Ok, so I know most of you seemed to have pre-ordered online and whatnot but I'm posting this so hopefully it'll help out the guys in a similar situation to me.
I pre-ordered my iPhone 5 at 9am(ish) on the 14th in-store at my local Three store.
Just been in today to check on the status and whatnot because I hadn't heard anything and needed to know if I should get to town before work on Friday to pick it up.
Told I'll definitely have mine ready for Friday, looks like people who have been in pre-ordering up until Sunday/Monday should be all set too from what they were saying.
Opening early doors at 8.00am on the day. Told Apple (apparently) have put on an embargo so nothing can possibly go through the till before 8.01am. This seems a little odd to me as I noticed the Carphone Warehouse down the road was opening at 7am. Then again, 8am is when the Apple Stores open isn't it?
Guys aren't expecting much of a queue as obviously the stock is being allocated in the order with pre-orders. Though they know people will queue anyway and there'll be people like me trying to pick up before work at 9am.
They'll be ringing everyone tomorrow afternoon to confirm that their iPhone will be ready.
Really excited now, always had a niggling doubt i'd pick one up as it's my first time getting a new phone at launch!
Has anyone from T-Mobile got a text or email with a tracking number yet?
Has anyone from T-Mobile got a text or email with a tracking number yet?
Thanks for the heads up. Can u tell me how the tethering works on the iPhone, does it have to be jail broken to access it? Or is the iPhone hotspot option available to be enabled by default
not as yet, ordered at 8.25am friday but only finalised it sunday as i chased T mobile up (new customer) and had to sort a few things. Hoping though, that they work off customer order numbers so i may still get friday.
Who knows though?
A few questions
1. I've had my iPhone 4 since July 2010, so it's gone through iOS 4, 5 and today I'll upgrade it to 6. When I get the iPhone 5, I am undecided on whether to use the iCloud back up of my 4 or set it up as a brand new phone... Are there any disadvantages of using the back up from my iPhone 4?
2. Does anyone have a coverage map for HSPA+ on Orange? And what are the likely speeds I'd be getting. Assuming they have a HSPA+ network rolled out that is, I have heard that they do...
I would DEFINITELY recommend a backup/ restore onto new phone using iTunes locally.
Even if you have chosen iCloud as the backup mechanism you can still force a local backup by right-clicking your phone in the iTunes sidebar and clicking 'Backup'. Then restore your new phone when prompted on initial setup.

I ordered mine on Saturday also.
It seems only Fridays have started to ship, though O2 have said they'll get all pre-orders out for Friday. I wouldn't worry until tomorrow night.
Mine is showing the same as yours.![]()
No jailbreaking needed. Just use the built in personal hotspot function.
Why are there so many jailbreak apps for tethering if it can be done on the phone by default?
My number has now transferred from O2 to my brand new Three nano sim
Bring on Friday!
1) Hence why I said 'may'But I reckon they will, personal hunch.
2) Taken from T-Mobile website for aplan with 'Unlimited data' on the Full Monty plan:
Fair Use Policy for mobile broadband
However much you use the internet, you'll never get charged extra
We're the only operator to offer you a fixed price for browsing and emailing on your mobile broadband connection with no limits and no extra charges.
Never pay more than your monthly fixed price
You can always browse and email with no limits
Perfect for getting online when you're out and about
Is there an allowance?
You can browse and email as much as you want.
Your plan will come with an allowance which varies depending on the plan that you select however we will not charge you if you go over your allowance. If they go over their allowance we will not charge any extra or prevent them from using the internet however we may restrict their usage on downloads and streaming.
The limit for the Full Monty plan is 1GB acording to their own site.
3) Luckily I live in Bristol! But I wonder how many people will use it and if it will slow the network down for the first year or so...still not sold on it fully yet seeing as its brand new.
tmobile said:Our Full Monty plans will give you unlimited use of our internet on your phone service when you're in the UK. This means you can use as many MB/GB as you like and no fair use policy will apply. Please note, internet on your phone excludes using your phone as a modem (tethering) and network traffic controls apply. Your peer to peer file sharing experience will also be slower during peak hours. Remember, you can only use your SIM card in a mobile phone and you'll need internet coverage, check it at t-mobile.co.uk/streetcheck. To be clear, this means if you try to use your SIM in a mobile broadband enabled device you won't be able to get online. If you choose a BlackBerry phone from us, you’ll also get BlackBerry Mail and BBM free (usually £5 a month) too. No fair use policy applies to the BlackBerry Mail booster.
In addition to our internet on your phone service, you'll also get access to our preferred WiFi partner's WiFi network; presently this is the BT Wi-Fi network excluding any sites providing access to any organisation or location which is part of the Olympic Games in London in 2012 . The BT Wi-Fi terms, including those about acceptable use, will also apply to you. You can see these at http://www.btwifi.co.uk/terms-and-conditions/acceptable-use-policy.jsp. As we aren't the provider of the WiFi service, we aren't responsible for whether there is WiFi available where you want it, or for the quality of that service. We might swap your WiFi service to another preferred partner in future, provided that you get the same experience.
I was told by their CS (so believe that if you want) they would give you a 4 hour slot it would be delivered in, which doesn't really help that much.
How long has anyone's nano sim taken to arrive by post from Three? I ordered mine on Monday evening and it quoted delivery for today (Wednesday).
Thought it was a bit optimistic considering how hectic things are. I'm just hoping it arrives before Friday to set it up before the chaos that is launch day!![]()
Still nothing more than an order confirmation email for new three customers?
Not all carriers permit using tething (it can be optionally locked out by them, depending on contract/tarriff t&c's).
Hi all,
So I spoke to Apple.com customer service today to try and cancel my lightening/USB cable which I assumed had pushed my delivery date back from Friday 21st to October 2nd.
The lady at the other end of the phone confirmed that, by default, all iPhone 5 orders with accessories will have the phone shipped out on the 21st (if pre-ordered early enough) and the accessory will be shipped later.
i.e. rather than the usual shipping where they wait until all items are available, they will ship the phone and accessory seperately.
She said this was going to apply to all iPhone pre-orders - so anyone who has pre-ordered through the Apple Store online should be ok, however you might want to give them a call too just to confirm, was very quick and painless to get through to them, and means you dont have to cancel the order for any accessories you want.
Cheers.
