Of course delivery is not guaranteed for launch date, but that is the understanding and reasonable expectation of all of those with years of experience of Apple, and Apple know it.

The likelihood is that the vast majority of early pre-orders will be delivered on Friday.

If, for some reason that doesn't happen, it is not the end of the world, but Apple will not look good particularly when carriers such as Orange, Vodafone and Three manage to fulfil customer expectations.

Apple will not let down their most loyal customers without very good reason, believe me.

Apple will not look good particularly when carriers are shipping THEIR product? hmmm. So Apple have given consumers a number of different options to get hold of their new product and that in itself will make THEM look bad? is it just me or did that just not make sense?!

So what if the carriers ship/deliver before Apple. It's not the big deal that some people make it out to be. It's cetainly not going to make Apple look bad or affect their reputation. Honestly I can't believe how pathetic it is that people are moaning and whining about this subject. People are assuming what they want to believe is right and not what is right in reality.

VODAFONE UPDATE: Vodafone customers have started to get text messages saying there phone will be delivered on friday to there destination, so either home or selected store, so where are apples iPhones then ?

Sorry, I thought the point was obvious. Not only that but you are misinterpreting what I said or, with respect, being deliberately obtuse.

If authorised outlets / carriers are able to get the iPhone 4S to customers on launch day but Apple themselves can't, then it doesn't reflect well on Apple's pre-order system. Simple.

Three Network Update: They seem to have started to charge cards (mines been charged). And on the pre-order page they are now saying the earliest delivery is 18th October (for orders made now). Should suggest if you got the orders in before today you are probably good to go for a friday delivery.

Seems like Apple actually made a lot of these things this year!!

nope to friday

i just called apple and the rep assured me, they will DEFINITELY not be delivered on friday, he said there's a good chance of monday. I even asked if i should book the morning off work on friday if there was a chance and he said it would be a waste of time as they WILL deliver early next week. its a bit silly really:mad:

some people are getting whiney but most people aren't.

I pointed out that when I bought mine it said order '.. for delivery beginning 14th'. which is did. that you didn't see it doesn't mean it wasn't there. Plus, I ordered through the store app, not the website - I don't know if that showed something different.

It's not the end of the world for me if I get it next week, my point was that when I ordered, it specifically said delivery would be on the 14th.

That is really flipping annoying.:mad::mad:

People will be rightfully upset because IMO:

1) US orders will be delivered on launch day.
2) UK Carriers will deliver on launch day.
3) Internationally people received them 4 days early.
4) iPhone4 was delivered on launch day, whats changed?
5) People have taken time off work to collect.
6) Defies the point of pre-ordering for some of us that follow the patterns. I would queue up if i was 100% it wouldn't be received on Friday and we can't get an authoritative answer from Apple on this topic.

Why is there so much panic about iPhones NOT being delivered on Friday? Why wouldn't they be? It's not like this is the first product Apple have released, is it?

Some will arrive tomorrow, some Friday, some Saturday, and an unlucky few will get some next week as there will have been problems. I pretty much know this to be fact as it happens with everything that has ever been released in this nature.

Chill guys, and look forward to Friday :)

For Apple to not deliver ANY pre-orders on launch day is implausible. The rep is wrong.

yeah i thought that, but i ordered within 5 minutes of the site going up, and he said the first batch of pre orders would ship on friday for a monday or tuesday delivery.. oh he also said they are shipping from hubs in the UK not china, which i guess is quite obvious at this point

Does it matter if they get delivered this Friday or next week? Just have some patience. We don't need it Friday, it will just be a nice bonus if they do arrive then.

Right, but Antennagate is a completely different scenario. If your preorder doesn't arrive on Friday, it will arrive on Monday. What would you expect them to do about it? More to the point, how will a weekend without your new toy really affect your long term opinion/experience with it?

It only has to be enough of a fuss to get the media to report on it. Which lets face it, 9 times out of 10 that's a storm in a tea cup. They've already reported on the massive number of pre-orders, I'm sure they'd lap up Apple disappointing all those die hard fans who got up early to order last Friday compared to those who ordered from the networks much later and received their phones on Friday.

Frankly, I get fed up with lazy journalists that can't be bothered to find a real story.

I think that's a given, since the networks have an allocation already. For the networks to ship tomorrow, the phones must be in the UK.

I suspect there's a big warehouse in the UK/Ireland that has several big piles of phones. One marked Apple Online store, one marked Apple retail and several smaller ones marked network operators.

If they are in the UK already, then there won't be any notifications until just before the phone is due to ship, as they'll go out next day delivery.

They will have been in the country for days already. The carriers will have had them for a day or two at least, as they are already in store. There is no way that Apple would have allowed handsets to be sold via third parties before them.

Also, What are Apple going to sell in store on Friday, if they're not already here? That would be cutting it WAY too fine.

I'll go on record for saying they will be at our doorsteps on Friday. If I'm wrong, then please all slate me for it.

Is anyone else hoping to buy one in store next week? I am, hopefully they'll be getting them in Apple stores regularly like they did with iPad 2.

I ordered online when they first went live, and not long after I saw my credit card was minus £500, not actually taken the money but as an account balance. But now it is showing my account balance including my £500..should I be worried?

I check on Apples order system and my order still says processing > dispatched by 14th.
