are you with o2? how easy did they make it for you to do the sim swap? :)

Yes! Don't do it online (waited for hours and nothing happened) but if you text 'SWAP' to 20220 and then follow the instructions it worked in about 4min!

Oh. If you look at the online one, it says something about the serial no on the back of the sim starts with 894411 or something - the nano doesn't have this (as they removed it to make the numbers slightly larger) so just text the number on the back without putting the 894411 in!

totally new to preordering from apple and im from the UK, on my apple account it says delivery 21st september, when i will be able to start tracking it?

sorry if this is a stupid question

The problem here is that due to the secrecy that Apple demand of people in the supply chain, it is impossible to train all the support staff... Otherwise there would be leaks all over the place....T-Mobile will have thousands of CSR'S in the UK..... Multiply that up to all the carriers globally.... That is a lot of people to try and keep quiet under NDA's

I feel for the people in the call centres who have to deal with our frustrations because of the way Apple whips up the hype around the products without allowing any of the carries to train staff in time.

I would put good money on people coming to work as CSR's to find out that the iPhone 5 has just launched and not have any training or info... Not through lack of organisation ....just the secrecy demanded.

As the iPhone gets bigger and bigger.... I don't know how long apple can maintain this secrecy.... Well I guess they have a harder time these days given the volume of phones made, media / consumer interest and the amount of people involved..... That is a lot of people to NDA.

I feel sorry for them too, but not because of the impact of Apple secrecy. I can only imagine the abuse they take over the phone from some of the impatient jumped up whinging little *****s that are posting here! Some of you even seem to go so far as to antagonise these people on purpose so you can swap war stories on here.

Not a stupid question at all.

Consensus seems to be that the UK stock is already in the UK or Ireland (unlike the US stock which is still shipping out of China). Because of that, we'll probably only get tracking info on Thursday, maybe this evening at the earliest.

Either from this evening or possibly tomorrow. I think it's fair to say that the phones have been in the UK for a while already and will be shipped overnight on Thursday.

----------

I'm not so worried about getting a sim (although of course I will need one.)

I was just worried as that guy before said he had failed the credit check for Three and wondered how long they'd leave it to tell me (get my sim today then a few days down the line I get told I've been rejected although I've used minutes, texts and data!)

I'm not saying it will happen, just a worst case scenario.
They won't let you spend any money on credit with them if you have failed a check.

Hi,
If you are as obsessive as me (!) you can get a free App called Deliveries for iPad or iPhone that you can click to update umpteen times a day.

My Lightning USB cable now says 'Tendered for Delivery' & tracking information is on the Apple Store.

iPhone still says 'Preparing for Shipment Ship date unknown Delivered by 21 September.

I expect that to change tomorrow & I'll then be able to track it. Where I live the delivery is by UPS & they've never failed to deliver on time.

cheers was just starting to get worried as everyone was talking about tracking number from china.

finally managed to get a nano sim out of orange and hopefully that will be delivered tomorrow or friday :)

I just rang t-mobile and they are still giving me the same rubbish that you can wait up to 30 days and that they will not receive the phone in till Friday 21st. They seem to talk so much rubbish. It really is a joke. Every other carrier gets them before the 21st so I am sure t-mobile will. Anyone else tried calling them or gotten any other information?

are u from the uk?

orange were like that messed me about since the iphone was announced and they never had a clue what one was until yesterday and aloud customers to order one?

Has anyone who pre-ordered from O2 received an email confirmation of their order?

I placed my pre-order over the phone on Saturday, but nothing in my inbox to confirm it. They took the money from my account though (of course there would be no delay in doing that now, would there?)

I spoke to a rep on their chat thingy yesterday who said I can take the chat as my "confirmation" that my order existed - what BS!

Thoroughly unimpressed with them...

Hey guys, for the ones on O2 doing the swap to nano, how long is the process taking for you? I did mine yesterday online and said it would take a couple of hours, it's been about 18 hours now and my current micro sim is still working.

Anyone that received a 3 nano-sim and have their old carrier number ported over yet?

Our nanos arrived yesterday and I phone around midday to port my O2 number over. Problem is, my O2 micro sim still works and the 3 nano doesn't.

Has anyone who pre-ordered from O2 received an email confirmation of their order?

i pre-ordered via the website and got an email confirmation almost immediately afterwards. my girlfriend did the same on monday and again, email came in straight away.

You can check on the O2 website if you've got a MyO2 account set up - goto http://mymobile.o2.co.uk/myorders
That will show you the details of the order and if you click through into the order, if they've packaged up your phone ready to send it'll list the parcel number so you can track it with the courier.

However, from what i hear, only those who pre-ordered with O2 before 8pm on Friday 14th are likely to get their phones on this coming friday. After 8pm they'd used up their pre-order allocation and so could be upto 3 weeks afterwards depending on when they get new stock from Apple.

CPW Orders

Hello everyone!

Three days (if you include today) to go!!

Anyway has anyone who preordered over the phone at CPW had their order dispatched and received an email or anything?

I called up last night since I hadn't received any form of communication since Friday and it turns out that my order wasn't closed properly!!

They've assured me that it'll be closed tonight and that they've emailed the warehouse to make sure that stock gets picked for my order and it'll be delivered on Friday BUT it still makes me nervous! And they've gone and taken the money!

As giffgaff are moving their unlimited data to only the £15 tariff upwards, im now looking at the other sim only deals out there.

Ive noticed that 3mobile do the Ultimate Internet SIM 200 1 month, £12.90 p/m, and you can also add tethering for £5 p/m, making it £17.90 p/m. Does anybody utilise this tethering, what are your experiences.

My only worry is about 3s network coverage. The last time I was on 3mobile, (over 6 years ago) coverage was very spotty to say the least. One thing I can say about O2/giffgaff is that ive never really had problem with decent coverage

Also quidco offer great cashback for ordering 3mobile sims, e.g £25 cash back for Ultimate Internet SIM 200 1 month. approx £90 for an iPhone 5 contract.

Hold fire on the tethering add on for now as you will find you can tether just fine without it. Sure, the T's and C's say you arnt permitted, it doesnt say you cant. Its like a speed limit, you shouldnt go faster, but you can. I'm on the £12 one which gives me 300 mins and 1GB and I can tether, as can the wife.

3's coverage is a lot better now. 97% of the country with 3G (they dont do 2G at all). I think the coverage other networks quote is including 2G voice.

:D:D:D just rang Apple asking about tracking info, the lady said i will receive tracking info either today or tomorrow and i will receive the iPhone Friday 21st.

And just to clarify for all of you she said it's either UPS or TNT delivering them if you bought it online from Apple.

She also said she will keep an eye on my order and as soon as she see's a tracking number appear she will email me, What a very nice lady indeed. :)

Can anyone help please....i'm currently on orange but I ordered a 3 nano SIM which was delivered to me Monday......so it's currently just waiting in the draw for the iPhone 5 to arrive.

1st question is, when the phone comes, will it just be an easy case as to put the new SIM in and it will work straight away or will i have to wait ages for it to be activated??

Also, I didn't bother with an adaptor to activate now as my current iPhone 4 the SIM tray is stuck and i can't get it out. I have my PAC code from orange so i'm ready to swap my number over as soon as i get the phone. So yea, just basically wondering also whether the orange SIM will go completely dead once the number has ported? (ie if i sell it no one can use it?)

If anyone can let me know about these 2 queries, would be much appreciated! Cheers!
