I'm in pretty much the same situation. I've been on the same O2 plan I got with the original iPhone five years ago when they were the exclusive provider. I pay £35 per month for 500 minutes, 600 texts, unlimited data and visual voice mail.

My contract ran out a couple of years back but due to the unlimited data and visual voice mail I stuck with it as I couldn't find anything comparable but cheaper plus I was kind of lazy to change it.

I also had free Wi-Fi at BT Open Zone and The Cloud hot spots as part of my O2 mobile plan. Now I have BT fibre optic broadband at home I get free Wi-Fi at BT Open Zone hot spots as part of that anyway so it mostly nullifies that.

O2 3G coverage at home and at work is OK but not the greatest. I think with the iPhone 5 it's not time to change. I'm going to contact O2 and get my PAC code and probably switch to T-Mobile SIM only. They have unlimited data plans with much better minute and text allowances for less then what I pay now. Hopefully T-Mobile and Orange combined will also give me better signal coverage.

If I can eventually switch to EE's LTE 4G network all the better. If not I will still pay less for more anyway on the normal 3G service plan.

Yep, same! I've been on the same £35 a month since June 2008 with the orignal iPhone! Mine ran out I think last September, but I always buy the iPhone from Apple - makes no sense really to keep the crappy contract I'm on. (Like you, I was just too lazy to change it!)

So from tomorrow when the new T-Mobile sim card arrives I'll be on a 30 Day rolling plan, one that I can cancel at any time for £15/30days getting 350 mins, a lot of texts and an impressive 1.5GB data.
I honestly think it's a fantastic deal, certainly love that I can cancel at any time and love the 1.5GB! But the biggest thing for me is I can finally get 3G at home, town and work. It means I can actually *use* my iPhone away from home!

Like you say though, I will miss the visual voicemail even though I probably get less than 20 a year!!

I could never get my BT OpenZone Cloud thingy working...ever...can't get it working with my BT account either... so thats not a factor for me :)

Hey guys, you do know that O2 is doing an amazing Simplicity (sim only) contract at the moment that you get unlimited minutes, unlimited text and 1GB of internet for £20 a month!!! (12 month contract)

At last I managed to get through to O2 cancellations on the phone to get my PAC code.

Think its pretty shocking that they were too busy dealing with upgrades to deal with cancellations.

Not sure what to do:

Orange - expensive
Vodafone - expensive
O2 - expensive
Tesco - no pricing plans yet
GiffGaff - no nano-sims
Three - terrible coverage here

God damn. Ideally I need around 1GB data and didn't want to spend much more than £10p/m, looking very unlikely right now. GiffGaff I'd be very happy to stay with, but assuming I do get the new iPhone and don't join the dark side of Android, they won't really be an option.

Any word on what delivery company they are using yet? Im praying for parcelforce as i can pick it up that night if i miss them

Nooo not parcelfarce they throw packages about all over, every time i've had something delivered it's been battered!

UPS and RM/ParcelForce is what I've been informed.

Hope it's UPS or special delivery, they're normally good with deliveries.

Vodafone NanoSim

Vodafone is now distributing nanosim via calling. Estimate is 3 working days for delivery!

Bring on friday!:)

can i just ask.......who actually gives a monkey's butt when it was made? What difference does it make if it was in week 35, 37 or whatever?

But they dont try and redeliver next working day (AKA FRIDAY!) when they have failed. I can pick it up from the lovely depot half a mile from my house :)

I've ordered a nano sim from vodafone,
Did anyone else get charged for this?

I was told there would be a £2.50 delivery charge.

Seemed the in thing to do lol :p

i wasn't mocking (as such lol) but just wondered....are people worried that the earlier it was made the more likely there are to be errors with it or something?? Ie week 37 are more likely to be perfect than week 35 for instance? Surely they wouldn't pass quality control if there was?

Just realised Vodafone has:

300 minutes
500MB internet
Unlimited texts

For £10.50 per month. Not ideal and not a lot of data, but tempting...
