If i remember back to Tuesday correctly, i swear a lot of people were talking trash about the IP4S.

And here we are on day one of preordering with over 1000 replies

Can't wait to try out Siri ! i just really want to know how long of a reply i can give in SMS's before it goes wrong.

Yeah, they're crap... so I ordered 2 at 8:40am... ;)

New Giffgaffers: Everyone who has PM'ed me 1pm has a Micro SIM in the post. Everyone after 1pm may have one in the post this evening, tomorrow or Monday. Either way, plenty of time before Friday!

If anyone else wants a GiffGaff Micro SIM, please feel free to PM me your address and I'll make sure that you get one sent out on Monday.

Is everyone excited to meet Siri for the first time? :)

I was going to move over to O2 but after seeing the mess they made of this I decided to renew with Vodafone this morning.

O2: You can't pre-order, you'll have to go into a store on the 14th and get one, but get there early or they'll sell out. Some stores open early, some don't, go and ask them if they're opening early. How much will it cost? We haven't announced that yet either.

Vodafone: I'll have an iPhone 4S please. Ok let's sort out your contract and then I'll credit your account with £59 and we'll deliver the phone to you.

No brainer for me, seems a bit like the O2 thing is for publicity with people having to queue outside the stores?

Only problem with VF is that I haven't got a confirmation email, but I did get a text this morning saying it would be delivered next week

I tried that question in a new thread. It fell on it's arse though.

Haha, from what I found, Banks have massive excesses and are quite expensive for their monthly bank accounts. I tried 'Protectmybubble' which was reasonable at £6.99 for full cover, but £50 excess (£75 for loss).

I can't seem to find any more though :(

Edit: I just found that Barclays run a 'Current Account Plus' account. £6.50 per month, covers all theft, damage and loss, accessories etc. Excess is £25 for first claim, £50 for second. You can also claim for gadget insurance as part of this account, so iPads, iPods etc. Seems reasonable.

Aren't GiffGaff changing their unlimited data plan? I heard it was causing too much strain on the o2 network.

Ah, sorry my mistake.

ETA: Think I'll be sticking with my sim free ip4 on a £20pm O2 contract. Will look at getting an ipad instead.

Same here mate, by time i sold my iphone 4 (around £400 for 32gb version) on flea bay prob £350 after costs, not worth the extras for the extra £250 i will need. Will put the £250 towards iphone 5 next year.

Iphone 4 is fast enough for me and apps dont crash through lack of memory (like on my ipad 1) Siri seems fun for a few goes, but can wait until next year once its incorporated more into other apps etc. It's so easy to fall into the upgrade trap and now wondering where my coin goes next!?

Was thinking of iPad 2, but happy with jailbroken ipad, so guess i will wait for iPad 3 on that front too.

I'm never 100% confident in what any support staff tell me, but I just had cause to phone Apple CS about my 4S pre-order, and in passing I asked him to confirm that it would be with me on the 14th, and he said No. It will be shipping on the 14th and be with you a few days later.

I told him that last year, the 4 was shipped to arrive on launch day, but he said, Not this year. It will be with you a few days after.

A case of ill imformed CS or do we have cause to worry?

I'd check that Barclays plan if i were you - IIRC their mobile phone insurance has a higher iPhone excess of either £50 or £75 but is lower for every other smart phone. I could be wrong though - let me know either way!

Maybe, but it will be a change for the way Apple have ever done product launches (and I don't just mean iPhone) - they always ship the majority of early orders to arrive on launch day.

That's not good. Surely the whole point of having a pre-order is that you receive the item on the launch day? Why else would Apple then take the money so far in advance of actually shipping the item to you?

I suspect that the CS rep is misinformed and that shipping will start on Tuesday/Wednesday for Friday delivery. Or - shipping on Friday for a Monday delivery.

Yeh, I may end up doing it through my bank, they do a package which comes with all sorts including gadget insurance and car break down cover...

That does worry me slightly.

Right! And a few lucky sods get theirs delivered early (or cheekily call the courier and go collect the evening before...).

I might do this :)

Still can't get in to cancel the two that went through even though the store wasn't working lol

You're lucky, I initially had about 7, paid with debit card :/. I cancelled a few then it went offline, leaving me with two left. I managed to cancel 1 again before it went away again.

I was told that they only ship on the 14th but, the UK has a holding pot already set up here in the UK. So, most should het theirs during the day - I hope:rolleyes:
