My credit card was authorised for the iPhone however I've just checked and the authorisation has dissapeared and nothing has been charged to my account!

I'm sorry but when I pre-ordered, it said 'Preorder 7th October for delivery 14th October'. That's why I expect it next friday and I'll be disappointed if I don't get it. I'm going away and would have made other arrangements if the webpage hadn't specifically said '..for delivery 14th'

I'm not whining (in fact this is my first post on the subject) but I will be disappointed and will feel misled by Apple.

Well said. The whole purpose (and indeed the understanding) when placing an early pre-order is to secure delivery on launch day. Otherwise it's fairly pointless.

I fully expect the vast majority of early pre-orders to be delivered on Friday. If this were not to happen it would result in a very large number of customers feeling let down, and would leave Apple open to justified criticism.

The Apple website said, and always said, "For Dispatch by 14th"

This does not mean delivered by the 14th.

It was mentioned lots in the thread as soon as the site went live.

If they really are taking peoples money now then that is pretty well a guarantee that we will have them by Friday (courier issues aside).

There is no way that Apple would be taking money on Wednesday if there were not going to ship until Friday.

however before preorders went live the site stated pre order from 7th ... deliveries beginning 14th

implying that the first wave would get the phones ON the 14th - thats why i preordered as soon as the site was up about about 8.40am

Pre-orders

I have been reading the posts in this thread and it's crazy that people think if Apple do not get their iPhones to them by Friday it will end up being bad PR for them. In all fairness the reason I for one pre-ordered is so that i know i am definitley getting an iPhone 4s. So that i do not have to queue up at a ridiculous time in the morning and stand outside the store for a few hours.

The people that do that probably feel that is apart of the experience and probably enjoy it, i am not knocking anyone about it. For those that had plans on the weekend should have just picked it up in person. I for one am just happy that I have ordered mine and that it will be with me either friday or early next week!:D

Apple really don't have to prove anything to us, they have been providing quality products for sooo long now.

"Before preorders went live..."

So when you actually preordered it didn't say that?

Anyway, i'm sure you'll all get them on Friday, Apple are usually pretty good at organising this stuff.

It's a same people who ordered online from the apple store probably won't get them on the 14th :/

All it takes for bad PR is for people to kick up enough of a fuss online, as they did for Antennagate. Whether it is deserved or not is irrelevant, the coming of social media and internet forums enables a group of voices to shout loudly in unison instead of being a lone voice in the wilderness.

Not saying I agree, just that the internet makes it possible for a person's opinion to be heard by many, rather than a few.

Im hoping so! I mean on the days running up to the preorder thats what the site said, i honestly cant remember what it said on the morning of preorder as i was trying to order it as soon as i could haha

fingers crossed for friday, i'm just gonna be a bit disapointed if it doesnt come

Can someone quote this guy when they have their apple.co.uk deliveries on Friday.

Im fully confident my phone will be delivered on Friday. If the networks have stock to deliver for Friday, then so does apple.Simple as.

oh, and while we are clutching at straws, the option to add a gift message which appeared on my order, has now gone.

yeah fair enough but it is Apple? when have they ever disappointed consumers. All i am saying that is isn't exactly end of the world if the iPhones do not arrive Friday. If everyone was sooooooooooo eager to have one then queuing is an option lol..but hey I am hoping a Friday delivery too but won't be at all upset if it doesn't show up.

Right, but Antennagate is a completely different scenario. If your preorder doesn't arrive on Friday, it will arrive on Monday. What would you expect them to do about it? More to the point, how will a weekend without your new toy really affect your long term opinion/experience with it?

No it's not. I don't know where you got that idea but you can keep believing it if you want but you're wrong. Preorders are to guarantee delivery period not guarantee delivery on launch day. If you undertand it in that the item should be delivered on launch day then you obviously misunderstand.

If people feel let down becuase they haven't recieved their phones on launch day then that's there problem. If Apple get criticised then they don't deserve it. Certainly that criticism isn't going to have any affect on their reputation or the way they handle their preorders.

Apple never promised to deliver on launch day and people are just choosing to believe the way they think it should be.

Nope. Preorder doesnt guarantee delivery on launch day.

Of course delivery is not guaranteed for launch date, but that is the understanding and reasonable expectation of all of those with years of experience of Apple, and Apple know it.

The likelihood is that the vast majority of early pre-orders will be delivered on Friday.

If, for some reason that doesn't happen, it is not the end of the world, but Apple will not look good particularly when carriers such as Orange, Vodafone and Three manage to fulfil customer expectations.

Apple will not let down their most loyal customers without very good reason, believe me.

Only reason I say is because I was asking the apple staff in the live chat and they said it won't come on the 14th.

Apple will not look good particularly when carriers are shipping THEIR product? hmmm. So Apple have given consumers a number of different options to get hold of their new product and that in itself will make THEM look bad? is it just me or did that just not make sense?!

Exactly. People are getting uptight over nothing. It's hardly a life changing experience if they don't get their phones on Friday. People need to just chill out and relax.

Does anyones order actually say anything other than "Processing Items"?

Like others, I was/am really hoping for delivery on 14th, and just to throw some oil on the fire, that's pretty much what I expected when I pre-ordered at 8am last Friday...
