Anyone know if T-Mobile will unlock the iPhone 5 either straight away or after a few months?

Also, I need to cancel my iPhone 5 order from Apple as I'm going with a contract instead now. It won't let me cancel as it's about to be shipped. Do I need to wait until its delivered on Friday and arrange for them to send a courier to collect it again?

Anyone's changed to shipped yet? there have been some reports that orders have.

Don't think anyone from the Uk has yet !

Thanks for your reply. I am just worried about that, but fingers crossed I havent had any problems with the ipad 3 and iphone 4s orders before. So i hope the iphone 5 will be in perfect condition.

Worth bearing in mind if you do have to exchange it for any reason, is that they won't give you a whole new retail box etc regardless of the fact it is new. I changed my 4S about 2 days after launch as there was a small graze on the metal band. The OCD in me now doesn't like that the serial on the box doesn't match my phone anymore. I was assured that the replacement was brand new though, but just packaged accordingly in a black box for warranty swaps.

I work for Parcelforce (Charlton depot) the phones are security packaged and will get delivered first thing in the morning from 7:30-9am (that's if you've paid for before 9am delivery) because it's a security package, if no one is in, we'll post a "739 card" in your letter box to let you know that we've tried to deliver the parcel and will try again the following day. If its 9am delivery, with Parcelforce, then I'd advise you to be up by 7am because we have other drivers that start at 7am. Hope this helps!

Quoted for reference.

When did you make your pre-order?

I'm also getting my phone sent to the local shop. When I was doing so, they tried to encourage me to get it delivered to my home address instead because delivery to store "is not guaranteed to be available to collect on release day". I think most likely it'll be fine though.

Off-topic to lukefinch: Awesome to see someone else from South Yorkshire on this forum btw :)

And from Rotherham too! Don't suppose your picking up your iPhone from the Bawtry road shop? That would be too weird :D

I pre-ordered my iPhone at 11:30pm on Wednesday night. I was one of the first to pre-order it.

The reason mine is being sent to the local shop is because there system kept crashing as they were inputting my address details due to a huge amount of people using it at once.

I'm in pretty much the same situation. I've been on the same O2 plan I got with the original iPhone five years ago when they were the exclusive provider. I pay £35 per month for 500 minutes, 600 texts, unlimited data and visual voice mail.

My contract ran out a couple of years back but due to the unlimited data and visual voice mail I stuck with it as I couldn't find anything comparable but cheaper plus I was kind of lazy to change it.

I also had free Wi-Fi at BT Open Zone and The Cloud hot spots as part of my O2 mobile plan. Now I have BT fibre optic broadband at home I get free Wi-Fi at BT Open Zone hot spots as part of that anyway so it mostly nullifies that.

O2 3G coverage at home and at work is OK but not the greatest. I think with the iPhone 5 it's not time to change. I'm going to contact O2 and get my PAC code and probably switch to T-Mobile SIM only. They have unlimited data plans with much better minute and text allowances for less then what I pay now. Hopefully T-Mobile and Orange combined will also give me better signal coverage.

If I can eventually switch to EE's LTE 4G network all the better. If not I will still pay less for more anyway on the normal 3G service plan.

O2 usually give a £5 loyalty discount if you threaten to leave. I've got the new 'on and on' tariff. Unlimited calls unlimited texts 1GB data for £15 pm.

Don't UK orders sometimes remain as preparing for shipment until they arrive in the Netherlands?

our phones have been on preparing for shipment since Friday afternoon, from what I read here it seems that they were all made on week 35 or before.
The Americans reporting shipped from china are mostly week 36 and 37.
it may be that the UK phones are already in the UK and we won't see movement till Wednesday

Yes, they could well be in Ireland.

Sound right to me, mine was made week 33. hope we see tracking soon. :D

I have 4 lines with O2 on 3 accounts, because O2 are retarded and would only let me have 2 iPhones per account. If I get my PAC codes then decide to stay and do nothing, am I right in saying that things will just carry on as they are? The numbers won't disappear until another carrier requests them witht he codes?
