As a matter of interest, what does giffgaff show up as on the top left of your iPhone screen - giffgaff or O2?

Has anyone managed to cancel their duplicate orders? Both mine are now processed and I have the cancel button available but it just gives me the Oops error
Yes, just be patient. I had three duplicates to cancel, and in the time I was on hold on the phone I was able to finally cancel two of them. When I got through, the third one became available to cancel and he did it for me over the phone. My order history now has just the one open order in it. For the hassle he threw in the Micro USB Adpater for free, major saving! Haha!

whats so great about vv? for £10 more a month you want to see something on your phone that you could listen to in seconds... *shakes head* just get the giff gaff and stop the riff raff coz you know it makes sense

Due to all the problems I had when trying to place my order, I ended up with two orders. Took a while before I could cancel one. When I could, I did.
I got my cancellation email for the cancelled order. Still no confirmation email, though, haha.

Then again they might be doing additional checking for me because I ordered from Switzerland to a UK address...

Hi all, I've just pre-ordered my 16gb black model... I'm going to have to be honest - seeing £499 disappearing like that definetly leaves its mark :D
What i found strange is that Apple billed me immediately... Didnt happen when i bought the ipad 2.

Anyone knows why?

You get £59 back in November too btw by pre-ordering with vodafone so it makes it a little cheaper than the figures you have put :) £64.33

I just had a reply from O2 on twitter:

we’re not running a pre-order for iPhone 4S – all our stock will be in our retail stores from 14 October

Ordered from Apple instead.
