12 month contracts with O2

Somewhat embarrassed to admit that I created a spreadsheet of iPhone pricing on O2 to decide which tariff suited me best given I fully intend to get a new iPhone next year but can't afford to stump up for an off contract iPhone right now. This little curiosity came up with the 12 month contracts. I may have mis-read something so feel free to check but it looks like you're always best going for the 1200 minute package. My numbers are based on the £10 data package.

Minutes Upfront 12 months Total Monthly cost
300 £349.99 £492 £841.99 £70.17
600 £299.99 £552 £851.99 £71.00
900 £239.99 £612 £851.99 £71.00
1200 £139.99 £672 £811.99 £67.67

Given that the upfront cost is lowest at 1200 minutes, you can always go with that one and set aside any saving to cover your monthly difference, plus I think you can downgrade tarif after a few months too.

Please feel free to re-check my figures.

Depends which model - these are the latest times you will need to start queuing in Newcastle:

BLACK WHITE

16GB 4:17am 3:58am

32GB 3:46am 3:07am

64GB 4:35am 4:06am

If anyone wants to know what time they will need to start queuing at any different Apple store, I have all the times here so let me know.

No way you can know when people should queue for a certain model!?

But it doesn't seem to stop people asking... ;)

just went on gumtree and saw this http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/a...te-factory-unlocked-bnib-2-available/89338886

obviously a scam or hit and run robber... what an idiot..

Just because he/she is advertising them doesn't mean they've actually got them yet. I'd reckon it's somebody who's ordered a couple expecting them to be delivered Friday so he can ship them straight away, and is just trying to get a head start on all the other scalpers who'll be hitting the Internet then.

thanks a lot for the help, think I'll probably go for about 3 then just to make sure i get me 16GB white model :D

Just saying that there's a weird rumour doing the rounds that at least some Apple Stores won't have sim-free phones on Friday. I heard this rumour at a different forum and dismissed it as lunacy, but it's been posted here in the meet-up folder. Definitely worth investigating further over the next day or two, I think.

I'll be home in bed, wondering why people are going to que for a phone at that time in the morning....

Queuing at stupid o'clock for the latest Apple release is one of those shared experiences that should be on everybody's '100 things to do before you die' list. Once is probably enough, but it's an one-off experience you don't forget.

He's joking you know.

didn't even click on to that, only just noticed the wink at the top of his post. only my 4th post here and already starting to get a feel for how up themselves particular members are, no need in giving a sarcastic answer to a sensible question

LOL :)

I've fixed it for you - gotta be in this order, surely, based on popularity :)

Surely the guy saying there wont be sim free iPhones is talking through his ass right?

I hope so! It's just odd that it's come from two completely different people on completely different forums. I'm still confident it will be fine, but I'm definitely going to ring a couple of times over the next two or three days.

Hi guys, new member here...

I would find it incredible if Apple offered SIM-free versions only online and not instore. In fact, it's probably more beneficial to them to sell as many SIM-free versions as they can. I think whoever started this rumour is just scare-mongering.
