Envirofone are very good, used them once before, excellent :D. Also sent it via special delivery... Just in case.

This is the first I've heard of Envirofone; it looks very tempting considering how much hassle eBay can be.

They do an extra 10% payment *IF* you choose an Argos card too, which could be fun what with Christmas coming up :p

Very easy, just call them up or use an available unlock form.

Did you hear back from Apple as to why they cancelled your order?

They haven't provided a reason, but I'll be pursuing on Monday again. In the mean time, I placed another order. :/

I took the Argos credit for my 3Gs and still have over £100 of it lol
Taking the money and running this time around :)

IIRC it took a few days after the main providers for Tesco to start offering the iPhone4, and their initial stock allocation was dire. If you're willing to wait, then Tesco are likely to come up with something good, if you want something on the 14th then I wouldn't hold your breath. That said, things might be different this time round. I was going to say that demand/supply for the 4S might be better than it was for the 4, but judging by the shipping dates now showing I'm not so sure...

Actually this is not true I got my iphone 4 on lauch day 8am in tesco mobile store in a tesco extra they had like 30 in stock and there was 10 of us in the que

It depends on which store you visited.

As soon as I was turned down by Orange, I went to a local Tesco. There was a queue 20 men (no women) long, waiting for just 8 iPhone 4's. I gave up and started calling other Tesco stores. There was another one quite a way away and they said, "Yeah - we have a few of each type and no queues. I'll put a couple behind the counter for you".

By 10:30, I had two 16gb iPhone 4s.

So it all depends where you go.

All the best,

Mike

LOL :p

But you're still using Envirophone - that's a good recommendation, I'll give them a look in...

Oh dear - did they take payment or has the allocation fallen off yet?

I presume that it's a security/banking issue. One issue from your bank and Apple will cancel the order. You place another and it will probably flag your account and/or block your card... at least, this is what happened to me for the iPad 2 earlier this year.

Nope, Apple actually have the money, as per their debit policy.

The bank noted absolutely no issue - I even gave them a friendly heads up the day before. :)

However, if it was payment, shouldn't it have arisen in the morning more than 8 hours after the order was placed?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Apple have a distribution centre in Cork ireland.

They ship most of the stuff for the UK from there, ordered a BTO iMac at launch and it shipped from there

That's true for normal orders. Preorders for new product launches generally get shipped directly from their factory in China.

Do Apple still use UPS for UK iPhone deliveries?

They use either UPS or TNT for their orders. When I preordered the iPad 2 and accessories the accessories were delivered by TNT and the iPad 2 by UPS.

That's shocking.

I hope that you get an explanation and a straightforward resolution.

Once the initial rush has passed then availability is generally good. You could probably walk into an Apple store in November and pick up what ever you want.

As for shipment, my at-launch MBP delivery in March this year came from China with UPS and it could be tracked from the factory to Tamworth where I picked it up.

Yeah I hope so, If I order at say 28 november hopefully i get it by 20th at the latest.

by then there should be a fair amount of 4s cases available in store by then too...as people seem to think the volume button has moved same with the home button so may need to buy a new case.

I'm guessing the sim is the same? will just put my micro sim from my 4 into the 4s?

So I went into an o2 store near me at the weekend and i'll almost punched the arrogant **** in the face.

Me: "Hi, I know you're not pre-ordering on the iPhone but can you tell me if i was to call up on the day and pay for it over the phone and pick it up on my lunch break?"

o2: "No you can't do that you just have to turn up"

Me: "Ok, are you opening up early on the day as i have work at 9?"

o2: "nah, and we don't even know how many we will get on so you'll just have to try your luck."

Why are o2 being such dicks about this release??

You almost punched someone because their employer hasn't provided them with enough information to do their jobs effectively

haha. No, I almost punched him because of the way he was.

I walked away and said to my wife "What a knob" and she said "Yeah, I was listening".

I think o2 still think they have exclusivity to the iPhone.

Whats more annoying is that i have to get it through them because of the coverage in my Village.
