By that, do you mean I can move to a Nano SIM now and just put it in a Micro SIM adaptor to use in my 4S in the interim, and then just put the raw NANO in my i5?

Hhmm didn't think of that! Off to Vodafone later to see if they have any in stock yet ;)

I am going to get the 32GB from Apple, trying to pre-order tomorrow at 8AM!

Does anyone know, do they take the money tomorrow or just before dispatch.

They will put a 'hold' on the money when you purchase, which means they'll confirm you've got the funds and the money will be reserved for them so you won't be able to spend it and your available credit will drop by £600. However, holds on credit cards only last a couple of days, so by next week the funds will be available to you again, only for them to disappear on or about 21st when Apple actually charges you on despatch.

This confuses a lot of people every launch when they see the money disappear off their cards only to go back on again after a few days, they worry that Apple (or whoever) has cancelled the sale but it's just Apple checking you've got the money (even though you could actually spend it once it's available again before they charge you).

Bottom line is even though you won't be charged till 21st, you'll need the money available tomorrow.

Your link doesn't work

Yea it defo worked a minute a go but their site must be getting bombarded.........i cant get on now :(

There was an awesome tarriff tho.......1 month rolling contract, 200 mins, 500 texts, truely unlimited data for £12.90 a month!!!

I WANT THAT DEAL NOW, LET ME ON THE SITE LOL!!

5000 texts i mean!

Am i the only one who thinks iP5 is really a harder sell for 4S users. Outside of the bigger screen and LTE (A6 vs A5 isn't that much of a jump to me) there is very little advantage.

4S users get 100% compatibility with iOS 6 and the hardware is by no means a slouch.

They must be updating their site, keeps changing all the time!

To be honest if i had a 4S i wouldn't bother....but i'm still on my iP4 so i need an upgrade, battery dying and just feels slow now

yes absolutely, in fact I have iOS 6 GM on my 4S now and just took my first panoramic pic (works amazingly well) and there's hardly any reason for me to upgrade..

and yet...

Year on year upgrades are never that significant across all devices, be it laptops, phones etc.

Personally, and this is nothing to do with the finance involved, I've never seen the point in upgrading every year. From a 4, this is going to be a sizable upgrade :)

It is I have a 4S and im upgrading because my mum asked if she could have my 4S if I upgraded so I said yes :p

every 2 years for me.. the next phone for me will be the 6 in 2 years time when im done with the 5... the 5s will look identicle to the 5

I think bigger screen, A6 (IF A15 architecture) and the better battery life and form factor are pretty convincing reasons. LTE would be a much bigger deal in about a years time over here :p Especially if you can't/don't want to move networks.

Though even if you sell a 4S the difference will be about £200-£400. It's a lot of effort lol.

This makes a lot of sense. I got a 4S as my first iPhone, so I'm not sure if I want to be in the 's' cycle :p We seem to get bigger software updates though...

FFS 3 are changing their site all the time, now apparrently they are only doing 1 SIM only deal, a minute ago it was none.....2 mins before that it was about 10.....lol.......and the nano has gone from the site for now too, but it defo was there....said Regular, Micro, or Nano for the new iphone only

Due an upgrade with o2 after 3GS then Iphone 4 contract ran out. Been on simplicity since then with my 4GS. The advisor was hopeless giving me no information saying I had to Wait until 21st. Like many of you on here I want the phone on launch day so no chance am i waiting. Infact i'm sick of o2 so I am going to move, no priority to long term LOYAL customers.

Hoping to pre order tomorrow morning, presumably at 8am through apple and buying it outright. Then waiting until the carriers, preferably now orange or EE, to pick my best short term contract. How easy is it going to be to get a nano sim in the mean time? Are o2 giving out nano sims? Will apple send me a nano sim that i can connect to a network?

Plan B is if i miss out on a pre order (i have uni at 9) then i will try and get one via Carphone warehouse on an Orange contract.

All too vague at this stage but excited never the less.

I agree with you. Im upgrading my 2 year old 3GS , to me it will be a massive upgrade, bigger screen, retina(finally)lol, front camera, decent rear camera with flash etc etc. If i was in your shoes i would probably wait till next year and the next version which should be a more considerable step!

TBH vodafone are offering me the 4S for free atm which is a hard deal to say no too, either will be a massive upgrade from the 3GS!

the jump from 3gs will be amazing for you!

Just phoned Orange....the guy there told me they are DEFINITELY doing pre orders for the phone on contract from tomorrow at 8am....same time as apple are doing the unlocked versions.......he didn't know if we could order online at 8am tomorrow, but said definitely they are on the phone.....and the tarrif prices may come out tonight sometime hopefully but unsure.

My O2 webchat:

Neil Jones: If I'm an existing customer who will be getting my iPhone 5 direct from Apple, will I be able to get an O2 nanoSIM before 21st?

Damien: Neil, I'm sorry but nanosim will be available from 21st only.

Neil Jones: What about in-stores? With the iPhone 4 launch I was able to go into an O2 store the day before with proof of my order with Apple and pick one up

Damien: Yes, you can surely go to the store and check with them. If they have nanosim with them, they'll surely give it to you before 21st.

So not much help there - I presume the answer about stores was just a guess as O2 online/CS don't seem to have anything to do with the high street retail part of O2
