UK iPhone 5 thread

The weirdest thing happened when I downloaded iOS 6 to the 4S. It no longer shows Orange (or occasionally T-Mobile) but instead shows EE as the carrier. Have we somehow stumbled upon some 3.5G somewhere unexpectedly Orange customers? Makes me even more excited to receive the 5 on Friday if I am going to latch onto some proper 4G
 
Received the shipped email with syncreon but how do I track and trace in detail as you would with ups or TNT?

Orange said on there Facebook page about 20 mins ago, iPhone users will start seeing ee instead of orange / t mobile.
 
Mine has shipped with UPS and ETA says 21st or before. Hmm!

iOS6 on iP3GS, iP4 and iPad 2... 10.8.2 downloading to MBP now and iP5 is in the post. happy happy week!

orange just made a tweet about this its nothing to worry about and they said it would be happening to all orange and t mobile users

Anyone else pre-ordered over the phone with three and heard anything?

Moneys been taken but no contact as of yet.

Unfortunately no, you have not stumbled onto LTE.

You will start to see EE as the carrier when you used to see Orange or T- Mobile as they migrate the network.

Is that a new SIM or the older SIM you are using?

I have been running Gold Master and betas on my 4S and iPad... And not seen EE so far.... But I know it is coming.... In fact I got a text today telling me it is coming.

Here is the Tweet from EE....

"@EE: iPhone users might notice their phone now says EE. Don't worry, you're still an Orange or T-Mobile customer, only the name shown has changed"

Not as long as friday for me. I'm at work all day, won't get to play with it until after 6pm :(


Anyones Syncreon or UPS tracking working yet ? Really interested to know if they've actually been picked up yet..

Ouch :(, and no tracking isn't live.
 
Anyone has any success getting iPhones unlocked at these "Mobile Accessory and Unlocking stalls" you see in some shopping centres. I had O2 unlock my iPhone 4 months ago but the wife's is still locked to O2 and they now take 2 weeks to unlock it.

Essentially meaning once her phone number is ported over to her new 3 nano-sim tomorrow she can't use it with an adapter until her iPhone 5 comes.

Ooo well that would be great then :D ... hope so! Though the fact my UPS tracking order isn't working, prob means it will be Friday ...
 
For people asking, give it 24 hours and on the syncreon link from apple you will see a proper tracking number from ups. Put that number into ups tracking and voila! However, it maybe 24 hours for that to track so chill! ;)

Agreed, it's nothing to do with IOS and rather EE updating their systems to reflect the new branding. They said it would happen this way at the LTE launch press conference
 
Status

i ordered on the apple website on the 17th and my order status is this:
Processing Items Dispatched: 2 - 3 Weeks Delivers 09 Oct, 2012 - 15 Oct, 2012

is it right to be still 'processing items'? just checking :), and also could it actually come maybe a week before that, e.g 02 oct?
 
I don't mind when mine arrives, if its tomorrow I will pick it up from the post office on Friday, if its Friday I will pick it up Saturday morning! Unless the delivery person happens to leave it with a neighbour, not sure they will with something of this value? Its not like I ordered some lame ebay junk.
 
Three Nano-SIM picked up this lunchtime (inc. free adapter), Apple shipment notification this evening, nice!

UPS delivery here, going to go check the tracking websites now :)
 
Just got an email from Apple Store

"We expect your order to be delivered to your shipping address on or before 21/09/2012."
