Go to Settings > General > About and you should get a prompt that their is a carrier profile update and it will then change to EE. I was on iOS6 GM and that worked for me.

Installing iOS6 must trigger it to check for a carrier profile update.

On the Wife's 4 it has profile 12.0 .... Did not prompt me and still says Orange.... What version of the profile do you have now that EE is displayed?

I seem to remember having to do it with the iPad 3 to unlock the hotspot feature on the Three SIM

I have never heard of SYNCREON PARCEL DELIVERY before! Apparently they are delivering my iphone though! Hope they take notice of my door sign telling them to leave it with my neighbour!

10.8.2 Downloaded in about 3 minutes
iOS 6 On the other hand really slow, must be getting hit pretty hard, luckily I've just started watching Dexter so I have something to kill time

Regarding tethering on Three... Are people managing to do this on any plan? I pre-ordered through Three last Friday in store and I chose the one plan due to its tethering. I certainly don't need the 2000 minutes it offers and 500 would be plenty for me. So is it worth switching to the ultimate 500 plan and seeing if I can still tether?

It would be a bit pointless if I did that and then it didn't work! The devices I would want to tether to are a playbook and an iPad once I get one next year. Also will be watching movies via netflix on the go as well as sky go.

I used tethering today on a plan that doesn't include it.

in the iOS6 beta there used to be an option for apps to use 3G if there was a problem with Wifi, i can't find it now, does anyone see it?

Well I'm looking at either the £10.50 or £15.50 plans.
The £10.50 plan comes with £50 cash back = £8.40/month
The £15.50 plan comes with £80 cash back = £12.15/month

Thinking is that if I go with Orange I'll be able to transfer to EE should their packages be attractive enough. By that time I'll have received the Quidco cashback.

my thoughts exactly - and if I can't well its only 12mths!!

it can't be any worse than O2!

And my iPhone showing shipped since 1500hrs today.......

anyone fancy joining me in a complaint to OFCOM reference Orange uks' dealing of this iphone launch?

Ive found there service and csr to be completely inept with regards to the differing information and lack of information regarding this launch. Even O2 are now starting to get things together.

if anyone is, could you please forward your experiences on jon.wealls@hotmail.com.

Could it be possible for the starter of this thread to also put this post as a sticky on the first page of this thread.

Regards

Jon

OFCOM wont do anything, as not providing information is just bad customer service and poor internal processes, you have the choice of going where you want.

I myself have found the staff perfectly fine, they provided me the information that I needed, and helped answer my questions as I would expect over the phone and twitter with the answers I wanted, that goes for both o2 and orange.

I think we all sometimes need to have a reality check, and remember its a phone at the end of the day, nothing more. The staff at all the networks are doing their best to ensure everyone's happy, but things go wrong, that's life im afraid.

remember the earth will not be swallowed into a blackhole if you don't receive your phone or sim card

as others have stated, you may be able to tether even on plans which don't include it. and, even if you can't, you can add an AYCE add-on which includes tethering for just £5/30days

O2 Ordering Tracking

My O2 order just changed... I've now got parcel tracking (UK Mail) and a dispatch date of 19th (today)! Looks like O2 CS were right; i may get it for Friday :) Fibre broadband being installed on Friday too... Gonna be an exciting day!!

Think you can do a bit of sly tethering but don't take my word for it.

Whether to get The One Plan, depends on how much you plan on tethering - I nail 10gb+ a month so it's a no brainer, I'd be flagged up in no time probably. If you'd only be using a gb or so, you'd probably get away with it I'm guessing.

On the iPad3 its under

settings>iTunes and App Stores> Use 3G data

the setting I referred to is a bit different, if you were automatically connected to a wifi that wasn't working, or a public wifi that needed a pwd, this setting would switch apps to use 3G.

I actually wanted to find it to DISABLE it as I'm over 80% usage. But like the man said, it's been removed.

Have they changed this recently at all? I used to be on the One Plan, and tethered a lot, but now have one of the Ultimate AYCE packages for £30 a month and am tethering fine - hitting on average 5-6gb a month and not had any comms from them or any throttling (always get a very healthy speed).

Just curious, as I figured I'd lose the feature.

Their detection is rather weak, depends if you get caught. I know some ports on games don't work because ports are blocked :/.

I'm pretty sure that OFCOM couldn't give a rats @rse about the launch of a handset and your lack of ability to get your hands on one without getting stressed out. Don't pester them with this kind of cr@p, they have better things to be doing like sorting out spectrum auctions and lots of other stuff that might actually be useful.
