Hello everyone, just a quick question. I will be ordering my iPhone 4s from 3 today and i have a quick question. I am 16, i have a bank account as well as a debit card. I know that i have to be 18 to start a contract but here is my question. Can i just put the contract in my fathers name and then use my Bank details to pay for the contract. Will this be okay, of course i will have his consent.

Many thanks,

George

About 2 years ago when I had my T-Mobile sim only contract, I was 15 but when I set up the contract online, I just made it so I was 18. I really expected it to not work but it did. All my details were the same apart from my date of birth.

Crazy shittttt

That is exactly how it works, the app developer said it would cost him a lot more than the £2.99 he charges for the app to run a server that would track deliveries and then send push notifications, so he made a compromise and made the widget send the notifications.

In that case it's no good to me as my main use would be when I'm at work or out and about.

I've just done the same, but the opposite way round. Got an early order in on Friday for a black 16G, but have now decided I actually want a white one. Delivery time of 24th-31st October now. :(

Called Apple yesterday, and they said they couldn't just amend my existing order to change the colour. Was rather disappointed to be honest, although I do accept that it is my own fault for changing my mind.

Might still chance my luck at the Apple store next Friday and then just cancel the online order if I get lucky.

ahh I got the black iphone 4 last year so I thought I would get the white one but there is something about that black one ;) 24th?! quite late! Yeah I was going to try that but I'm at uni :(

Quidco!

Hey everyone, sorry about the amount of questions. I have just ordered the 32gb White iPhone 4s and i used quidco to get £109 off my 3 "The One Plan" Contract. If any of you have quidco would you please be able to help me. I used quidco and used their link to take me to the website and it have worked perfectly.

My question is i paid for the contract with a different card to that registered with my quidco. Will that be okay? I thought the money from cash back would just go into the account i have registered on quidco and that it doesn't have to be the same card as the one i used to pay for the contract. Is this correct?

As I have said many times leave O2 go to any other network.

Preferably three-as they have the best tariff going unlimited data and good coverage.

Do you work for 3 or have a vested interest in them? If so I think you should state this in your signature.

He either works for Three or gets commission from them for every person he gets signed up to them. Either that or he has some kind of problem with O2 as that's the only carrier he seems to bash and says is rubbish. To be honest I would suggest everyone ignores him as he just makes him self look ridiculous and is just sounding like a broken record.

Quidco are also giving £109 cash back on the one plan on THREE network

Thanks for mentioning previous post

Should be fine...Quidco just use the affiliate link so the card is of no relevance to them!

Ah-ha, thanks for clearing that up :)

I thought I was going slightly mad whenever I accessed my OSX Dashboard and received a notification on my phone a few seconds later!

Anyone ordered through Carphone Warehouse? Can someone who knows remind me. I took my original iPhone 3G contract with o2 but bought from CPW. How did i get the username/password for My o2 and all that? I really can't remember how it works. Trying to remember ahead of my new phone on Orange.

Also the email says.... they aim to ship on Fri 14th Oct. Hopefully that means its coming on 14th.

I've been trying to pre-order through vodafone but can't get past the personal details screen. I click the button but nothing happens.

After looking at the tariffs, it's down to 3 and Tesco for me.

If Tesco don't do some amazing 12 month deals, it looks like 3 offer the next best.

I'm torn.... With Tesco I would be able to upgrade again next year.... But with 3 I get unlimited data and tethering....hmmmm

Decisions decisions!

Let me give my experience with O2.
I had my iphone 3G stolen about 6 weeks ago and I reported it to the police and to O2.
O2 immediately put a block on it so that if anyone tried to use it, even with another sim card, it could be tracked by them and the police.
They also immediately sent me a sim card in the mail with my balance on it that I could put in whatever phone I bought to replace my stolen iphone and also cancelled my bolt-ons so that my account would not be debited for that until I got a new phone.
I was on pay as you go with them since I bought the iphone 3g in 2008. I never had any real problems with their service or coverage during that time, and I saw no difference in coverage between my phone and my wife's and daughter's phones which were other brands and on other networks.

Yesterday, I finally went shopping for a new phone and visited a few places like carphone warehouse and phones4u, and also looked online at Amazon.
I had read a lot of great things about the new Galaxy S2 and had decided to buy that phone instead.
At Amazon, they had it for £399 and it had a 30 day returns policy for any reason, but after that, I would be on my own as far as service/repair problems.
Both carphone warehouse and phones4u had the Galaxy S2 for a higher price, but I was willing to pay a bit extra if they also provided a better support service than Amazon after the initial returns period.
As it turns out, their returns policy is restricted to faulty phones and a like for like replacement only, so if I just didn't like the phone, I was stuck with it, and their service plan pretty much was send the phone off to Samsung for repairs. No replacement on the spot or a loaner phone in the meantime.

Then I went to the O2 store and they assured me that besides the normal 28 day returns for faulty phones, they also provided a 14 day return for any reason. They also provided a loaner phone during any repair time involved, and their price was £50 less than either of the other two shops.
I decided to go with them and walked out with a new GS2 after they stuck in my old sim card and reactivated my internet bolt-on.

Now for the part that will please the fanboys.
After playing with the Galaxy S2 all day, I discovered that the android system is very fragmented and updates are too difficult to obtain in a reliable way, and that the whole experience was too complicated.
The android people on forums favored approach is to root their phones and then spend a lot of effort to manage upgrades, etc. Rooting the phone voids the warranty and can result in bricked phones if you mess things up.
Just getting my stuff out of itunes was complicated enough and took a few tries to get it to work with some downloaded app.
So this morning, I returned to the O2 store and they immediately gave me a full refund, returned my sim card and removed my bolt-on without the slightest problem.

The Galaxy S2 is a fine phone, and I liked that you could add additional storage with a micro sd card, and its features are excellent, but the operating system is not as easy to deal with as ios.
So now I have ordered an iphone 4s from apple and when it comes, O2 will give me a new micro sim card and transfer my pay and go balance to it and reactivate my internet bolt-on at any of their stores, for free.

I can't emphasize enough how well O2 has treated me on this and over the years with their general service, so anyone looking to deal with a phone vendor should make sure that they offer a solid returns policy for any reason.
And I can count on apple to provide the sort of service support that treats customers fairly, including replacing faulty phones quickly during the warranty period.

And I have to admit that I never appreciated how well ios works until I tried to use android.
The 4s isn't really any better than the S2, but it's at least as good, so the trade off there is ok for me. But the ios operating system is what convinced me to stay with apple.

There is no doubt that 3 has improved significantly over the years. Their 3G speed is definitely one of the fastest in the UK. I used it when i was in a rural area where o2/orange only provide a normal GPRS/EDGE speed.

The reason why I am still with o2 is their customer service. They might not offer the best retention deal but in general their customer service has been good. I heard about stories that some call centers for Orange/3 are based in India etc. I am not sure how true it is but I remembered when i rang up Orange twice, it was someone with Indian accent. It might just be my luck or actually Indian worker in UK call center.

I would actually consider 3 if it is for the unlimited data, fast data speed and tethering option. If you want to avoid any potential trouble with their customer service, just go for the PAYG £15 all you eat option. You would still get 300mins, 3000 text, and unlimited data (with tethering). It is slightly more expensive than giffgaff but giffgaff doesn't allow tethering.

That's my 2cent:p

Preordered mine over the phone from Orange on Friday, does anyone know if there's anyway to track the progress of my order, or do I just have to wait and see?

It doesn't matter how you pay for online purchases made through Quidco. You only need to register cards for purchases you make in "real" shops.

Cant really help with any 3rd party insurers, but i have a Barclays Premier Life account, and all the features we get make it very much worth the £17.50 charge a month.

Thats expensive! Halifax charge me £12 per month, and if you pay in over £1000 per month, they give you £5 back! So £7 for a month is a bargain, includes phone insurance, breakdown cover and the usual stuff!

Quidco!

Just an update my order has now been tracked on Quidco but i was greeted with a slight surprise. It has tracked £149.98. It should be £109? Either way it has worked perfectly, now the wait for it to be confirmed :I If it is confirmed, which it should be as it has been recognised by Quidco and 3 i will only have payed £40 for a 32gb White iPhone 4s. Even if it only accepts £109 it is still a great deal. And for those wondering its not a sim free price, its on "The One Plan" 24 month contract.

I have one question...has anyone preordered an iPhone 4s with a CREDIT (not debit) card and got charged the whole amount? I have received an confirmation mail from apple and also they charged me with 1 pound but that's it...

Surprised O2 aren't offering online ordering for existing customers to upgrade to the 4S. If they think I'm going to hang around on a wet and windy street corner they have another thing coming. Tried telephoning them yesterday and after 20 mins queue gave up.

Glad I ordered a black and white 4S on Friday now direct with Apple. Ordered the black in the morning. Due for delivery on 14th. Ordered white in afternoon. Due for despatch 1-2 weeks. 14th just happens to be my birthday though!

Cashinmyfone offering £280 for iPhone 4 16GB and an extra tenner for the 32GB if anyone interested. Makes the £499 cost more bearable. Plus I'm on £9 a month SIM only with T-Mobile - 300 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited data. Large saving over 18 month contract. The gf is contracted to O2 until December but will then switch her to SIM only too.
