Has anyone who is on O2, ordered/upgraded via Carphonewarehouse had their contract/tarriff changed on their myO2 on o2.co.uk yet?

The upfront handset cost though CPW is showing on my credit card transactions (good) and the CPW phone operative said my O2 contract had been upgraded from Simplicity to 24 month £36pm - just that O2's site is still showing I'm eligible for upgrade.

I initially decided to stay with my Three PAYG so I phoned up Three and asked them to send me a nano sim and transfer my details to it. Three however have the single worst customer service reps in the entire universe. Two different reps assured me I was getting a nano sim. What arrived yesterday? Yes. A micro sim.

I've decided to switch to a rolling monthly contract anyway and ordered it from the web site. The confirmation email says it's a nano sim but we'll see. I've been reading horror stories about people trying to get their new sims activated so anything is possible. Three have a great data network but god help you if you actually need to talk to them.

64gig black iPhone 5 for me. Preparing for shipping.

I couldn't disagree more tbh. I found 3's customer services to be tip top. Knowledgable/polite and enthusiastic.

I did my O2 upgrade through CPW in store today - they told me that it wouldn't take effect until the next normal bill date.

Good to know! One of those things I should have had the presence of mind to ask whilst I was on the phone but didn't.

Three via Quidco FTW

I don't know if this has been posted already but Quidco are offering £97 cash back for pre-ordering iPhone 5 on 3 network, think it's only today and tomorrow. Just ordered mine!

Here's the deal - still going strong!!

:D :D :D

I expect they will do lots of VERY similar deals, but you cant guarantee it.

I've just bought it! (In black, obviously!)

For anyone interested, i just phoned 3 and the guy said he has got to send me out another nano sim as the one i have isn't registered on their system, all sims sent out are registered on their system and this one isn't and wont work. So now he's sending me out another one and said all i should have to do is put it in my phone with the adapter and it should activate itself. I offered to go to a 3 store and he said they would probably charge me for another sim and wouldnt have access to all the details about my contract that he has. So yeah, now i've got to wait for another sim to arrive.

for whatever this is worth, apple live chat;

Now chatting with Jennifer H.

Hello

Hello and how can I help you today?

Was just wondering what shipping method will be used for the iPhon 5 launch day delverys?

*deliverys

It will be UPS or royal mail. When you iPhone ships you will get an email and you can track it.

Upon delivery a signature will be required and if you miss they will leave a post card for you to reschedule.

So definitely not Fedex or UKmail? Have had bad experiences with them in the past

We have not. They are great about delivery and leaving post cards and requiring the signature too.

Also, the packing Apple ships is very discreet too.

Be sure to order with an Apple ID so you can log onto your account and track it.

Ahh, can you just confirm all the couriers that will be used on Friday with me?

Sure, I will get this information for you just one moment please.

Thank you

You're very welcome. My pleasure. I am getting that for you now.

Yes, it will be UPS and Royal Mail those are the 2 main carriers.

Okay, thanks you've been great help :)!

You're very welcome. Cheers! Hope you have a very nice Sunday! Take care and Bye.

Thank you for visiting the Apple Store. We appreciate your business. If you would like more help, please chat with us again.

im still unable to track on UPS though..

Just got mine on a 12 month lease with o2 on business. Free phone and 45 quid a month.. Very pleased tbh because it works out the same as if you got a 12 month contract and sold the phone at the end, with this way basically saving you the bother of selling the phone yourself as you give it back. Only thing I'm nervous about is damaging the phone, but I managed to keep my 4S in very good condition so I'm not too bothered. Was told that the phone would be dispatched on release day as their pre-order stock had run out.

To be honest - one of my friends got the O2 Lease deal last year and I think it's an awful 'deal'.

In your case, £40 p/m - is that excluding VAT? If so & if you don't own a business, that's £48 per month.

Contract: £48*12= £576.

Whereas with buying the phone unlocked & using Simplicity..

300 minutes, unlimited texts, 500MB data + 500 O2 to O2 minutes = £16.50 p/m for 12 months.
16.50*12= £198 so roughly £200.
Buy the phone for £529 = £729.

Sell the phone after 12 months for around £340/£350.
£729-350=£379.

I'm aware that you may need the extra data and such that is available on O2 lease but it isn't that much more expensive to add with simplicity.

A guy at orange told me yesterday that the day before delivery ill get a text telling me the 2 hour window for delivery. Not sure how factual that is!!

Hmmm, they told me it would be a 4 hour window. Nothing like a consistent story from an operator's staff

In this day and age of GPS tracking, I can't see why they can't give you a much more accurate delivery time, or at least let you track the vehicle your order is on.

You won't be able to track it until Wednesday night, they will all be coming from Apples Ireland warehouse, just like the 4S and ipad3 launches.

Their press event on Tuesday 11th.

Then their statement on Wednesday 12 said

And Orange said

And T-Mobile said

Essentially what EE’s saying is that you should sign up with Orange or T-Mobile right now. You’ll then be able to break your Orange/T-Mobile 3G-only contract early and swap to a new 4G contract, essentially upgrading to a new EE plan. If your price per month on the new EE 4G plans is the same or more than your old 3G-only plan, then the early upgrade will cost you nothing (but you'll obviously be paying the cost of the new EE plan instead). If not, well, there’ll be some sort of upgrade fee. You’ll also have to sign for two years again. Rumour is the new EE 4G plans won't include any SIM only ones, and they'll all be +£10 compared with the equivalent Orange/T-Mobile contract.

I'm perfectly happy to put up with EE's patchy 4G coverage to start with (I work in London so that's me covered) and it'll just roll back to HSPA everywhere else. I'm just hoping that EE open up to customers sooner rather than later!

Yep!

Thanks for the info. :)

still unable to believe they're actually using royal mail.. loll they're clumsy as anything with my mail

Think yourself lucky. I renewed my contract with O2 a few months back, told them I had an iPhone 4S, guess which SIM turned up in the post?

Three must be raking it in. Very organised in this launch and offering tempting deals all round .

I'm actually glad i live in the UK where we have multiple carrier options. Imagine O2 and Vodafone were the only real choice (a la Verizon and AT&T) for an iPhone 5...
