UK iPhone 5 thread

No one in the UK has received shipment notice yet, they are likely to be shipped from the mainland and not China.
Hoping my delivery will be in the morning. I am working in the Middle East at the moment but luckily my wife is flying out to visit me on Friday. Her train leaves for London at 2 pm so I am hoping for an early delivery so that she can bring it with her. If delivery is in the afternoon or later, I won't get it until I get back at the end of October.
Email From Apple - Order Delayed
I ordered my phone direct from apple here in the UK at 08:37, as early as I could make it through the system and I have just received an email from apple saying that my order will take an extra 1-2 days to reach me One of my colleagues also just got the same email, although another didnt!
Oddly, the order page on the apple website doesnt seem to have updated to reflect this and it still estimates delivery on the 21st so not sure how long it'll take now as its a public holiday on monday so will wait and see if theres any movement on the order soon.
Has anyone else seen anything like this?

Apparently mine has been selected in the warehouse and pending dispatch.
I am collecting from store but haven't got any information regarding that on the site.

what was your tracking showing as? "Preparing for Shipment" or "Processing"?
That happened to me, apart from it was a Phone call not an email. Mine is still sat on processing delivers 21/9 now
The map posted earlier in this thread shows that Aberdeen will take longer to deliver to, maybe the person that didn't receive the e-mail does not live in Aberdeen.
Its showing as "Processing". I think they had tried to call but couldnt get through, so sent an email. Waiting to see if my order changes at the moment, hopefully not!

Ouu I missed the maps! Ill have a look, although those of us that received the email are getting it delivered to city centre addresses less than a mile from the apple store, and the person that didnt is getting it deleiverd 40 miles outside of town in the hills.
I should learn a little patience I think
The question is will EE be covering your area. No good for me at home as I have wifi, I need LTE when im out and about.
Why not just stay with O2 on a SIM only tarrif and see what EE offer.
The moment my contract was up I switched to a SIM only deal for 6 months while I waited for the iP5. Saved myself £144 over those 6 months which went into my new phone fund.

Maybe me.. I was on O2 300 in SIM only tariff with a £5 loyalty discount worked out around £12.50 PM. I called up Friday to see if I upgraded to the £20PM Tariff would I still get my £5 off and they agreed. I negotiated hard for that £5 and it really does depend on timing & who you speak to. I basically put it to them that with cash-back a new customer could get the same tariff for less which is unfair to current loyal customers.
They guy I was talking to was shocked by the tariff I got and just kept saying "wow that's a really good deal"

Andy, login to https://supportprofile.apple.com and see if your iPhone 5 is listed in your devices. Some of here have and can see our new phones serial number which means its been allocated. Would be interesting to see if yours has even been allocated.

Just ordered a nano sim off Orange. The guy was not happy i preordered from Apple. Asked the size and colour i ordered then reluctantly sent me a nano sim and stated i should order off Orange in the future for a more 'streamlined experience'.

Who's your carrier? You should be able to get one from them.
I'm on Three, 333 sent me a nano sim but forgot the adapter so I popped into my local 3 store and they gave me an adapter no probs. Activated the SIM in my current iP4 so all ready to go.
Just go into a 3 store saying you've ordered some sims online and want the adapter so you can use it in your current phone.
