They were talking about before the end of 2012 so I added another 3 months leeway.

"Three has licensed existing spectrum from other providers in order to rollout 4G phones on 3, hopefully before the end of 2012."

I would hang fire on that for now. That's not the official 3 webpage for starters. And EE are not obliged to hand over use of the 2x15MHz blocks that were sold until September 2013. Can you see them giving up that USP before they have to?

does anyone know if O2 will provide these Nano Sim packs for customers buying the phone unlocked from Apple?

On the site it says

Your nano sim pack will come with two converters: one for micro sims and one for standard sims. If you ever need another one, you can get one at an O2 shop.

So can just pick one up in store apparently. With my micro sim I literally asked the guy "can I have a micro sim" and he was like yeah sure and got me one.

Had to move my number via the website though.

Honestly, as somebody who works in the industry, no chance of that happening. EE have to release the spectrum to Three, something which they were dragging their heels over. Then Three have to start deploying the kit into their network, integrating and testing it.

That's before you even think about how this fits with the whole MBNL thing who own and operate Orange, T-Mobile and Three's 3G networks.

I think Three are being highly optimistic on this one, sadly.

EE say in the fine print that you'll have to pay a fee and agree a new contract to switch to EE for 4G from orange/tmobile.

I'm with Three and glad I am, they currently have HSDPA+ which the iPhone 5 finally supports, and they'll be getting LTE within the next 6 months. Also very good value and they have info on Nano SIMs already.

The 4S supports HSDPA+ as well....

OK O2 just replied on twitter:

My question:
@O2 what about users on monthly tarrifs? None contract o2 users? Can we goto o2 shop and pick up nano sims? From tmrw? Or after 21st Sept?

O2 Reply:

Hi there, no need to worry about picking one up - you'll get one with the iPhone :)

So it seems Apple are providing nano-sims with the phone? and we then activate it on O2 via swapmysim.o2.co.uk via the serial number...

Somehow didn't even notice that!

Well I do agree, LTE isn't a massive thing for me anyway, but it does look like EE and Three will be the only two networks who will provide LTE for the iPhone 5

how do they know which company you are going with? unless its a generic sim?

Ties in with what I was told - new contract. So if 4G isn't available in my area I could stay with Orange on 3G, presumably on a lower tariff than EE - who will be milking the business market??????

Spoke to O2 and they said:

Nano sim available on 21st sept. Mine is gonna be delivered to my home address- very kind of O2.

Migration from old micro-sim to nano-sim will probably take 24 hrs after that...

so all in all it will be like 24hrs after getting ip5 that it sill be fully usable.

Hi

Are O2 sending you a nano sim to arrive on the 21st or do we have to wait until the 21st before we can order the sim or collect from a store?

Alex

I'm on Three, monthly rolling, and plan on buying unlocked off the Apple store. With that in mind, what's my best route to a nano-sim? I asked in the Three store earlier, I dont think the girl really had a clue, she mumbled about all nano-sims being reserved for pre-ordered iPhones with them. Anyone experienced different?

I'm wondering if, when I preorder my 5 on the Apple store, I could add a 3 sim to my order, then get my existing account ported to that?

Just received this text from tesco. Link is dead atm though

go to O2 website> contact us at the bottom of page> start chat. Choose "something else" in drop down and start the chat.

Ask for a nano sim to go with iphone 5. they ask for existing number, name, address, last bill date and amount. they deliver this out to your home address on the account.

To those selling iPhone 4S

To anyone selling iPhone 4S i have found best value for money (beating even ebay in some cases) is surprisingly asda tech trade in!

https://tradein.asda.com/

Giving £270 for the 16gb in usable condition.

Current pricing for eBay is around £320 mark and when you take the fees of paypal and ebay out of this and consider the hassle that is eBay for me Asda will be receiving my phone very soon if i finally decide to upgrade!

(locked into contract form my 4S and just don't know what to do still!)

Hope this helped someone at least :)

Trying to decide whether to just upgrade with O2, or to buy outright from Apple, and wait and see what happens with EE in Liverpool.

The one thing that's holding me back is the lack of visiual voicemail. Trying to find out from @EE whether they'll support it, but haven't had a reply yet.

I just tried this and the chat agent was just repeating the line that they can't do anything until the 21st.

What I've been told...

I think you'll be able to upgrade in an Apple store, but as there is no pre-order and collect option, you'll have to queue.

I've spoken to a guy in the local Store. He's not aware of a reserve-for-in-store-pickup option, but they do upgrades in store on the day. Wasn't too busy last time, apparently, so may go there on Friday unless my Vodafone business contact can guarantee me one on the day...

Not bad, I checked for the 64gb version and I think Asda are slightly beat elsewhere.
I use this site to compare http://www.sellmymobile.com/phone/apple-iphone-4s-16gb/

Also, WOW at this! http://www.sellmymobile.com/phone/apple-iphone-5-16gb/ £550 for an iPhone 5 LOL. £575 for unlocked! That's a good amount MORE than what they cost new from Apple!
