I find it odd that Orange give tracking numbers and T-Mobile don't when they are under the same parent company and the websites are virtually identical though.

Yeah don't say that on the phone to them, they get all defensive and start saying they are not the same as Orange.

I'm only trying to get a nano-sim from them. They are the only UK Network to make you wait until 21st Sept and the only network to charge for the Sim card. They tried to tell me Orange definitely won't be offering them for free, which is a lie.

No pack (probably cos I bought the phone from Apple instead of them), just the sim on the card in folded cardboard with the instructions about texting that 20202 number to balance transfer to this new sim, I got this free, thought I might have to pay £10 topup for it but no charge which was nice but no converter/adapter with it.

What should I do, should I ask in store tomorrow for a converter, and do the transfer in my current iPhone 4 and then just pop it into the 5 on Friday or do the transfer in the 5?

Go and pick up an adaptor for a nano SIM from Three, then do the swap. If you do the swap as you are now you'll be stuck because your new sim won't fit into your iP4.

Damn 3

Those jumped up little twits at 3 have just failed my credit check!!!

I've got/had 100s of contracts in the last 20 years and have never been failed once. I'm more affluent now than at any time in my life, I regularly use my credit cards and Experian tell me I have an excellent credit rating.

What gives? Don't they want my business?

I can't bear to stay with O2, hopefully a visit to a Three store tomorrow might allow me to furnish Three with £25/m for the foreseeable future...

Miffed from SW London!! :mad::mad::mad:

So just to clarify. Get adapter and do transfer of balance and phone number now in iPhone 4 instead of doing the swap when it's in the iPhone 5 on Friday? Yes? Best trouble free option?

Thanks.

Could be any number of reasons, including you typoing as you filled in your details. All it can take is putting in the wrong time with a bank or at a certain address and if it doesn't match their records, you get declined.

Yup. That way when the iPhone 5 delivers you just pop your already pre-activated nano SIM in and enjoy.

If you wait till friday, you might have to wait several hours. Because the systems of all these carriers will likely get hammered by thousands of activations and switchovers.

Do you already have a phone contract? They might fail you if they think you're trying to run two contracts at the same time. They failed me when I tried to open a new contract while I was already on one of their monthly rolling contracts.

Thanks Daneoni, I'm popping into town tomorrow anyway so I'll ask in O2 store and if they don't have any I'll try the other carrier specific stores right next door or carphone warehouse, hopefully one of them will have one.

Yet their staff in the stores are saying they don't get them till Friday

Used to have a mobile bband contract from 3, but transferred it to payg 3 months ago. Definitely did not make any typos in the application, confirmed by a phone call from Three who asked me all my details again.

Very odd behaviour...I've sent a polite email to their credit checking team for a review of the check, hopefully they get round to reading the email sooner rather than later!

I must say I have had conflicting responses from them, so I am going to phone the number suggested by Brady tomorrow and hopefully clear things up!

Then again O2 seemed very messy when it came to pre-orders initially, with users getting told soon where soon meant in 10 hours! It seems most UK networks at some point have been having bad customer service. But at the moment it appears T-Mobile seem to be the ones with the most confusion.
Which is unfortunate as I have pre-order with them!

I find it odd that Orange give tracking numbers and T-Mobile don't when they are under the same parent company and the websites are virtually identical though.

They dont seem to be giving them to everyone though, I ordered early friday and haven't received an email or text let alone a tracking number!

I can't find out any details for online or phone orders I'm afraid, if I do find anything out I'll update but if you called up Friday morning to pre-order I'd be very surprised if you didn't receive it on launch date. The stock levels that the network received (as normal for iPhones) hasn't been released.

I'm not sure where stores have been getting the information about not being able to give nano sims out until Friday as our store was told you can sell them when you get them. The only stock that is currently "quarantined" in-store are the LTE handsets for EE and (when we get them) the 5's.

For the Monday pre-orders in-store it really will be hit or miss I'm afraid. No stores are being prioritised pre-order stock as it is entirely first come first serve as we all use the same pre-order system now...

Just to give a bit of history: When the 4S launched we had pre-orders and on top of that stores were also sent stock to sell on the day. The stock provided for on the day sales was purely based around footfall of the stores. Low footfall stores received 2 handsets that were none preorder, medium around 10 and large around 20 (some exceptions to this were Oxford St etc). That was with the old pre-order system that really wasn't great. The new pre-order system will automatically text you when the store receives the stock so you should know Weds/Thurs without the need to call up.

If you pre-ordered Monday and don't receive a text I would strongly recommend calling up Thurs to check if they do have yours in and if they don't check if they have had any pre-orders cancelled and if they can hold it by for you instead. We had 2 people in today who cancelled their pre-orders which means when we get this stock in we will be able to sell those handsets to anyone who walks off the street on Friday morning (they won't just automatically be reserved for the next pre-order as the phone will already have been attached to that one customers pre-order if that makes sense). They might not be open to holding the handset back as they know they would be able to sell it that morning no problem so let them know you are gonna be taking the insurance out with the phone (take it and cancel next day if you want, no tie ins at all) as this is an area of targets that is focused on heavily. You telling them you will be taking the policy out with the phone will almost guarantee that they will keep the handset for you.

Anybody in the uk or specifically the north west(not a bad place) have orders on apple still saying preparing for shipment

Me. Ordered on Friday at about half 8, Preparing for Shipment on Saturday, yet no Shipped. Still Delivers 9/21 (stupid yanks and their backwards dates).

I've ordered a 16gb online and am now thinking I might want 32gb instead. Can I exchange it at an apple store or will I have to return it by post.

I've seen 'no' answers to this question elsewhere but they're US based which is why in asking in this thread.

I believe that you will have to send the 16GB back to Apple.com and re-order a 32GB online or try to get one in store.

Ok, thanks. I'll be keeping the 16 then! Can't see me putting up with all the waiting involved in that. 16 is probably fine for me anyway.

Items ordered from Apple's Online store must be returned by post. You'd have to either find a 32 and buy it before you get your refund (it will take a week to process) or wait till you get the money for 6 back, and then buy the 32.
