I’m planning to go to the Apple Store on Regent St on Friday. Can anyone who’s been to a launch before give some colour as to what time to queue, and what happens on the day? I’ve just managed to book the morning off work so I don’t mind not being first in the queue and waiting a while as long as I get a result out of it.

I wouldn’t normally bother but I’m flying to Tokyo for 3 weeks on Saturday and would quite like to have the phone for my trip.

If any of you are thinking about moving to Orange and are based in North West London, think about it. Mast down, no time given for fixing, have had no 3G for over a week and no plans to repair after being a customer for over 15 years. Rock on Orange

O2 have down the same near me. Mast was on top of a local swimming pool, pool was knocked down and it has been a year and a half with 1 bar of 3G on my iPhone, was 5 bar. Those near to the pool have no 2G reception, and this is in the middle of the West Midlands.

got a sweet deal with vodaphone:
iphone 4s 16GB + 12-month contract

one-off cost £139 (after £59 rebate)
monthly cost: £32 (£46 - 30% discount)

get my iPhone fri..

whoooopiiii!

:D:D:D

Nice!! How do you get the 30% discount? Is that a loyalty reward?

When I went to pick up my reservation last year, I went there around 11.30am and was surprised that there was still a MASSIVE queue. The way they did it was one queue was for walk ins and there was one for reservations.

Will be different this year, as no reserve and collect. I would say there will be a queue of about 200 for hours then, once you get in to the store, guess what, you queue again :D, either for the till to pay for sim free or for a rep to complete your contract/upgrade. In total I was there for around 3 hours and like I said that was to pick up reservation and pay for sim free.

How have you 'ordered for collection' if you don't mind me asking ??

It's an option during application to have it delivered to your home address or a local store for pick up. :D

Just saw this post, not sure if they wouldn't ship for 14th, I would guess that they may be advised not to increase expectations. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1244994/

I was also there last year to pick up my iphone4 and was in line at 10.30 AM WiTH reservation sim free and only had mine at 5 PM so i was approx. 6.5 hours in line....wayyyy to long...lines almost didnt moved 10 feet per hour!
I'm gonna try covent garden this year and will be lining up at 4AM or so because i dont want history to repeat itself again!

Was you a Regent Street? I'm gonna be going around 4am too. What a hold Apple have over us, getting us to queue up from the early hours for a 'MOBILE PHONE' :D:D:D

That's insane!

I'm thinking of getting there at 7am. My desire to get one is balanced by my love of sleeping :D

They should have 2 queues, one for people who want sim-free and one for contracts - sim-free would fly by. Although I guess that would be a bit unfair on the contract people who queued early.

Sorry only just seen the question.

As others have mentioned, when ordering online you can opt for "pick up at local store" then choose your store.

No you can't!

They did it last year but this time there is no reserve for instore pickup option!

Guys, i really doubt we'll get this on Friday. "Shipped By Friday 14th" means it will be on it's way on or before Friday 14th.

We'll probably see the new phones early next week ( Monday 17th)

Anyone pre-order the iphone 4 and get it delivered on release day?

Its likely to have been asked before but after a super quick skim, can anyone tell me who Apple (generally) use for deliveries?

I was planning on staying in for it, but it no turns out I have to go out for a few hours and noone will be in. So was planning to see what they do with re-deliveries and a rough guesswork from my past experience of when they could roughly show up.

Anything I have had delivered from Apple has come from UPS

I am switching to orange from O2 and put down a £20 deposit in store.

They said they'd give me a call when it came in so I'm assuming it could be any time even like weeks away :(:(

Yes, and thats what the above means. :D

Well I just tried a different o2 (which i will try and order from) and he was a lot more helpful.

Guys said he had a lot of people in today asking about it and what he was advised was the following....

The o2 Website will get updated Wed with Stock levels for each store and will also advise if any stores are opening early. Few other bits of info but that was generally targeted at the store itself.

so F5 bashing wednesday. :p

Usually UPS, my iPhone 4 arrived from them last year - and the guy said he had nothing but iPhone 4's on his van ( not sure how he knew? )

:apple::confused:

The driver knows who sent the packages - and he'll be able to see he has hundreds of items from Apple in his van that are all exactly the same. And he probably knew it was the iPhone 4 launch day. Or maybe an excited recipient told him what it was.
